TEN YEARS

The chances of seeing Sammul on TV have not been few, but not rather many either. In my opinion, at least in daily life, they probably will agree that Sammul Chan is not an unfavorable or malicious guy, but a pleasant person to see.

Honestly, there are barely totally malicious artists in the world. Besides “the basic requirement”, Sammul does have many other abilities that his fellow actors lack, which probably is the reason why he has been able to find his own place in TVB, and even could film The Vanishing Glaciers in Iceland with Mr.Chan, which was an enviable job.

Yet, happiness is all relative when Sammul is compared with his fellow actors: Raymond Lam is currently living at Mid-Levels ; Ron Ng always has usually played leads and drives Benz or Audi even being rumored by scandals all the time.

“Compared to my fellow male artists, I have a bit tougher career path. Say to buy an apartment, I’m not financially capable of doing that right now, but other people said they would buy big house, like Raymond Lam. I’m pretty poor. So now my biggest goal is to make money and blueprint the life after retirement. Haha. Of course, it’s impossible for me to retire right now. To be more honest, I indeed have earned money from filming series in mainland China these years. The pay for filming one single series in Mainland China is several-times better than in Hong Kong. “

“Where there is a loss, there must be a gain. I actually don’t really pursue and chase such things in some degree. Now I have the freedom I want, and one year later I also can go back to TVB filming two series. That’s not bad! And I’m conservative, of a personality fault. I have no thought to correct or change, you know future cannot be obtained by force. I know myself well and if I don’t do something now, I won’t do it later.”

Being weird

Last year, Michael Tse Tin Wah went home after a business drinking. He drove his car into the back of a taxi. Although there were no casualties, the police detected that Michael Tse had more than 1.5 times the allowed alcohol percentage in his blood.

Learning how to be patient

There has always been news about TVB having senior Dinner parties, asked whether Ron has been before? “I’ve never sat down to have a meal by myself with seniors; the entertainment circle isn’t as bad as it sounds. One year in TVB is equivalent to three years in the outside world. Everyday you interact with different people, and you use a different tone with different people and it really tests you. In the past I was very stubborn, I liked justice and if people said the wrong things I would immediately say something and sometimes it will make the people around me feel bad. I will just wait when there is no one around and just tell them about it to prevent them from getting scolded by the director next time.”

Not being able to be a normal person again

After entering the industry for 10 years, Ron Ng who will be 30 this year was asked how he saw those past 10 years. “Those 10 years have had the ups and downs and I have met many people and especially myself. I’ve been working more than I have been staying at home. Two days ago I came back from Shen Zhen; the third time in the Mainland I had lots of time to rest and work and it isn’t like Hong Kong how everything is rushed. When I went back last year I wasn’t use to the weather and always got sick. It may be because in Hong Kong no matter how hard and tiring it was, when I got home to have a shower it made me feel much better. Even my Mum’s nice soup made it all better. But when in the Mainland I felt I was very tiring and when I went back to the hotel I would be faced with four walls and I would just miss Hong Kong but I got use to it quickly. I find that in the Mainland it is much better as there is little entertainment news which helps me focus more on my script and work.
