The Guillotines Premieres

Posted by Admin 0 comments

Two nights ago Peter Lam Kin Ngok, Peter Chan Ho Sun, Andrew Lau Wai Keung, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Chris Lee Yuchun and Pu Bajia attended their new film THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI)'s premiere. Many in the industry were invited, including Julian Cheung Chi Lam, Raymond Chow Man Wai and Daneil Lam Siu Ming.

Yue Man Lok said that he had no comment about Eric Tsang Chi Wai's alleged drunken assault because he was the most afraid of other people chiming in on matters that were not their own. "Kids like me shouldn't make any noise. (Would you console Chi Wai?) The younger generation wouldn't talk about that." Director Lau Wai Keung said that he just returned to Hong Kong but felt that the matter was not urgent. Chi Wai would take care of it himself. Would Chi Wai be very worried? "What does he have to worry about? He knows how to handle it. He is my big brother and elder. (Lately show business has a lot of negative events?) No, only you say it does. It also has many marriages and child births. Stuff like these have always been around, gossips, rises and falls would always happen." Speaking of the earlier rumor that he and Huang Xiaoming were at odds, however he pushed Huang Xiaoming in a wheel chair while promoting in the Mainland. Did he want to shatter the dispute rumor? Lau Wai Keung admitted, "We have never been at odds, after THE GUILLOTINES he and I worked together on AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA. This is only an arrangement issue. His injury keeps him from attending one but not another. He can't take the plane. The rumor isn't true and we are not at odds."

Aimee expressed she already got a Christmas gift for boyfriend Moses Chan, but she groaned: "For his gift, I spent 10 hours at the shopping mall trying to pick something out for him. I bought something useful for my boyfriend. (Intimate product? Underwear?) No, it is a coffee-related gift." Yesterday was the start of the Winter Festival, asked if she's spending the holiday with Moses? She said: "He's working until very late at night. (Celebrate early?) I had a Christmas dinner with Auntie and Uncle earlier."

Ruco expressed they'll be heading over to Malaysia for outdoor filming, he said: "My role is a tourist living in Malaysia, but actually I'm a music producer." Ruco expressed the whole series is revolved around sunshine and the beaches, which is different from his past serious roles. He expressed: "I can only depend on my hard work to prove everything."

ATV Fired Up on Dooms Day, Fires 5 Truanting Artists

Posted by Admin 0 comments

In the past year, ATV's rating has hit a new low, several of their programs are getting TV ratings of 0 (zero). Earlier investor (Wong Ching) did the popular horse-riding dance protesting against the government's issue of more free-to-air licenses, the outcome was 'shocking'! In the past week, ATV suddenly 'threw a tantrum' and asked their young inexperienced artists to undergo an artists training class. ATV executive and first line artists including Jaclyn Chu, Gilbert Lam, Kenneth Chan and Lau Shek Yin served as their instructors. All 'Miss Asia', 'Mr. Asia', 'Asian Million Stars' and contracted artists must report to Tai Po to accept ATV's training on acting. The training is four weeks long, Monday to Fridays, from 10am to 12pm, and then again from 2pm to 5pm. It is close to the normal office work hours (9-5pm).

Monday's lesson was surprising mostly about ATV's 55 years in the industry, their footprints, standpoint and views on the free television licenses. The lesson was similar to a brainwashing course and the content was very boring. Several artists left half way and didn't go to class at all in the following two days. ATV executives were highly displeased by their behavior and on Thursday, they asked contracted artists to sign another term in the agreement. The artists are to promise to actively accommodate to ATV's training project. Yesterday Wong Ching personally served as the instructor of the class and was alarmed to see the low attendance rate. He was very angered, he immediately went to find the absented artists and fired 4-5 of them, including former Miss HK Priscilla Chi, Ben Cheung, lengmo Aki Chan, and host Cheung Tsz Ying (Che Che).

This issue startled many artists, they commented on how heartless ATV was being. They believed forcing artists to attend an unpaid training and working for free is unreasonable. Some of the comments made were, "Why force artists to go to the course every day, like its an office job?" , "Since ATV and the audience already recognize us as artists, then why do we still have to attend these lessons?" , "There are no series filming now, then why are they still trying to teach us acting?". It was understood, Priscilla and Che Che were back at ATV yesterday to get their "big envelope".

As one of the instructors, Kenneth Chan was shocked to hear the news, he feels everyone should maintain peace: "This is a heavy punishment, there should be a warning first!" He expressed he is not in HK a lot, and his topic was 'messing with one's mind', which is very vague. "If I'm able to help new colleagues understand the work more, then that's okay, but they should really hire a professional instructor to do the training. (Salary?) Haven't discussed that yet!" Kenneth expressed he doesn't have an educational background in performing arts, so he does not know how to teach others, but he's also fears if he says no he'll be the one fired as well.

ATV executive Yip Ka Bo responded: "Those artists were dismissed only because they could not accommodate the company's requests. (Artists feel taking lessons again is unreasonable?) This is not an acting course, it is a training course. It is fair and square. They could not accommodate, then ATV had to take such action. (Their contract says they must take this course?) The dismissed artists had that written in their contracts." Yip Ka Bo expressed "Asian Million Star" (Gong Si Hak), Miss Asia (Dominy Chau) and artist Chun Kai Wai were given a raise for good performance.

Sharon Chan Taking Good Care of Herself Ready to have Baby

Posted by Admin 0 comments

Yesterday Roger Kwok and Sharon Chan were shooting for their new series Justice Arrogant Hero. A Netizen with sharp eyes spotted the police badge used by Sharon in currently airing series Friendly Fire, which read in fine print "used for props only". However, TVB must make it clear that the police badge is not real, therefore those words must be added on. It is not because TVB is being "sloppy" again.

When speaking of Sharon's role in this series, she plays an unmarried mother. She praised her young co-stars are extremely smart, "They act like adults, so cute! (Have a child of your own?) One day, I will. Wait until I get better health and I currently enjoy my dating life." Earlier there were a lot of complaints on the TV King and Queen results, even good friend Kenneth Ma appeared extremely shocked when the TV King was announced. Netizens screen capped his long stunned reaction and madly circulated it online. Sharon expressed Kenneth is cute: "I'm not surprised because I voted for Tavia Yeung. As for TV King, I voted for Kenneth, so these things is very subjective." As for Roger, he praised Wayne Lai deserved the TV King title, "If we're just counting who has the most fans, then there should be a 'Most Fans Award' instead. (Raymond Lam and Kate Tsui are calling it quits on series?) Well then, let's see how they could be pleased. Ask to TVB to add another 10 concert shows for Raymond, so he can earn more money. But I think Raymond should shoot more series, it's difficult to balance in all three areas, music, film and TV series."

Raymond Lam Not Even Top 3 Most Voted for TV King, Quits TVB Series in 2013

Posted by Admin 0 comments

TVB Anniversary Awards 2012 had a new 'one person per vote' system, allowing the audience to vote for their favorite TV King and Queen. At first, everyone thought Raymond Lam would take the title because he had the most fans, but he ended up with nothing! Kate Tsui was only given the 'pork award' (condolence prize) -- "My Favorite TV Female Character" award. [Good News] obtained news from a reliable source of the voting results. On the night of the awards show, TVB announced there was a total of 1,542,922 votes. TV King and Queen each had around 110,000 of the votes. According to the reliable source, Kenneth Ma was actually in second place for TV King, just 30,000 votes behind Wayne Lai; On the TV Queen side, Kate Tsui was in second place with around 30,000 votes behind Tavia Yeung. Raymond Lam did not even make it on the top three.

It was understood, the two TVB executive giants Virgina Lok and Catherine Tsang were in a battle. Catherine insisted on delaying the awards ceremony until the two anniversary series The Confidant and Silver Spoon Sterling Shackles finishes its broadcast, so her favorite artists Wayne Lai and Tavia Yeung could have extra time to boost their momentum and get in more votes, and plus the finales frequently become the hot topics in the city. Results, Wayne and Tavia successfully won the awards. Virgina Lok saw right through Catherine's plot. This directly affected her favorite artists Raymond Lam and Kate Tsui's votes. No wonder the two are attacking back! Apparently Raymond and Kate are fighting back by refusing to accept any TVB series next year. Next year, Raymond is concentrating more on music, Mainland dramas and movies; Kate will be focused more in movies.

[Oriental Daily] Yesterday Wayne accepted an interview and when speaking of Raymond and Kate calling it quits on series for next year, he said: "Why would that be? They have lots of opportunities in Mainland and they won't stop filming." Raymond fans are upset that their idol didn't win? He said: "I'm sure, but I believe Raymond is not as unhappy as his fans are. He's been in this industry for over 10 years and understand the rules of the game. The reaction Raymond's fans had is normal."

It was also rumored Wayne's son (Lai Jing Kiu) joined TVB, so he renewed his contract in exchange for the award. Wayne said: "The logic is all wrong. If this is true, then I should give the money and award back to TVB. It is completely fabricated. I'm not against my son joining the entertainment industry, but don't make it a father-son collaboration."

In regards to Kenneth Ma losing to Wayne by 30,000 votes, Kenneth said: "Really? I never thought I would get that many votes, thank you all for the support." Asked about Raymond not even in the top three? He said: "Huh? I don't dare to comment any further, I'm afraid there will be more gossips." Kenneth expressed he does not believe in renewing contract in exchange for awards. He reveals he still has a long way to go in his contract.

Yesterday morning, Tavia Yeung celebrated her TV Queen victory with the cast of SSSS, including Damian Lau, Mary Hon, JJ Jia, etc. It turns out the gathering was to celebrate the Winter Festival as well as Tavia's TV Queen victory. She uploaded their group photo on Weibo and expressed her gratefulness: "If tomorrow (today) is Dooms Day, then to be able to have this reunion with you all, I'm already satisfied!"

Raymond Cho suffered from depression

Posted by Admin 0 comments

After his brilliant performance as an intelligent eunuch in "The Confidant", all eyes are on TVB actor Raymond Cho, which led him to reveal a secret: he had suffered from severe depression, and even considered suicide in 2010.

Jayne Stars reported that after the slump in his career due to his marriage, the overwhelming mental stress led him to fall into severe depression. His wife Elaine noticed the change in his behaviour, but could not do anything except remain by his side and provided support.

In 2010, his battle with depression came to the point where he considered ending his life by crashing his vehicle into a mountain. He decided to seek help from a psychiatrist.

However, Raymond did not want to depend on medication for the rest of his life. He met a Buddhist monk, who advised him to "Open your heart and accept your fate. Don't ask for the impossible and let go of your anger."

Raymond said, "When I took the responsibility to become a good husband and father, my life started to change."

The 47-year-old actor was grateful for Wayne Lai, Raymond Wong, Power Chan, and Edwin Siu's support during the filming of "The Confidant".

"The five of us are like brothers. This is the best filming experience that I have ever had. I believe if one works hard, good results will await."

Raymond married John Chiang's eldest daughter, Elaine, and the couple have two children together, Brandon and Erin.

Eason Chan embraces the Mayan apocalypse

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

These days, there are people all over the globe, who have been stocking up on food and building disaster-proof shelters.

And it's all because they believe in a Mayan doomsday prophecy, which claims the world will end on December 21.

Hong Kong singer Eason Chan revealed that he was once a believer too.

"To be honest, I didn't have enough faith for our future, as a citizen of the world.

"There was a time I really believed it is going to end. 2012, one two, two one (December 21)," said Chan, in a recent interview with Singapore media.

"I was very pessimistic at one time. Like 'Yea, we're gonna die.'"

But the 38-year-old singer said he quickly came to grips with doomsday, and now isn't worried about it at all.

"I'm not going think about that," said Chan. "If it is really going to happen, it's okay."

"Ask yourself one question: 'So what if it (the world) is going to end?' We can all choose who we want to end it with."

"I think with my loved ones around, i.e. my wife, my daughter, or my mum and dad, we can organise a trip on that day, a holiday," he continued.

"Even if it is not going to be the end of the world, we would actually have a trip together, which we might not have done in the years before."

Jacky Cheung refuses to share stage with Andy Lau

Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung

Fans who wish to witness the four Heavenly Kings, Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai share a stage again will be disappointed, as sources revealed that Andy and Jacky declined to make an appearance together. There was much speculation earlier that they would be reuniting on Shanghai Dragon TV’s New Year countdown show.

It is said that Jacky’s side clearly indicated that the veteran singer is willing to share the stage with Leon and Aaron, but not Andy.

The show’s director confirmed that though there were indeed talks with the legendary icons, the plans fell through as competition to invite the biggest stars was stiff among the various channels and each of the Heavenly King had their own work commitments and wishes.

Furthermore, the production team was not willing to take up the suggestion of combining pre-recorded clips as a solution. Though plans for ‘the Heavenly King reunion’ were aborted, Leon Lai is set to attend the show, together with a star-studded line-up that includes Taiwanese band Mayday, Chinese singer Na Ying, South Korean actor Lee Jun Ki and more.

TVB's 'best deal' Jason Chan possesses good looks, has a foreign educational background and a fluent English speaker. He's any girl's deal man. He is currently one of the rising Siu Sangs in TVB and takes on his first lead role in new series Missing You. In the series, he plays a lovable social worker and often helps the people around him.

Jason expressed before he started filming this series, he was very nervous: "Actually I started feeling very nervous a few days before the first day of shooting. When speaking of the interesting things that happened during filming, Jason frankly expressed he clicked well with his co-star Linda Chung. One time he and Linda were chatting about their small collaboration back when he first debuted. He said: "Back then I was still studying in the TVB Artistes Training class, and collaborated with her in one series. That time I just had a small role of the person selling flowers and she was my customer. That scene was just a short 1-2 minutes, I had to think about it for a really long time before I could remember, but I really felt touched that she (Linda) still remembers after so long."

But when speaking of touching moments, Jason said this year he is really thankful of all the opportunities TVB gave him. He said: "This year I had two series and I have hosting jobs. Really thank TVB. (Will you find a girlfriend to share the happiness?) Nope. If I get busier later, then I definitely won't have time to date. I rather just focus on my career."

Rebecca Zhu Criticized Poor Acting, Vents to Her Teddy Bear

Posted by Admin 0 comments

Miss Hong Kong 2011 winner Rebecca Zhu is currently being heavily promoted by TVB. Earlier this year, she worked alongside Kenneth Ma and Ron Ng on her debut series Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles, but her acting was criticized. Some Netizens scolded her severely on Weibo, giving her a lot of pressure.

When speaking of this, Rebecca was clearly unhappy and had red eyes, she said: "Because I really worked hard on portraying the role. Of course I know the audience is focused for there to be so many discussions. However, as a newcomer I don't really know how to handle it. I will have to allow myself to grow slowly. (You're always reading the comments online?) Everyday a lot of people talk about it! (Which comments was the hardest to take?) They scolded me using profanity. That's not very nice, I really can't accept it. I just feel they don't really know me, but they're just attacking me. Others told me to retire from the industry and don't do any more acting. I saw some comments say I look ugly and that I should go get plastic surgery done as soon as possible."

Rebecca does not have many friends in the industry, so she doesn't have anyone she can vent to. She expressed she would just cry to her teddy bear at home: "Friends know my family isn't here with me, so they gave me a teddy bear to accompany me. When I'm unhappy I would vent to my teddy bear and I have a habit of bringing it with me when I go traveling."

As one says, there will only be growth with experience. Rebecca said many of her seniors aren't rapidly rising, so the only thing to do is to just suck it up and get through it. She said: "I have to try and be strong, learn to let go. Some things, I really don't have to be so stubborn on. I've cried about this issue before, I was just sitting on the couch crying all night! After I cried it out, I'm fine."

Christmas is around the corner, Rebecca plans to spend the holidays with her mom. She intends on cooking a big dinner to show her filial respect. When asked if she has a date with the opposite sex? She bashfully said: "I do have a pursuer, but he didn't ask me out. Actually, after I entered the industry, I like lively atmospheres. If friends invite me to a party, I would go if I have time. It's a pleasure to exchange gifts with friends. (A romantic day, will there be any sweet memories?) Broke up two years ago! I've cooked my own Christmas meal before, but that was my first time and it will be my last time. I hope someone could cook it for me in the future. Girls like to focus on being romantic."

Daniel Wu wants his wife to have another child

Posted by Admin 0 comments

Chang Chen, Liu Ye, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Qin Lan and director Lu Chuan's film THE LAST SUPPER (WONG JI SING YIN) two nights ago held a premiere in Causeway Bay. Wai Ying Hung showed her supported and said that she will return to Hong Kong for a television series in January. The soon to be father Ng Yin Cho talked about his wife's recent condition. Chang Chen was working on the post production voice work for THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) and said that he was already used to Wong Kar Wai's pursuit for perfection production style. The production was worth spending three years on.

Ng Yin Coh said that his wife Lisa S. suffered nausea from her pregnancy and he did not dare to invite her to watch the bloody scenes at the premiere. She only did not get sick when she ate, thus she has become very large. He said, "My wife's chest and rear both grew larger, which I have never seen before. I like them very much, but I can only look and not touch; she didn't want her shape to become like this, but for the baby she still accepted it." Ng Yin Cho said that he wanted his wife to have two children and stop. He said, "With two children they don't have to be lonely, I am afraid that I would worry about my daughter in the future."

Chang Chen was very happy that his film THE GRANDMASTERS has become the Berlin Film Festival opening film, but at the end of January he would have to work on Hou Hsiao-Hsien's new film and did not know if he would be able to attend. He recently worked on post production voice work for THE GRANDMASTERS but he did not know when it would be released. Although his part took three years, he did not ask for triple salary. He said, "During the period I worked on other films. Since it wasn't our first collaboration I was already used to it. 2046 took 5 years. Slow work produces detailed product. The pursuit of perfection is worth the long production."

Wai Ying Hung said that in January she will return to Hong Kong for a series, but she and TVB had no contract. Will she dock with Ricky Wong Wai Kei? Siu Hung did not deny anything and said, "This time the contract has a lot of freedom!" Did she get a heavy offer? She smiled and said, "I didn't say anything." Siu Hun since her brother Austin Wai Tin Chi's passing changed and wanted to stay in Hong Kong more. In the past 3 years she worked overseas and felt lonely. Thus she will have dinner with her family on the rumored end of the world and treated her home like Noah's Ark. She would not look for a companion until after that. She said, "It's not important that he makes less money, as long as he doesn't need me to raise him. I am very low maintenance."

Journey To The West Trailer is unveiled

Posted by Admin 0 comments

The Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed JOURNEY TO THE WEST will be released in the Lunar New Year. Although he did not perform, viewers still look forward to whether Sing Yeh will be able to start another trend after 4 years without a new film and win back the Hong Kong box office championship. Yesterday the film released a 60 second trailer that featured three leads Shu Qi, Wen Zhang and Huang Bo. Sing Yeh pointed out that this time the special effects could rival Hollywood's, thus in the trailer fish demons, pig demons and monkey demons appeared. Among the three leads, Huang Bo's costume was the most exaggerated, Shu Qi's martial art performance had special effect additions. In the trailer Sun Wukong appeared for a second and looked rather slim, resembling neither Sing Yen nor Show Luo (Law Chi Cheung). Who will be Sun Wukong?

The film dialogue extended Sing Yeh's usual comedy style, for example Zhang Wen asked Shu Qi, "Miss do you need help?" Shu Qi very seriously answered, "Yes, get lost." in the usual Sing Yeh style Mo Le Tau humor.

Yao Xingtong has no difficulty with languages

Posted by Admin 0 comments

Jackie Chan in the new film CZ12 (SUP YI SUN CIU) successfully discovered female stars Yao Xingtong, Zhang Lanxin and Laura Weissbecker's potential. In terms of acting and presence the trio have performed well. Yao Xingtong in the film displayed her knack of language. She said, "My dialogue included French, English, I spent nine months to study them and had no bad take at all. Instead in one scene I had to slap Big Brother, I slapped too hard and had a bad take! In another scene I opened a car door. Because this was my first collaboration with Big Brother and the first shot of the shoot, I was very nervous. Finally my face ran into the car door, bad take!"

Zhang Lanxin is a Tae Kwon Do expert and displayed her abilities in the film. She said, "Making a movie was much harder than training. For my first movie, due to the story I couldn't wear padding and bruised my leg. I still had to keep fighting, luckily Big Brother gave me a lot of instructions." French beauty Laura Weissbecker in the film did not have to fight but had to fall off a cliff. Luckily Jackie Chan gave her confidence and guaranteed her safety.

Jackie Chan's closing credit Monologue comes from the heart

Posted by Admin 0 comments

The Jackie Chan starred Emperor Motion Picture CZ12 (SUP YI SUN CHIU) was not only his 101st film but almost became his "final" film. Big Brother this time went to high heights and into volcanoes to complete this "final life risking action film" to write a perfect chapter for his film history.

Jackie Chan lives up to his Guinness World Record for the Most Stunts by a Living Actor. In the Emperor Motion Picture CZ12, he flew 30,000 feet in the air and went to a lava bubbling volcano to live up his life risking spirit from over the years. He said, "I am very focused on realism, I try to shoot on location as much as possible. Aside from the parachuting I also went to the volcano for actual location shoot. Honestly, I am 58! I really have thought about whether to retire after this film? I don't want to work until one day when viewers are looking at the screens and say, 'please stop fighting'! When I was at the volcano, the workers told me 'Big Brother be careful, the lava is spraying out'! At that moment I thought, if the lava erupted and I died like that on the set, it would be very beautiful, very perfect! Yet I thought this movie was my best in ten years, I was reluctant to die and retire!"

Jackie Chan injected his entire effort into the new film. He said, "I put a lot of messages into the film. Back then the Eight Nation Alliance invaded China, why did I arranged for the modern pirates in the film to have people of different nationalities? 'Don't have three or four ganging up one', I hope young people can see that." In addition, Big Brother continued, "During the closing credits I had a monologue, which was (Jaycee Chan) Fong Cho Ming's idea. He originally wanted to edit all my past work into a music video, but I didn't want to be too deliberate. However I really felt, every dangerous stunt might be my last. After it I might spend the rest of my life in a wheel chair. The monologue came from the heart. (Did you ask Joan Lin (Lam Fung Chiu) to guest star to trigger her acting bug?) No, she originally was unwilling to appear, seven or eight years ago a shampoo commercial offered her HK$15 million and she was unwilling. We would only perform together this one time, we won't have another chance."
