Elanne Kong falls in Ice City

Saturday, February 18, 2012 Posted by Admin 0 comments
Earlier Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam for her first LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) attended a Harbin Ice and Snow Film Festival press conference with director Herman Yau Lai To and Chapman To Man Jat. That day Harbin's temperature was 17 degrees Celsius below zero. Kong Yeuk Lam had no fear of the chill and visited Harbin's World of Ice, all the structures of which were made from ice. With the lights at night the scene was very pretty. Many artists who attended the Ice and Snow Film Festival took the chance to visit.

World of Ice also had an ice slide, which Kong Yeuk Lam wanted to try. The cold however put a layer of ice on its surface and made it very slippery, even for Kong Yeuk Lam with her stable footing from her weightlifting training. She slipped several times before she got to the slide. Director Yau Lai To jokingly called her "clumsy". Kong Yeuk Lam said, "The World of Ice is very pretty, but the floor was really slippy. I fell several times and my butt hurt!"

Tsui Hark picks Ann Hui to win Best Director

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Director Tsui Hark led the FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP) team to this year's Berlin Film Festival. Speaking of the film's 13 Hong Kong Film Award nominations including Best Director, he admitted that he has always admired Ann Hui On Wa and thought that she deserved the award the most. In addition, Gua Ah Lei and the new film JOYFUL REUNION team was six hour late due to the snow closing the Munich airport. Another lead actress Huo Siyan who arrived earlier welcomed everyone to the venue as the sun returned.

Tsui Hark earlier celebrated his 61st birthday in Berlin. Two days ago he continued to promote FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE there. Speaking of no interest in a sequel, he said that this film was already different from his creative habit. He felt that if it was good enough then he did not need to do more, unless he had a story that was worth shooting then he would consider.

As for FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE's numerous Hong Kong Film Award, would he look forward to it winning more awards than DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (DIK YUN KIT JI TUNG TIN DAI GOK)? Tsui Hark felt that everyone should enjoy the atmosphere and share the joy at award shows. Because colleagues were considered friends, he should share the joy no matter who won. In addition he liked the nominations very much. He mentioned that when his good friend Teddy Robin Kwan won last year he felt very happy. As for this year, Tsui Hark felt that Hui On Wa should be able to win with A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH) and praised her for daring to make subjects that no one would dare to touch. Tsui Hark also felt that the Hong Kong Film Award's nature was gradually blurring, but the Greater Chinese concept was a good thing.

Gua Ah Lei, Huo Siyan and Lan Cheng-Long starred JOYFUL REUNION two nights ago held its global premiere in Berlin. Huo Siyan earlier arrived at the film festival for the opening ceremony. The director Tsao Jui-Yuan, producer Hsu Li-Kong and other leads originally were to arrive in Berlin three days ago but due to the snow at the Munich airport their flight was delayed for six hours. Finally they took 26 hours to arrive in Berlin. Luckily after they arrived the sun came out. Huo Siyan learned of their arrived and went to welcome them and visit the film festival venue together. At night they dressed up for the premiere. Huo Siyan saw her parting scene with Lan Cheng-Long and broke down. Kitty Zhang Yuqi in the new film WHITE DEER PLAIN press conference wore a tight evening gown, her belly led to speculation that she was pregnant.

She's only seeking to strengthen her knowledge: "We will be talking about women stuff on different levels, including cosmetics and other beautiful things, stuff like that. The producer also asked us to ask seriously when we interview our guests. I do have interest to give it a try myself. (Will you gossip about the latest news between Vincci and her new foreign male partner?) I don't know her well! I collaborated with her in my first series The Green Hope, but I don't really gossip!"

The three hostesses are of different types, Koni has the body figure, Vincci has the bold and openness and when it was Yoyo turn's to comment, she laughed: "I am the conservative type."

Grasshopper 'back' attacks Henry Tang: "We have a backbone"

Posted by Admin 0 comments
The IFPI Hong Kong Top Sales Music Awards 2011 was held yesterday. Many singers including Joey Yung, Raymond Lam, Twins, Grasshopper, Liza Wang and Adam Cheng all attended. Pop queen Joey Yung swept 6 awards and was once again the big winner of the night. As for Raymond, he took home 3 awards and became the King of Awards. That night although it was an awards presentation, but everyone gathered together to talk about the HK Chief Executive Election 2012 candidate Henry Tang instead.

Recently consistent reports have circulated around the HK press that Henry Tang built a large basement illegally in his residence in York Road, Kowloon Tong. A few days ago, Henry admitted at a press conference that he was aware of the construction of the illegal basement and said it was his wife's idea (courtesy of wiki). His comment immediately led to an uproar in HK as many of his supporters thought he was blaming his wife for his wrongdoing. Last night, Grasshopper took the lead on stage in the criticisms: "We, singers really do have shoulders and backbones!" Clearly, their comment was intentional against Henry and this was supported by everyone in the audience as loud applause and cheers were heard.

During the interview, Grasshopper was asked if they have something to say regarding this issue? Calvin Choi claimed he's a '100% HK Boy', he expressed: "No, we just believe singers have to have persistence for music. (An overtone?) I am just talking about music. Whatever you all heard is what you heard." He also said he will put in his greatest effort into the music scene and "will do his best".

Big winner Joey Yung was also asked about Henry Tang's issue. She said: "Considered a topic of discussion. If he wants to be a leader, then must be fair and have people accept you. (You have a backbone too?) Seeing so many complaints over the the last several days, he has room for improvement. His wife is very generous." When speaking of the constant photo spoofs by Netizens on the internet, Joey was asked if she has seen any of them? She laughed: "Yes. (Which one do you like best?) The big bumblebee one! This triggered everyone's creativity. Hong Kong's capability for creations is very high, impressive!"

As for the male singer big winner, Raymond Lam, he expressed: "I thought there's only a lot of gossips over the music and film awards, but it turns out politics can have a lot of gossips too. As a reader myself, I just read it and move on." When speaking of the Netizens' photo spoofs? He said: "I haven't seen them. I just know the house is beautiful, I want one too." Raymond is suffering from sciatica nerve pain, he expressed he does feel strain when recording. Asked if this would affect his fertility? He said: "I don't know, but it will affect my larger movements."

Also, Liza Wang offered her opinion in regards to the Henry Tang case: "Well that isn't too good. Coming forward to explain is a good thing, so citizens will have an understanding." Yesterday over a phone interview, she said: "A fact is a fact. The man of the family should come out and be responsible. Men coming forward is better, Mrs. Tang is very brave, worthy of the respect." Liza also sighed Henry handled the crisis too slowly.

Twins have also been aware of the news, Ah Sa said: "I just feel being genuine and honest is very important. He should really provide a good explanation to the people of HK. It's not about the man of the family anymore. (If he's elected will you be worried?) Always think on the bright side and positively."

Flora Chan stutters on stage as she expresses she supports her husband

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Two celebrity mothers Flora Chan and Karena Lam attended skincare brand Neutrogena's event. Flora's husband and manager Mike Chung had recently filed for bankruptcy. At the event, Flora kept her face to the side when facing the media and pictures. Later, she had no where to 'escape' to and helplessly stood for pictures. It has been a long while since Flora appeared at a public event, therefore she was rather nervous on stage and often stuttered on her words. She expressed her daughter (Mira) is 5 years old now, so she can make a comeback without too many worries. As for if she's rushing to make money? She said: "I don't care, just been working as I did over the years."

41 year old Flora admitted she had financial support from her husband, but she does not need his support in other areas. She expressed she is proud of her husband: "He had ideal contributions and it's just a temporarily down time for him. We will remain proactive and face the issues. (Bankruptcy?) It's not that big of a deal. (Better relationship?) We have always had a good relationship." However, Flora declined to comment on if she's feeling pressured on her daughter's school tuition. She only expressed she will still be studying at an international school.

When speaking of her work plan, she just completed a series in Mainland and expressed she does not mind flying back and forth between HK and Mainland. Flora said NOW and CityTelecom have both approached her, but she will first have to fulfill the 'per-series' contract she has with TVB: "There will definitely be a chance to shoot a series with them, but I'm not sure if its going to be Triumph in the Skies II." Reporters mentioned CityTelecom's Ricky Wong makes an extravagant offer, but Flora expressed she won't just look at the money.

After the event, Mike saved on the taxi money and drove his wife to Central in a compact car that belonged to the company Flora's with.

Faye Wong's Concert Abruptly Cancelled - Audience Seats Collapse

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Faye Wong was scheduled to perform on the 17th in Chongqing as part of her 2012 Concert Tour. However, a section of seats suddenly collapsed, which halted the performance. The concert has been pushed back to the 19th.

At 8pm when the show was scheduled to start, Faye was still backstage preparing for her entrance. The seats in sections E1 and F1 suddenly started to collapse, which resulted in chaos. According to those on scene, the floor towards the right side of the stage by the exit began to collapse, which affected the floors to about a quarter of the seats in the area. After the accident, the staff on hand began directing people to vacate the premises.

Currently there's no indication of whether anyone was hurt in the incident. The concert has been postponed until the 19th. Later Faye personally apologized through her Weibo: "I hope everyone is alright. We will continue the day after tomorrow. I'm sorry it frightened so many people and I apologize for the inconvenience. Sorry, sorry."

Katie Chan, Faye's manager later posted an official announcement

As the incident recently occurred, there are many things we still need to investigate. Our first priority is in helping the audience vacate the premise. Based on our knowledge, at around 8:10pm tonight there were problems with the seats towards the right side of the stage. Some of the seats were lifted a foot and a half from the ground and thus the seats began to collapse. Many people in the audience were frightened, which caused chaos. Due to the situation, the organizers decided to stop the concert and began directing people out.

At the time of the incident, Faye was still beneath the stage preparing for her entrance. When she heard of the commotion, she was startled and became very concerned for the safety of those sitting in the audience. She kept asking if anyone was hurt.

Our first priority is in assisting with the evacuation and investigating other safety concerns. We only heard from our staff members that a few fans in the audience sustained minor injuries. We're grateful there hasn't been any serious injuries reported. Once we have ensured that everyone has safely vacated the premises, we will immediately hold a meeting to investigate the situation. We will see to it that the organizers assess all the safety concerns in order to prevent another accident like this from happening again.

As to whether or not the concert tomorrow will continue, we are still in discussion. If we cannot keep the scheduled performance, the organizers will refund the tickets. If that is the case, there will be further announcements.

Flora Chan Discussing Filming “Triumph in the Skies 2″

Posted by Admin 0 comments
In 2007, Flora Chan (陳慧珊) secretly married her second husband and manager, Mike Chung (鍾家鴻), in the United States. One year later, Flora became pregnant with her daughter, Mira, and semi-retired from acting, taking only cameo roles in her spare time. Flora focused primarily on taking care of their 4-year-old daughter. Mike’s marketing business owed huge debts, forcing him to file for bankruptcy last week.

When news spread of Flora’s husband’s bankruptcy position, City Telecom (CTI) owner, Ricky Wong (王維基), immediately reached out to her, hoping that she would be interested to film for the newly established local Hong Kong television station.

It was understood that Flora still possessed an outstanding per series contract with TVB. Company executives were extremely interested in adding Flora to the highly anticipated Triumph in the Skies 2 "衝上雲霄 2", reuniting her with former pilot costar Francis Ng (吳鎮宇). The drama was slated to start filming in April 2012.

According to an inside source, TVB allegedly offered Flora a salary increase from $20,000 to $30,000 HKD per episode. TVB executive manager, Virginia Lok (樂易玲) stated, “Flora and TVB’s partnership is a bit unique, in which her terms require the filming arrangement to completely match her personal lifestyle. The script for Triumph in the Skies 2 has not passed yet, so there are things which remain unfinalized. We really hope that Flora can return to TVB to film for us!”

Flora Chan Still Deciding Her Next Filming Project

Appearing at a Neutrogena promotional event yesterday, Flora appeared shaken with her lips quivering on stage, while her husband, Mike Chung, evaded the cameras. Disregarding recent tabloid speculations that marital strife due to Mike’s bankruptcy, Flora admitted that she financially supported her husband. Despite Mike’s bankruptcy, Flora continued to be proud of her husband.

Due to the couple’s financial distress, Flora will be resuming acting. “I still have a per series contract with TVB. I do not know whether I will be filming Triumph in the Skies 2 yet, since CTI and Now TV also contacted me!”

Damien Lau Becomes Scriptwriter for “Prominent Family” To Improve Script Quality

Posted by Admin 0 comments
It appears that Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) may not be the only TVB artist ascending to the scriptwriter ranks at the company! New rival stations, City Telecom (CTI) and Now TV, were successful in recruiting half of TVB’s former production staff, forcing TVB to utilize new scriptwriters, senior editors and directors with less experience. The recent staff turnover at TVB resulted in daily impromptu scripting changes prior to filming, leading to numerous artists’ complaints.

Wong Cho Lam was criticized as lacking the qualifications to be promoted as a scriptwriter, while Prominent Family "名媛望族" star, Damien Lau (劉松仁), stepped in as a part-time scriptwriter for the drama due to the current understaffed situation at TVB. It was understood that Prominent Family producer, Chong Wai Kin (莊偉建), sought Damien’s help due to the veteran actor’s knowledge of Chinese history during the Republic of China era (1912 to 1949).

Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗) revealed, “Aside from taking on the role as scriptwriter, Damien had to revise the dialogue and story. He has been working very hard!” Tavia Yeung (楊怡) commented, “Damien put his heart and blood into Prominent Family!”

Kenneth Ma (馬國明) added, “Prior to filming on the set, Damien will attend production staff meetings. For this drama, Damien has worked very strenuously! Due to the staffing changes in the scriptwriting department, everyone is very anxious. Sometimes the environment will become quite chaotic, but it is just a transition stage!”

Producer Turns to Damien Lau For Expert Advice

On the surface, five to six scriptwriters were assigned to write the script for Prominent Family. It turned out that the majority of these scriptwriters were new on the job and were completely unfamiliar with the background and history of the Republic of China, the time frame in which the story of Prominent Family was set.

An insider revealed, “When the filming for Prominent Family first started, Damien Lau did not get involved with the scriptwriting yet. Later, Damien discovered there were plot details which contradicted with the historical setting of the Republic of China timeframe. Damien offered his suggestions, upon which Producer Chong felt he made good points. Afterward, Producer Chong frequently invited Damien to production staff meetings [to discuss the script].”

Damien Lau Wins Admiration For Hard Efforts

Although Damien Lau did not receive additional compensation in serving as part-time scriptwriter, he won respect behind the scenes. Full of admiration, Producer Chong Wai Kin stated, ”Damien Lau is the soul of Prominent Family! The entire drama centers around him. Just based on his five wives alone, it is already quite chaotic! Kenneth Ma, Rebecca Zhu, and Ron Ng are in a complicated love triangle relationship. Due to historical backdrop set during the Republic of China era, if we do not ask Damien Lau, who else can we turn to?”

Damien Lau Happy to Work as Part-Time Scriptwriter

Damien Lau will portray a famous, wealthy barrister with five wives in Prominent Family. The story will center around the large family as well as the rivalry between his wives: Mary Hon (韓馬利) as Damien’s first wife; Idy Chan (陳玉蓮) as Damien’s second wife; Elena Kong (江美儀) as his third wife; Tavia Yeung as his fourth wife; and JJ Jia (賈曉晨) as his fifth wife. Kenneth Ma, Vincent Wong (王浩信), and Sire Ma (馬賽) will portray Damien and Mary Hon’s children, who possess a good relationship with their father.

Damien stated, “I am very happy collaborating with everyone on the set of Prominent Family. I have bed scenes with each one of my wives! There is significant character and story development, lending more layers to the series.”

The media asked Damien Lau for confirmation if he has taken on scriptwriting duties for Prominent Family. Damien laughed and said, “I will not answer such questions. Even if you ask, I will not answer!”

However, on his Weibo blog earlier, Damien posted a photo of a table strewn with notebooks at his home. He wrote, “Although I continue to work during the Lunar New Year holiday and it was quite strenuous, this experience will remain unforgettable for the rest of my life!” Damien’s post may have hinted that he had contributed over and beyond normal responsibilities of an actor, perhaps taking on scriptwriting duties, for Prominent Family.

Despite 62-year-old Damien taking on two jobs, serving as actor and scriptwriter for Prominent Family, it was undeniable that the workload was very strenuous. However, his salary was not increased. Certainly Damien Lau was a bargain asset to the drama!

Hilary Tsui not upset at Eason Chan & HOCC's erotic performance: "It's Child's Play"

Posted by Admin 0 comments
The other night, Hilary Tsui was asked about the heated french kiss between her husband Eason Chan and Denise Ho (Hocc) live at Wyman Wong's HK Coliseum show. She said she's not upset: "I just covered Hong Tai's (her daughter) eyes because my husband and I are usually cautious in front of our daughter, we only do light kisses. Hong Tai has never seen her father kiss like that. My daughter said she didn't see anything after the fact." Hilary believe that was just a performance, after the concert they all went out for supper together. She teased that Hocc 'benefited' Eason, she continued: "Wyman's concert had a gimmick every night, the last show was Eason and Hocc's performance. Eason didn't tell me about it prior because he didn't think it would be like that. Actually, it's nothing more than a performance. Perhaps Mainland Netizens don't understand the song Unparalleled Beauty & Talent (芳華絕代), so they had bigger reactions."

Hilary also 'complained' Eason kissed a lot of people in the past. Back then, her husband and Josie Ho starred in Naked Ambition (豪情), they had an intense kiss scene too. Comparing that scene to the performance with Hocc, this is child's play. "I admire Josie's husband Lam Chi Chung, who can still go visit them on the set at the time. If it were me, I definitely can't accept it."

Susanna Kwan denounces rumor that she's marrying same-sex friend Willy

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Susanna Kwan and her homosexual friend (Willy) have been dating for 5 years. Susanna sees Willy as her other half. Yesterday a magazine reported that Willy proposed to Susanna and the couple plan to be married in September in England. Susanna's godmother Lee Heung Kam will also be their marriage witness.

Willy is the late 'Instant Noodle King' (Chow Man Hin)'s niece. She is personally good at investments and her family's net worth is over 100 million. All along, Susanna generously talked about her relationship with Willy: "She is my partner. The feeling is like she's family, we support each other." The magazine reported that the night before yesterday, 49 year old Willy made steak at their home and then knelt down to propose to 53 year old Susanna. She agreed and the two plans for a secret marriage in September at a church in England.

Yesterday Susanna learned of the rumor and felt very frustrated, but she also felt it was really funny. She said without hesitation: "Absolutely not!" She expressed yesterday she received phone calls from friends and learned of the rumor. Her godmother Lee Heung Kam was also very fierce and called her up. Susanna said the story on the magazine is ridiculous: "First, I don't eat beef. The report said Willy made steak for me to eat. Second, they said we are holding our wedding at a church? I am a Buddhist."

She concluded the media has good intentions, but that day the magazine photographed her and Willy at the airport. She viewed it in a friendly manner, but couldn't believe there would be this type of story that came out of it. It's actually pretty funny and helpless. the worst is, they even dragged the elderly into this, Lee Heung Kam. "Kam Jeh was very upset and called me. I hope the media can have some professionalism."

Lee Heung Kam also denounced the magazine report as ridiculous: "I asked Susanna, she said absolutely no such thing. They said I'll be their marriage witness? I was never notified of such news. Just as long as they are good friends."

Tavia Yeung's new series plagiarized Jessica Hsuan's old series in its entirety

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Recently, several series produced by TVB have been accused of plagiarizing other productions and lacks creativity. As the criticisms are still heard in the ear, this week Kenneth Ma and Tavia Yeung's medical drama The Hippocratic Crush (THC) premiered and suspicion of plagiarism emerges once again. This time viewers said that THC is a rip off of Mainland drama Healing Souls (HS) starring Francis Ng and Jessica Hsuan.

ATV bought the broadcast rights to air Healing Souls in 2008. After several years, it unexpectedly gets plagiarized by TVB. Looking back at the two series, it does indeed contain a lot of similarities. Although, TVB's The Hippocratic Crush only aired 4 episodes so far, the scene in the first episode about the unconscious child after a car accident and the 'Neurosurgery Intern', played by Kenneth Ma, happened to pass by to rescue him was the same type of scene as in Healing Souls's first episode. In HS, the scene was about a car accident, in which 'Neurosurgery Doctor', played by Francis Ng, also went to rescue the injured person. The two series were precisely the same from the first episode!

More 'coincidences' of the characters & setting

As far as the storyline goes for the two series, there are 'coincidences' as well. In both series, the lead actresses Jessica Hsuan (from HS) and Tavia Yeung (from THC) were both medical interns. The same holds true for the lead actors, Francis Ng (from HS) and Kenneth Ma (from THC), both did not get along with the lead actresses at first, but later developed a relationship.

In THC, Tavia's role grew up in a single-parent family because her parents were divorced and her mother later re-married. Many years later, Tavia and her biological sister Mandy Wong worked at the same hospital. In HS, Jessica's parents were divorced and she grew up in a single-parent family as well. The difference is, Jessica's father was the one who re-married and had a daughter (played by Liu Jia). Several years later, Jessica and her half-sister Liu Jia worked at the same hospital. There are too many coincidences between the two story lines. Reporters contacted The Hippocratic Crush's producer Poon Ka Tak about the issue, but he only said: "No comment!"

Past 'plagiarized' series

L'Escargot

This series just finished airing, but it was said to have plagiarized popular Mainland drama Dwelling Narrowness because Linda Chung's role was basically the pirated version of 'Hai Zao'. Both roles undertaken unethical transactions because they wanted to climb up top.

The Mysteries of Love

The series stars Raymond Lam and Tavia Yeung. Netizens said it was a copy off of Japanese drama Detective Galileo. Whether if its the story, the characters, profession or the personalities, it is all very similar to Detective Galileo.

Split Second

This 2004 series stars Kevin Cheng and Moses Chan. At the time, viewers said it was a copy off of the films Infernal Affairs, PTU and American series 24. Moses' role is similar to Anthony Wong's role in Infernal Affairs, many of the scenes resembled scene seen in PTU and the whole entire concept of the series was similar to 24.

Fiona Sit can accept passionate performance

The film MR. AND MRS. GAMBLER (LAN DOH FU DAU LAN DOH CHAI) two nights ago held its premiere. Wong Jing led actors Chapman To Man Jat, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Philip Ng Won Lung, new Jing Girl Hu Ran and others in the promotion. Fiona earlier almost tripped while performing at Wyman Wong's Hong Kong Coliseum concert. Two nights ago she insisted that she would not feel embarrassed but she had to thank Edmond Leung Hong Man and others for helping her with her shoes.

Two nights ago many artists attended the premiere. Aside from Fiona's rumored boyfriend Khalil Fong Datong, Jacqueline Chong Si Man, Carlo Chan Ka Lok, Michelle Wai (Si Ngai) and the rumored to be ill recently Law Kar Ying appeared. Brother Kar Ying took part in the film. He kept posing with female artists at the venue and did not appear to have any health issue. Sit Hoi Kei earlier at Wyman Wong's concert closing tripped on her dress. Even though Fiona did not fell her high heels flew to the sides of the stage and Leung Hong Man and others had to pick them up for her. Fiona deliberately laughed off the embarrassment when asked and said, "My long dresses of the previous shows were very graceful, but that night for the last show I switched to sing a happy song. I too wanted to have more fun . I wanted to jump up but the revolving stage tripped me up and my high heels went flying." Fiona said, "I have to thank Edmond, Grandpa (William So Wing Hong) for helping me without my shoes. Actually the most important is for everyone to have fun! I didn't feel embarrassed."

Fiona revealed that recently she has been working on a costume film in the Mainland and thus had a little kung fu background. She said, "The most important is to be able to complete a concert with love." Speaking of Eason Chan Yik Shun and Denise Ho Wan Si's kiss during the performance of PEERLESS ELEGANCE (FONG WA JUET DOI) Fiona said that she was in make up backstage and did not find out about this until she saw the video later. She said, "On the stage you have to do something that you normally wouldn't do!" She stressed that was a type of acting. Fiona also said, "If the song was right, when the mood was right I would do that too." To Man Jat said, "The most important is whether anyone would want to see it, if not that it's useless no matter how outrageous it is!" Ah Jat thought that both parties must communicate before such a gesture. He said that in the past he and Ah Si kissed in a series, he praised her as decent. He also said, "Getting to feel up is better than not. An artist sells art!"

Teresa Mo avoids old films

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Teresa Mo Shun Kwan yesterday appeared on Clifton Ko Chi Sum's ATV program. They talked about their classic comedy ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL (GA YAU HEI SI). Mo Mo said that actually this film was already 20 years old. Reporters said that she did not change much as if she took some preservatives. Mo Mo said, "No, many say I am getting prettier and prettier." She said that after so many years, she has already forgotten about the production until they started talking about it.

When she watched ALL'S again would she miss Gor Gor Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing in particular? Mo Mo admitted that she rarely watched it. She deliberately avoided it because she was afraid that she would remember Gor Gor and get upset. Thus she would avoid everything about Gor Gor. Earlier she watched her interview with Gor Gor because she forgot what she said back then.

Speaking of Denise Ho Wan Si and Eason Chan Yik Shun reprising Anita Mui Yim Fong and Gor Gor's PEERLESS ELEGANCE kiss, Mo Mo did not see it. Two nights ago she went to Ah Si's play AWAKENING, one of the supporting players joked that she wanted a kiss with Ah Si.

Leanne Li suffered binge eating disorder

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

Winning the 2005 Miss Chinese International Pageant, Leanne Li was known for beautiful figure. In her early career in the entertainment industry, Leanne had maintained a rigorous weight loss routine which resembled hell. Due to excessively suppressing her appetite, Leanne had exhibited symptoms resembling to bulimia, where every two weeks, she would binge eat, losing complete control!

Finding Respite in Praying to God

Leanne revealed, “As a child, I never considered that I would become an actress. I do not know how to socialize well. All along, I wished to become a graphic designer or teacher instead. I struggled over the decision as to whether to enter the entertainment industry with my family for a long time. Once I signed a contract with TVB, it would involve a two year commitment, with a stand alone option of another four years. In other words, if I felt that the first two years’ development was not good, I have the option to return to Canada to resume my studies. Although TVB’s offer was quite good, my family still worried that I was unfamiliar with Hong Kong and did not have any relatives to take care of me…. In the end, I chose to pray to God. After consistently praying for two to three months, my entire family found inner peace. My parents were willing to let me enter the entertainment industry. Reflecting back, this incident was quite a miracle!”

Mother Had High Expectations

Leanne stated, “In my first two to three months in the entertainment industry, my mother especially flew from Canada to join me in Hong Kong. Accompanying me on work excursions, she wanted to make sure that I did not possess any fears hosting a variety program and ascertain that the program’s Director and Assistant Director took care of me. My mother also arranged a couple to prepare soups for me, to ensure that I would be able to drink soups on a regular basis and reap the healing benefits.

“Although my parents were concerned about me working in the entertainment industry, they felt that once the decision was made, then I can only do my best. My parents possessed vey high expectations toward my career! Aside from noting how I dressed, my hairstyle and acting, my parents focused heavily on my physique. Therefore, early in my career, I worked very hard to lose weight. Each day, I went jogging for half an hour and ate modest meals. For my breakfast, I only ate one bowl of oatmeal. For my lunch, I ate steamed fish and boiled vegetables. At night, I ate the same boiled vegetables, a little meat and soup. I did not dare to eat rice. If I did not have time, I would eat fruit and salad.”

Binge Eating Disorder

“During those days, I appeared to be without any problems on the surface, but I felt very painful in my heart! When I could no longer tolerate my plain diet, my food cravings would suddenly erupt! I would eat a lot of snacks and cakes in one sitting. This type of binge eating broke out once every two weeks. One time, I felt so painful enduring my plain diet, I went to a buffet restaurant by myself on a whim after work. Why did I not ask a friend to the buffet with me? At that moment, I desperately wanted to eat a lot of food. If I were to ask someone to come along, it will take at least half an hour! I wanted to eat ravenously and could not even wait another half hour! Thus, I went to eat the buffet by myself.”

Envies Good Friend, Linda Chung

In her first two years in Hong Kong, Leanne lived at a dormitory that TVB provided for many overseas beauty pageant contestants, who did not have local relatives to take care of them, as a contract perk. Leanne said, “Despite this, I have only been able to send back money to my family in Canada recently. There are too many expenses that an artist has to incur. For example, we cannot buy clothes that are too cheap. We need to buy more cosmetic products than the average woman. Transportation costs are also very hefty, as I often need to take the taxi. Anyhow, it is very difficult to have spare cash left over!

“Of course, there are gains and losses. During my first few years in the industry, I struggled very hard, whether it involved money or my eating habits. However, I am very happy to have met a group of like-minded good friends. My first real friend in the industry is Linda Chung, who resided in the same dormitory provided by TVB. We lived together for half a year, which cemented our close friendship. Our personalities are very similiar; aside from possessing a Westernized personality, we are very gentle and deal with things carefully. We are not impulsive, but may be a bit faltering.

“Another close friend is Grace Wong. We became good friends because we also lived together. We are both Christians and at the time, both of us tried very hard to lose weight. Grace and I exercised the same restraints in our diet. At night, we would eat a dish of boiled vegetables together without any complaints!

“As for Linda, she is luckier than Grace and I. Although Linda also tries to eat very light, but every five minutes, she will put something in the microwave to eat. Perhaps it is due to her thinness, she will not get fat no matter how she eats! At the time, I was very envious of her. Each time after returning home from my daily jog, I would hear running the microwave. Each time, I would think, ‘Why do I still have to go running?’ It cannot be helped, things in life are not always fair!”

Jessica Hsuan returns to Hong Kong to enjoy time off

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

During the filming of mainland drama, Xiang Zhi’s Story of the New Capital Market <祥子的故事之新都巿人> earlier, Jessica Hsuan publicly blasted mainland co-star, Wang Zhaoming, for his hypocrosies and the difficulty encountered while working with him. Perhaps due to the difficult and exhausting experience encountered earlier, Jessica has decided to take a short break to rest and may go on vacation.

Making an appearance at a Giorgio Fedon event, Jessica revealed that she had returned to Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year holiday. Since TVB’s rival station, City Telecom (CTI) started actively recruiting former TVB artists and production staff, many people were tempted by the high salaries and good offers. Asked whether Jessica would also collaborate with Ricky Wong’s CTI, replied, “Last year, we discussed the possibility of working together. From what I hear, his company is quite good, allowing the production staff to have a lot of freedom in creative development.”

Pressed as to whether she was interested in working for CTI, Jessica said, “Right now, we do not have a finalized arrangement yet. We will continue to discuss the possibilities together. Hopefully, we can reach a mutual agreement!”

Jessica added that she wished to film a modern drama and assume a villainess role, giving the audience a fresh impression.

Miriam Yeung appears at Wyman Wong's concert with her big belly

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Lyricist Wyman Wong's 6 show exhibition concert ended last night. For the last show, he invited Daniel Chan, Edmond Leung, and Kay Tse as his special guests. Other guest performers included Eason Chan, Denise Ho, Joey Yung, Ivana Wong, Amanda Lee and Candy Lo. Cass Phang and pregnant Miriam Yeung were his secret guests.

Miriam appeared on stage with a long black dress and a bulging stomach. Her hands and feet were starting to get swollen as well. She performed - Too Bad I'm Aquarius (可惜我是水瓶座), Courage (勇) and Wild Child (野孩子) all in one go and the three songs were all composed by Wyman. Miriam supported her stomach with her hand on her back as she performed the songs and often bent her knees, making her husband Real Ting, sitting in the audience, very anxious.

Miriam excitedly greeted the audience and pulled up her long dress to show that she's wearing sneakers, very safe. She said: "Human relationships and feelings, people around may not realize or understand. The songs Wyman wrote for me, how can I perform all of his works in 10 minutes? I want to thank him for giving me an opportunity to perform his works." Wyman knows Miriam's favorite color is purple, so he especially tailored an all-purple suit, a bouquet of purple flowers and a purple baby stroller for Miriam. She was so touched by his arrangements, that she had tears forming in her eyes.

Wyman frankly said he took the initiative to invite Miriam out, but because of her pregnancy, there was too much uncertainty. He didn't get a response until two days ago. Without another word, Wyman immediately went to tailor a batch of purple gifts for her. Before the performance, he especially took time off to pick out the purple baby stroller. He said: "Miriam and I were once very close friends, but about 7 or 8 years in between, our relationship turned unfamiliar and we didn't keep in touch. (Tonight you are making up for it?) There is no hatred between her and I. We are on bad terms? That is just a rumor. It is the same for Gigi Leung and Leo Ku, we haven't collaborated for over 7 to 8 years. But, thinking back I promised Miriam before that I will definitely be there when she gets married and when I hold a concert, she must be there as well. (Any future collaborations?) Today, I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow, leave it to fate! But tonight, I will remember this scene for life."

Wyman frankly expressed this concert is like an one time collective trip for Hong Kong singers. It's full of love and beautiful memories, but he does in fact 'owe' a lot of favors from friends, and does not hope for a Part 2 to his concert. That night, Liza Wang, Stephen Chan, Virgina Lok and many more attended to show their support.

Noel Leung Attends Nnadia Chan’s Concert on Valentine’s Day

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Nnadia Chan (陳松伶) held her concert at the Hong Kong City Hall last night. Admitting that it has been a long time since she had performed in Hong Kong, Nnadia said that she will not remain in Hong Kong to further her career at the present time. Nnadia smiled and said that after marriage, she will focus on the household while her husband focuses on his career.

Asked whether she will have a baby soon, 41-year-old Nnadia said that she will try to conceive before turning 45 years old. Asked if she will attempt to conceive via invitro fertilization, Nnadia replied that if natural conception was unsuccessful, then she may consider invitro fertilization.

When Nnadia’ husband, Zhang Duo (張鐸), helped her to change costumes backstage, he accidentally tore her black stockings. The reporter teased the couple and said that Zhang Duo only knew how to take off her stockings, but not put it on. Nnadia said embarrasingly, “Chung Chung Jeh Jeh will not talk about these things!”

Noel Leung Supports Nnadia Chan’s Concert

At good friend, Nnadia’s Valentine’s Day concert, Noel Leung (梁小冰) appeared by herself to enjoy the performance. Noel indicated that she had already spent time with her young and old lovers (her son and husband). Her son gave her 99 pink roses in the morning and even played a song for her [on a musical instrument]! Noel indicated that her husband, Gary Chan (陳嘉輝), arranged a breakfast buffet for the family. Prior to attending Nnadia’s concert, Noel had prepared a heart-shaped steak for Gary.

Regarding her earlier rumors with former I-Cable host, Brian Wong, Noel noted that she will continue to treat him as her friend.

Ruco Chan and Kristal Tin Kiss and Sleep Together in New TVB Drama

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Kristal Tin (田蕊妮) and Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) appeared at the praying ceremony for their new TVB series. Kristal indicated that she always considered Ruco to be a very shy man. Originally, the drama did not have any kissing scenes; however, Kristal requested them to be added. “Aside from kissing scenes, I will request for bed scenes to be added too!”

Asked whether she required her husband, Chapman To’s (杜汶澤), permission before filming intimate scenes, Kristal replied, “There is no need to do so; we are professional actors. Chapman never asks me for permisson when he films intimate scenes!”

Will Kristal’s bold requests to add intimate scenes scare Ruco? Kristal deferred the question to Ruco, while noting that it was best for women to initiate intimate scenes. Both Kristal and Ruco were former ATV artists. Kristal said, “I feel happy that we have both improved. When we were at ATV, our efforts may not be proportionate to the realized rewards.”

Regarding his kissing scenes with Kristal, Ruco said, “I will not treat Kristal as another man’s wife! I will treat her as my girlfriend! Later, I will request kissing scenes too. It is not a problem to add bed scenes; they should not barely scratch the surface either!”
