The Miss Hong Kong 2012 "One Vote Per Person" failed due to a server crash, but TVB still hasn't given up on the idea. Their new goal is to let audience vote at the TVB Anniversary Awards for TV King and Queen. TVB Variety Shows Director (Sandy Yu Wing Shan) expressed the submissions on tvb.com/TVBfun for the 'Mini Cooper Prize' has been going smoothly, in 24 hours there were already over 700,000 people that registered and its getting heated response. Asked if there are actual plans to try the "One Vote Per Person" again for TV King and Queen? Sandy admitted there is this idea, but they have learned their lesson and will wrap up with the 'Mini Cooper Prize' event first, then see how it all goes. TVB also has to wait for the report on the Miss HK server crash issue before moving forward.

Sandy expressed the future shows will definitely have more interactions with the audience. After the Miss HK incident, they have been in touch with several other computer experts. One expert suggested them to have a member voting system to reduce the risk of hackers getting into the system; a suggestion TVB is considering. In the past, the public had always had doubts on if TVB internally sets who the TV King and Queen would be, but this time are they allowing audience to take control over the votes? Sandy said looking at the TV rating reports, we can see TVB's ratings makes up 80% or 90% of HK audience, so allowing the audience vote for TV King and Queen will prove TVB is an open-minded station. When the time comes, there will no longer be any of the supposed 'TVB Executive Parties' (e.g. Stephen Chan Party) and instead its going to be the 'Audience Party' because the TV King and Queen winners are voted by the audience. Sandy added the mechanism for TV King/Queen public voting is much more complicated, so more planning time is needed.
