Hong Kong Handover 15th anniversary award presentation ceremony was held at Central’s Four Seasons Hotel two nights ago, most of the award winners were from politics and business world, Andy Lau was the only representatives from showbiz as he was presented the Accomplishments Figure award.Andy who had recently spend months to take care of his daughter wore a gray color western suit to receive his award, he wanted to walk off the stage when the compere requested him to stay back to say his thank you speech. He exclaimed that he feel very honor and would be willing to do anything for the country.
During the interview after the presentation, when talked about him being the only representative from showbiz, he modestly expressed that he’s one responsible artiste, when asked if he feel that he’s impressive being the only representative from showbiz, he said: “I can’t say this, many thanks to all the votes from the judges and netizens to give me this recognition, hope that it will continues. (Would you be more pressurize after winning the award?) More on Hong Kong entertainment and movie industry.” When asked if he’s that accomplished, he quipped: “I did my responsibility as an artiste, maybe it’s due to my results in my films for the past 15 years, maybe with the film – A Simple Life, the film’s theme managed to bring Hong Kong films into Mainland China, it’s a very good example, I’ll continue to put efforts in my showbiz career, hope the Hong Kong entertainment will have an important position. (Will you be celebrating with your wife?) No need to celebrate.”
Of course, the media will be asking about his daughter, although Andy did not wish to talk about his family matters, but he still smile in return. When asked about his upcoming work, Andy revealed: “Would be collaborating with Sammi Cheng in Johnnie To’s film, but yet to be informed of the start date. (So how would you be able to take care of your daughter after resuming work?) It can be done, I can manage my time. (With regards to the current protests on adoption of Chinese civic education into Hong Kong public school curriculum, will he be worry about schooling and rather send his daughter to international school?) Need not think about it yet, not the time for her to study, furthermore I’m not too clear about it.”
