Before Deanie Ip had won the Best Actress awards at Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Film Awards with A Simple Life, she also won the Best Actress awards at overseas film festivals in Venice Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and others. Two days ago, news of A Simple Life winning awards came in as Deanie Ip was crowned Best Actress in the 33rd Durban International Film Festival in South Africa, once again won recognition for Hong Kong film industry.Another Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh won the Audiences’ Choice award with The Lady. The Best Film went to director Michael Haneke’s Amour and Julia Leigh won the Best First Feature Film.
