Andy autograph his book in Taiwan

Andy Lau and Deanie Ip went their separate ways to promote A Simple Life. Accompanied by director Ann Hui, Deanie was in Malaysia to attend Hong Kong Film Festival. When asked about Andy going to be a father soon, Deanie does not wish to say more as she answered: “Andy does not wish to promote the film with this.” However, she’s willing to share how she get along with Andy: “We always have topics to talk about, especially about renovations, we will discuss on what materials or paint to use, followed by what shall we be eating.”

Deanie exclaimed that A Simple Life brought her acting career to another new height and she believed it would not happen again: “Andy is very daring to invest in an art film, seldom people dare to invest in such films, and seldom film companies will approached me for films with my age.” It’s alleged that Ann Hui wanted to shoot a prequel of A Simple Life, Deanie quipped: “I’m worried that my wrinkles cannot stand it!”

“Malaysia son-in-law” Andy could be escaping questions on his family matters, thus he decided to promote the film in Taiwan, he held the autograph session for his book – My 30 Working Days: A Simple Life shooting diary.

Andy has been successful in his promotion as the first day box office taking for A Simple Life in Taiwan had exceeded NT$3500,000 and more than 500 fans came to support him at the autograph session, he said: “I still want to shoot an idol drama when I’m 80 years old, to become an idol forever!” The fans then replied and asked if he’s willing to marry the female fans as wife? Andy quipped: “This is against the law, isn’t it?” He joked: “I’m already old, my body cannot withstand it.”

“My 30 Working Days: A Simple Life shooting diary” is Andy’s second book. In showbiz for 30 years, Andy always had the habit to record down his shooting experience, especially for A Simple Life which is his first time shooting in Hong Kong in many years, thus have the special feeling as it also linked with the “love” theme and spirit of the film, he quipped: “Never expected that I can be an author.”

In the book, Andy revealed that he dream to be a director as when interviewed he revealed that his aim of entering showbiz is to become a director, but friends suggested and he became an actor till now. However, he had never gave up becoming a director, he said whenever he wanted to try out as a director, he would feel that he’s yet fully prepared. Looking at films directed by Johnnie To, he would feel that his ability still need to be strengthen, he feel that Jay Chou had done very well with Secret.

Andy revealed that before Giddens Ko (Chinese name read as ‘Jiu Ba Dao’ – Nine Swords) directed You Are the Apple of My Eye, he already had a script titled “The Days with Andy Lau”, but he’s worried that people would say that he copied the idea, thus he gave up. He then quipped: “I’m ‘Yi Ba Dao’ (One Sword)”

The first 30,000 printing of the book had been sold out, the fans still came and scream to support him. When the compere asked him about the baby shoe present from Zhang Xiaoyan, Andy did not change his attitude towards not talking about his family, he answered: “We will live happily, we are really blissful.”
