(Kenny & Patrick have a gay relationship in 4 In Love)

(Vin Choi and Choi Ho's transsexual marriage)

(Kenny & Janet Chow's meal on the bus)

Immediately following TVB's 'offending' producer Jonathan Chik and editor Chow Yuk-Ming's When Heaven Burns that stirred up controversies, the latest romantic comedy 4 In Love (Let It Be Love) is another one of their 'twin' productions that breaks through audience comfort zones. The four love stories makes up the backbone of the entire series. In the series, Kenny Wong's role as the sports news anchor starts a 'brokeback' relationship with the married journalist Patrick Dunn.

In episode 1 of 4 In Love, there was a scene where Kenny and Janet Chow were eating their meals on the bus, which had already led to complaints that its a violation (*See clip). However, the 'surprises' keeps on coming. In episode 3, there was a scene about Andy (Vin Choi) and transsexual Annie (Choi Ho) getting married, which foreshadowed Patrick Dunn's 'gay' relationship. Alvina Kong, who plays Patrick's wife, was shocked to learn the bride (Annie) was a transsexual, but her husband Patrick had an envious expression in his eyes as he watches the two marry.

Patrick's role is a wooden and gentleman, who is very attentive towards his wife, but in fact he's a homosexual. For 4 In Love, Patrick offered his first on-screen 'gay' relationship. Yesterday reporters contacted Patrick to ask about how the story develops, when will his sexual orientation be exposed? Patrick laughed: "Why should I spoil it so fast?" It was said he turned 'gay' at the wedding scene? He admitted that this is his first time playing a gay character, the role has good development and he really likes it. When shooting the scene where he confesses his love to Kenny, he was very into character and did not feel embarrassed at all.

When Patrick first read the script, his role was the common loving husband of Alvina, but later a third party intervenes in the relationship. When he started shooting, his role had already turned gay, but he did not resist, he felt it was going to be fun and a good development. He said when handling the brokeback feelings, producer Jonathan Chik was very careful and often times, he would personally monitor the set himself. His lines are very serious and does not just say he's madly in love with Kenny's role, but he speaks of the world of adult relationships. Patrick said its not embarrassing to have dating scenes with Kenny, it's just like doing the scene with a female, just as into character.

Previous Homosexual show received 22 complaints

Homosexual lovers have always been seen as a sensitive topic. Rarely any Hong Kong TV series touches this topic to avoid controversy, but 4 In Love already had a brokeback relationship and transsexual marriage, but there has been no complaints so far.

Regarding the previous homosexual shows that have provoked controversy includes 2007's RTHK informational program Hong Kong Connection -- Homosexual . Lover, the Broadcasting Authority received 22 complaints on the show promoting homosexuals and serves as a negative influence on young people. In response to this, the Broadcasting Authority issued a "Viewer Discretion Strongly Advised" warning. The incident stirred up extensive discussion in society. The Gay interviewees from the program showed dissatisfaction on how their freedom of speech was restricted and wanted a judicial review. In 2008, they finally won the case.

  1. Say NO to homosexuality on main stream TV! Let not our younger generation accept this kind of morality. Amen

  2. I think you need to mind your own business and not push your outdated and quite frankly disgusting values on everyone else.
