TVB & HKRIA officially breaks the ice, comes to an agreement

Saturday, November 19, 2011 Posted by Admin 0 comments
TVB and HKRIA finally settles the two year royalty disputes and comes to an agreement. According to [Mingpao]'s reliable news, yesterday TVB and HKRIA signed the agreement memorandum. The two year dispute ends right before the TVB anniversary celebrations start, which is indeed very good news. Both sides maintains the friendly relations and kicks off a new start in their relationship. Today, the first step launches from having the singers under the Big 5 record companies begin their promotions back on TVB.

HKRIA members includes Hong Kong Big 5 record companies -- Universal, Warner, SONY, EMI and BMA (new member of 2010). Yesterday it was officially announced that HKRIA signed the agreement with TVB and successfully patches up the old relationship. The dispute dates back in December of 2009 when HKRIA raised the royalty tax on TVB to nearly HK$10 million for their music programs. Since then the relationship turned bitter, both sides were unwilling to give in and thus leading to TVB's ban on the singers under Big 5, prohibiting them to appear on their station.

According to the source, during the negotiations, TVB insisted to keep their policies for the singers the same. The restrictions on contracted singers remains intact, that is they are not allowed to appear on other TV stations. Previously, it was rumored TVB gave in and agreed to let singers go on other TV stations, but according to the source, it is vital for TVB to keep the same policies they have for the singers. The contracted singers will just have to respect the agreement. Singers who are under a TVB contract will have priority in their television programs. It was said HKRIA proposed that the royalty tax can be negotiated, therefore the two sides are able to 'shake hands'. Indeed, a happy ending.

(Fala Chen and FAMA records a clip to welcome and congratulate Linda joining them)

Yesterday Linda Chung announced she's joining the record company Stars Shine, a company who has their new songs supplied by Neway. This means, Linda will officially be the 'see-mui' of Joyce Cheng and Fala Chen. Her new boss, Herman, gave her a crystal that spelled out her English name "Linda". This meaningful gift is to wish Linda to develop a shining career. TVB executive Virgina Lok was also present to show her support.

Linda expressed she has been collaborating with Herman for two years already, since he was the producer for her last two albums and established that mutual trust, therefore she feels the sense of security when joining this company. She said: "I will be releasing a new album November 2012, so this year I won't be participating in the awards ceremony. For my new album, I have already chosen 6 songs. I will maintain the trend of including my creative work (composing songs) into each of my albums. When its applicable, I can also compose songs for other singers as well. I composed a lot and can get even more inspirations at any time. My company has also been giving me a lot of freedom in this area." Linda expressed besides singing, she will still keep her "4 series per year" tradition. Aside from hoping her series does well every year, she also hopes her album sells well.

Linda has saved up a collection of songs that she composed, most were written based on her own personal experiences. Asked if she will use ex-rumored boyfriend Raymond Lam her songs? She laughed: "That is a good idea, if I'm using Raymond, I will have to put in the unforgettable story we had in series." Asked if she written any songs for others? "Yes, but this is personal. I will put my feelings into the songs, but I don't have to make it public nor do I have to say who I'm writing about."

Myolie Wu Lost All Confidence And Considered Giving Up Acting

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) entered the entertainment industry after winning the 1999 Miss Hong Kong Second Runner-up title. Since entering TVB as a 19 year-old student, Myolie possessed numerous opportunities. Portraying a mentally challenged person in 2002’s Golden Faith "流金歲月", Myolie flashed her brilliance. In 2006, Myolie gained 40 pounds in 3 months to act in To Grow With Love "肥田囍事", which grabbed the masses’ interest. However, this “representative work” also became Myolie’s nightmare.

To Grow With Love did not bring any awards upon Myolie and eroded her confidence in her acting abilities instead. Myolie was also heavily criticized by netizens in only possessing a “gwing” expression (囧樣) during that period, leading her to question whether she was suitable in being an actress.

In 2010, Myolie finally stepped out of the haze and became the hot favorite to win the TV Queen title this year. Whether it was netizens’ preference or TVB management’s decision, Myolie noted that she resumed confidence in herself. Despite being nominated for her role in Curse of the Royal Harem "萬凰之王" instead of the more popular Ghetto Justice "怒火街頭" , this did not decrease her chances in winning the Best Actress Award.

The reporter conducted an interview with Bobby Au Yeung (歐陽震華) earlier and asked who he supported to win the TV Queen title. Without thinking, Bobby uttered Myolie’s name. Aside from their harmonious collaboration in House of Harmony and Vengeance "耀舞長安", Bobby noted, “Myolie told me that she did not feel that she possessed fate with the audience. She said she had lost confidence in herself. I watched her performance in The Rippling Blossom "魚躍在花見" and felt that she acted quite well, showing much improvement! I have a tendency to root out the strong to protect the weak, so I support Myolie!”

Stuck With the “Gwing” Label

After listening to Bobby’s praise towards her, Myolie was moved, “I am very happy and thank Bobby for his support!” The reporter asked why Myolie had confided in Bobby in such a manner since she often projected a sense of confidence and did not come across as an insecure person. It turned out that since To Grow With Love, Myolie’s career had halted and did not advance forward. The outside world thought that perhaps Myolie was dragged down by the “gwing” label” however, the real source of pain came from elsewhere.

Myolie stated, “In 2006, when I was somewhat considered to be a new artist, I filmed To Grow With Love. TVB suddenly added an extra award at the TVB Anniversary Awards that year. At the time, I knew there was no chance that I would win the Best Actress Award over Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼). As there was one big award and one small award, I thought I might have a chance in winning the small award since I had endured so much for To Grow With Love! However, I did not win any awards that evening. At the time, I did not mind losing, but I never thought that I would lose at such a low level! From that point onwards, I lost all confidence in myself. In the past, I had good audience fate, but suddenly I lost it all!”

Will Not Film Any More Comedies

Over the last few years, the audience felt that Myolie only acted with a gwing expression. The truth was that she had considered giving up, “At the time, I did not have confidence in any of the roles I acted in and kept questioning myself. I wondered whether I was truly so terrible and whether it was suitable to remain an actress? I felt very lost while filming War and Beauty "亂世佳人", The Master of Tai Chi "太極" and When a Dog Loves a Cat "當狗愛上貓". I was stuck in a bottleneck and could not surge past it. It was a very painful period. Afterward, my family recounted the experience, noting that I was emotionally turbulent. Fortunately, my sister was a counselor and often provided encouragement, helping me overcome this low point.”

After encountering such a low point in her life, Myolie cherished today’s peak much more. As TVB and netizens’ hot favorite to win the Best Actress Award, Myolie thanked them for their support. In addition, Myolie noted that her costars in The Rippling Blossom, Damien Lau (劉松仁) and Chilam Cheung (張智霖), helped her regain confidence in acting again. “I learned a lot from Damien Lau and Chilam Cheung. Perhaps I had filmed too many similar roles in the past. Going forward, I hope to portray roles similar to Curse of the Royal Harem "萬凰之王". Perhaps let someone else act in the romantic comedies!”

Asked whether she possessed confidence in winning the TV Queen Award, Myolie said, “My confidence level is 80%. If I were to win, I hope it is not based on seniority and wish that it is due to the audience’s support!”

Bosco Wong Is Not Good Enough

Although 32-year-old Myolie Wu was in a stable relationship with Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), she did not possess the urge to get married. “I am still young; even Charmaine Sheh is continuing to take great leaps forward in her career at 35-years-old! Let’s wait another 3 or 4 years first!” Asked whether she had settled upon Bosco as her marriage partner, Myolie laughed and said that Bosco was not good enough and needed time to consider carefully. “You can never be good enough in this aspect. There is always room for improvement; he knows that fully well!”

Shu Qi Takes Hiatus From Acting Career to Explore Life

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Last night, numerous celebrities from Hong Kong and Taiwan attended a Giorgio Armani promotional event. Shu Qi (舒淇)announced that she will take a hiatus from her acting career and will suspend all work engagements for at least six months to recover lost personal space in life. Shu Qi frankly admitted that the her leave-of-absence from acting will have zero impact on her financial condition.

Wearing a sexy dress valued at $200,000 HKD, Shu Qi appeared in the finale of Armani’s show. Asked whether she had been invited to appear in the new James Bond Hollywood movie, Skyfall, Shu Qi indicated that she did not receive the invitation to do so. She found out about it through media correspondence. Asked whether she was interested in portraying a Bond girl, Shu Qi replied, “I have no interest to do so currently!” (What if you were only asked to appear beautiful and there was no need for action sequences?) “Let someone else take the opportunity! I have been acting for over a dozen years. Right now, I wish to take a rest and not film any movies for a period of time.” (Do you need to reduce stress?) “Yes, I filmed many movies. If I continue in the current manner, I may lose the passion for acting!”

Shu Qi added, “Due to my acting career, I lost my own personal space. I wish to adjust my lifestyle: to simply eat, play, and see my friends.” Asked whether she intended to pave her romantic future with the six months of rest, Shu Qi said that it was difficult to say. Shu Qi joked that if she possessed such financial acumen as Rosamund Kwan (關之琳), who also appeared at the Armani function, then she would feel pampered.

Noting that her hiatus will not affect her financial state, Shu Qi stated bluntly, “I can eat a meal for $1 dollar and do not need to eat expensive food!”

Bernice Liu will retire from showbiz once she has children

Friday, November 18, 2011 Posted by Admin 0 comments
As far as Bernice Liu is concerned, the most fearful thing is when the elders back in her hometown ask of her rumors. Bernice frankly said she has been asked by the elders living in her hometown when she'll be getting married, but she directly told them she had other plans.

Although Bernice has a Western character, when it comes to marriage, she is extremely longing for it: "I have thought before if I'm married, will I retire from showbiz? I think what I really can't put down is children, I love children and if I do have children myself, I will definitely leave this industry. I hope to concentrate on my children and watch them grow. (Have you thought of blind dates?) I don't know! I may even do a lightning marriage, but definitely will notify my parents. I won't just flash away like that!"

Bernice said without hiding that she originally planned to be married 8 years ago: "I initially planned to be married by age 24, but it's long past now! My next check point? Not set, everyone (people in hometown) ask me when, but I have no pressure, just focusing on looking after my dogs at home. In fact, the people at my hometown all care about my health more than the rumors. I feel they really do have the humanity, so I tell myself I cannot forget my roots. The entertainment business can easily turn you into a materialistic person. As long as you don't forget your roots, then you cannot become materialistic. In the past, each year during this time, I would be bombarded by questions regarding the TVB anniversary, but now I can do the things I like to do, return to my hometown and charity work."

TVB hands over treasured films to Hong Kong Film Archive
__________________________________________________________

Since opening in 1967, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) has acquired many old Hong Kong films, including an impressive collection of 16mm and 35mm film copies, that provide free entertainment for viewers.

To show its ardent support for the preservation of film heritage, TVB has handed over about 1,000 film titles from the 1930s to the 1990s to the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) for permanent preservation. About 60 per cent of these archival films are new to the HKFA and will consequently greatly enrich its collection.

To mark the occasion, the TVB Film Treasures Handover Ceremony was held today (November 17) at the HKFA, with the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mrs Betty Fung, and the Assistant General Manager of TVB, Mr Peter Au, as officiating guests.

Film stars attending the ceremony included Ms Lee Hong-kum, Ms Helena Law, Mr Tam Ping-man, Mr Woo Fung, Mr Lee Tim-shing, Mr Michael Tse, Miss Myolie Wu, Mr Evergreen Mak, Miss Mag Lam, Ms Rebecca Zhu and others.

Mrs Betty Fung noted that the HKFA is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and with staunch support from the film industry, the HKFA has acquired over 10,000 films for its collection. For its part, the TVB film library is one of the pioneers in collecting and preserving Hong Kong's film heritage.

She thanked TVB for its generous support in handing over 937 films to the HKFA for preservation and research purposes, saying that the HKFA would treasure the films, continue its efforts in film research and showcase these archival treasures on the silver screen.

Mr Peter Au observed that the HKFA has acquired a rich collection of films and has made tremendous efforts to promote film culture. He believed that the handover of the films to the HKFA would lead to even greater sharing of its archival treasures with the public and better promote Hong Kong's film heritage.

TVB's collection is distinguished not only by its size but also by the wide variety of genres it covers. About 600 film titles, including 27 Chaozhou and Amoy dialect films, are new to the HKFA's collection. In addition, eight of the films are on the list of the HKFA’s recently recommended "100 Must-See Hong Kong Movies". The handover is an important milestone in the preservation of Hong Kong's film industry.

Films to be handed over include the earliest Chinese film in TVB's library, "Little Heroine" (1939), starring Hu Rongrong and Kung Chiu-hsia; and the earliest Hong Kong film in the library, "Female Spy 76" (1947) starring Wu Lai-chu and Wang Hao. The eight films on the list of HKFA's recommended "100 Must-See Hong Kong Movies" are: "Wong Fei-hung's Whip that Smacks the Candle" (1949), "Wong Fei-hung Burns the Tyrants' Lair" (1949), "Blood-stained Azaleas" (1951), "Mysterious Murderer" (1951) parts one and two, "Butterfly and Red Pear Blossom" (1959), "Father is Back" (1961) and "The Pregnant Maiden" (1968).

Fala Chen appears in public with her 'Neway Prince' boyfriend for the first time

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Yesterday Giorgio Armani held the 'Retrospective Red Carpet' party to announce the all new Armani Chater House store grand opening in Hong Kong. It was a star-studded party with many artists from greater China attending as guests including Shu Qi, Kwan Lun Mei, Rosamund Kwan, Wu Chun, Chen Kun, Moses Chan, Chilam Cheung, Anthony Wong and Fala Chen, who attended with her boyfriend Sit Sai Hang (Neway Prince).

Fala walked out on stage with her elegantly dressed boyfriend, Sit Sai Hang. This is the first time the couple appeared together in a public event and had a very generous attitude. Fala kept her hand linked on Sit's arm, but Sit remained stiff because he isn't used to facing so many reporters. When he was taking pictures with Fala, Sit was clearly nervous.

Later during interviews with the media, Sit was shy and stepped aside, leaving Fala alone for the interviews. She said this is their first time at a public event together: "My boyfriend knows the executive of Giorgio Armani, and was invited to this event as well, so we attended together." When speaking of Sit's stiff expressions? Fala laughed: "I'm not used to this either, it's our first time, he's feeling shy!"

The two are in a stabled relationship, next time when we see the couple again, will they be announcing their marriage? Fala said: "Its hard to say. This is our first time together at an event and for the future I will try to come out with him more. I'll tell him to stop being at home reading books. This time we are here to celebrate the store opening ceremony." Fala ditched her boyfriend and did the interviews herself, is she afraid he would leak out the marriage news? Fala laughed: "Now, now, you all will scare him away if you are like this."

As for Aimee Chan's boyfriend Moses Chan, attended the event alone. He said he is a loyal fan of Armani. This is the first time he's participanting in their event dressed in their (Armani) clothing. When asked if he'll appear in matching outfits with girlfriend Aimee? He said: "We'll have to see how the arrangements go next time. If we are together, then we will."

Chilam Cheung appeared at the opening ceremony with a small beard. He revealed he deliberately spent 3 days growing a beard just to accommodate Armani's clothing. Chilam smiled and said his appearance money tripled. Asked if his wife refused to kiss him since he has so much facial hair? He said the question is too sensitive and that he didn't know how to answer. Asked if he's still just as handsome with this new look? He laughed: "It's your call." He expressed his son is already used to his new look.

Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Lau Ching Wan mess up a fight scene

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Lau Ching Wan in the film THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI) fought over Zhou Xun with brains and brawls, hand to hand and with weapons. However one scene in which they were in close combat with weapons became a source of comedy. The director arranged for them to be in a long sword dule, but Ching Wan during the fight broke the sword in half and the shoot was instantly silent. Later the director used his quick wit and went with the meteor hammer. Because the result was surprisingly good, this scene was added into the film. Ching Wan said, "The director asked me to pick up the hammer and swing it a few times. Who knew the result would be cool and the hammer and sword duel was pretty interesting."

Wai Jai who has worked on many action scenes admitted that he enjoyed this battle with the meteor hammer the most, because everyone was at ease to concoct a sense of humor. However during the fight scene they fought behind the curtain. Ching Wan played like he was stabbed and collapsed. One of the crew thought it was real and screamed and they had to shoot the scene again. Wai Jai said, "As I lunged toward Ching Wan, someone screamed. I thought I actually injured Ching Wan, but Ching Wan looked at me with a face full of suspicion. Then I realized that the sound came from outside. After leaving that curtain we realized that someone messed up."

As TVB’s # 1 Earner, Kevin Cheng Kicks Michael Tse Aside to Reign as TV King

Posted by Admin 0 comments
The 2011 TVB Anniversary Awards will be held on December 5, 2011. Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) and Michael Tse (謝天華) were the hot favorites in the TV King race this year. Portraying an uncouth lawyer in Ghetto Justice "怒火街頭", Kevin Cheng’s acting was praised to have improved immensely. In addition, critically acclaimed mainland drama, Bu Bu Jing Xin "步步驚心", received wide popularity, boosting Kevin’s recognition through the stratosphere! This year, “Poisonous Kevin’s” luck turned around, allowing him the chance to return to mainland each week to earn money. It was expected that Kevin will even replace Moses Chan (陳豪) as TVB’s top earning artist!

In order to retain a new “Golden Egg,” TVB executive, Virginia Lok (樂易玲) pulled out all stops to convince TVB management to give Kevin Cheng the TV King title. “Laughing Gor” Michael Tse could only accompany the Best Actor race and be happy for someone else!

Kevin Cheng’s Chances of Winning Are High

On November 10th, TVB revealed the nomination list for the upcoming Anniversary Awards. The race for TV King and TV Queen were the most popular awards categories. The list of the 15 Best Actor nominees included Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), who won the TV King title the last consecutive years. Unfortunately, Wayne’s Forensic Heroes 3 "法證先鋒III" was not a big hit and his chances of winning the TV King title for the third time was defeated. In addition, Yes Sir, Sorry Sir’s "點解阿Sir係阿Sir" Moses Chan and Men With No Shadows’ "不速之約" Raymond Lam (林峯) admitted that they were only accompanying the Best Actor race.

Early Favoritism for Michael Tse Slipped Away

TVB secured Francis Ng (吳鎮宇) to costar with Michael Tse in film, Laughing Gor, Potential Criminals "Laughing Gor之潛罪犯". TVB’s favoritism towards Michael was obvious and his apparent domination as the TV King was almost guaranteed initially. However, Kevin’s mainland drama, Bu Bu Jing Xin, became a popular hit last month, resurrecting “Poisonous Kevin’s” career. Over the last few months, Kevin had the opportunity to travel to China each week to earn real money. Last week, Kevin appeared in functions in Hongzhou, Beijing, and Wuhan, earning nearly $300,000 Yuan per event in appearance fees. In one week alone, Kevin earned $1 million Yuan! Kevin’s luck turned around completely and was estimated to overturn Moses Chan as the top money-making actor at TVB!

Aside from bringing in additional income from promotional events, Kevin’s filming fees increased tenfold, jumping from past fees of $10,000 Yuan to current fees of $160,000 Yuan per episode. After filming mainland drama Palace Spy Video "深宮諜影" in Shanghai in October, additional mainland companies invited Kevin to partake in new series. Committed to filming Ghetto Justice 2, Kevin will be unable to film dramas in China until December. Placing TVB’s priority first under all circumstances, Kevin gave face to the company.

Kevin Loved By Virginia Lok

Becoming the new “Golden Egg,” Kevin was one of Virginia Lok’s beloved artists. Due to his astonishing ability to generate money, Kevin once again became highly favored. Ms. Lok put in her best efforts to back Kevin’s chances of winning the TV King award. Michael Tse was fortunate to receive the support of TVB executive, Tommy Leung (梁家樹), who believed that this will increase promotion and box office draw for the release of Laughing Gor, Potential Criminal’s theatrical release in December 2011.

TVB executive support for the TV King winner was important; however, the company valued popular opinion as well. In the past, the winner was largely determined via TVB executives’ votes, while this year, audience’s votes were the last determining factor. This placed the favor in Kevin’s hands, who possessed a large number of fans in China. After one week of voting on TVB.com, Michael Tse’s top position was edged out by Kevin Cheng, who surged to number one in both the Best Actor and My Favorite Male Actor awards categories. In the Best Actor poll at TVB.com, Kevin received 38% of votes, Michael Tse received 25% of votes, and Wayne Lai received 8% of votes.

Fala Chen Pulls Her Magic

The TV Queen race was a sole battle between Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) and Fala Chen (陳法拉). Virginia Lok highly favored Fala and to overturn Myolie, adjusted the nomination list. This year’s Anniversary Awards set up a new rule to restrict only one nominated series for each artist. Instead of being nominated for her role in Ghetto Justice, Myolie was nominated for her performance as the evil empress in Curse of the Royal Harem "萬凰之王", weakening her votes in the Best Actress Award race. However, the finale of Curse of the Royal Harem will be aired two days before the TVB Anniversary Awards take place.

In addition, OTO massage chair was this year’s TVB Anniversary Awards online voting sponsor. As OTO’s spokesperson and appearing in the OTO ad placed before the voting page, Fala possessed the advantage of having the exposure. OTO sponsored over $1 million HKD in advertising fees and requested that Fala maintain a high number of votes. The timing favored Fala, who possessed a high chance to win the Best Actress Award.

Artists Speak Out for Their Favorites

The battles for TV King and TV Queen were getting heated, with different supporters emerging for Kevin Cheng and Michael Tse. The ever popular Wayne Lai and dark horse candidate, Raymond Lam, also had their share of supporters, making the battle become increasingly fierce!

Chapman To (杜汶澤): “There were so many episodes to the Laughing saga, which made the character very well known among the audience, increasing Michael Tse’s chance in winning.”

Raymond Lam (林峯): “Forensic Heroes 3 received good ratings and word-of-mouth. I have always felt confident in Wayne Lai, so I pick him!”

Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣): “Earlier, I collaborated with Myolie Wu and felt that her acting was very good. She portrayed her roles in Ghetto Justice and Curse of the Royal Harem very well this year.”

Tavia Yeung (楊怡): “I think Fala Chen has a good chance, since she improved a lot and matured very quickly.”

“When Heaven Burns” Sparks Anger by Referencing Beyond’s Tragedy 18 Years Ago

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Although When Heaven Burns (天與地), was ignored by TVB management and was delayed in broadcast for two years, the drama sparked a lively online discussion among netizens. The series particularly attracted the fans of music group, Beyond, due to the story centering around four band members and the tragic death of one member 18 years ago. Allegedly, When Heaven Burns contained heavy references to Beyond and was criticized in drawing inspiration from Wong Ka Kui’s (黃家駒) accidental death while on a concert tour in Japan in 1993.

When Heaven Burns will be broadcast in Hong Kong on Monday, November 21st. Online forums were filled with heated debate over the series, which centered around Moses Chan (陳豪), Bowie Lam (林保怡), Kenny Wong (黃德斌), and an additional friend forming a band, Happiness and Anger, together. While mountain climbing, the men were trapped in the snow and resorted to cannibalism upon one band member, who possessed an illness, in order to survive.

Since the story of When Heaven Burns started 18 years ago, fans were suspicious about the references to music group, Beyond. Netizens analyzed the characterizations, noting that Moses Chan, who enjoyed Muay Thai boxing, bore the shadow of Beyond member, Paul Wong (黃貫中). Bowie Lam and Astrid Chan (陳芷菁) were replicas of Wong Ka Keung (黃家強) and his Japanese wife. Kenny Wong was the equivalent of Yip Sai Wing (葉世榮). Since the characters in When Heaven Burns enjoyed playing in a band, Producer Jonathan Chik (戚其義) invited Paul Wong to sing the series’ theme and ending songs, sparking further controversy.

Accused of referencing Beyond, Moses emphasized that When Heaven Burns focused on the theme of humanity. When it was pointed out that Moses’ character loved Muay Thai boxing, which was Paul Wong’s passion, Moses remarked, “Really? I did not know that Paul enjoys Muay Thai boxing! The story spoke about a tragic accident occurring 18 years ago, which was the same time Wong Ka Kui’s death occurred. It was just a coincidence; When Heaven Burns should have been broadcast last year.”

Since When Heaven Burns will not be broadcast until next Monday, Paul Wong’s manager refrained from commenting whether the series drew references upon the real life experiences of Beyond band members.

Irene Wan longs for Award

Posted by Admin 0 comments
The film TRESPASS held a Hong Kong premiere two nights ago. Attending artists included Irene Wan Bik Ha, Wylie Chiu Shek Chi and Sukie Shek Wing Lei. Irene revealed that most recently with the film 72 MARTYRS (YING HUNG DIP HUET) she received a Macau International Film Festival Best Supporting Actress nomination. She was also the film's only actor to receive a nomination. Wan Bik Ha felt her co-stars Tse Kwan Ho and Liu Kai Chi were overlooked.

Why was Irene not nominated for Best Actress? Irene said that the film was the Revolution, so the nomination category did not matter. The ceremony will take place on December 7 and she will attend. Irene said, "I truly long to win this award." Her husband would also try to make time to go with her. Reporters said that her adopted son was very for lucky for her. She said, "Right, many people have said that. Maybe he has brought luck to me."

Nancy Wu denies trying to patch her relationship with Kenneth Ma

Thursday, November 17, 2011 Posted by Admin 0 comments
Nancy Wu and Kenneth Ma have been rumored for several years now. Last year it was said they broke up, but yesterday a magazine reported again that Nancy is working hard trying to patch things up. It was rumored she asked TVB to give her the chance to go work in New Zealand with Kenneth, so she can patch things up while at work. Also, she passed the 'mother-in-law' test and successfully got back together with Kenneth. Yesterday Nancy denied the rumor and stressed she has only been good friends with Kenneth all along. They have never dated before.

Regarding the trip this month to New Zealand with Kenneth, as guest performers for the Miss Chinese International Pageant, Nancy was said to be taking the opportunity to patch up her relationship. She laughed and said she doesn't have the ability to ask TVB to do anything. This time, her trip to New Zealand is entirely arranged by TVB. She stressed she never dated Kenneth and has always been good friends, so she sees this report as a joke. However, Nancy welcomes anyone to give her and Kenneth jobs, they can earn money together as an on-screen couple. As if there is a chance to develop a relationship with Kenneth? She said Kenneth is a very good man, but it is all about fate.

Sharon Chan chooses a firing red outfit ready to take the Best Supporting Actress award

Posted by Admin 0 comments
This year Sharon Chan is nominated for TVB's 'Best Supporting Actress' and 'My Favorite TV Female Character' depended on her role in Ghetto Justice. There are several reports that say Sharon is the hottest choice for 'Best Supporting Actress' and currently on the TVB.com voting, Sharon is leading the votes. Even in the Malaysian Astro TVB Awards held late-November, Sharon is the hottest choice for 'Best Supporting Actress' as well. Yesterday Sharon was choosing her outfit for the TVB Anniversary ceremony.

Yesterday Sharon chose two different outfits. One is a red colored tube dress and the other one is a black lace see-through long dress. When asked if she's going to be the sexiest artist at the TVB Anniversary Awards since the noise for her to win an award is pretty high? Sharon said frankly: "This year, I do have hopes for 'Best Supporting Actress', of course I want to appear beautiful at the event. However, since I'm 'Hot Leg Goddess', of course I'll just be revealing my legs and back. As for the chest reveals, leave that to others with the qualities."

When speaking of Liza Wang's praises that she's a real 'fighter', Sharon said: "I am happy to be praised by Ah Jeh (Liza). Also for Ghetto Justice, my role had good response. I will also have to put in the effort in for the fight myself. I hope everything goes smoothly and I can get the award. Over the last many years, this role is indeed a breakthrough for me. (Have you already prepared your acceptance speech?) I'm prepared! Whether I win or not, I will still be prepared, otherwise I'll blank out!"

Kelly Chen admits she is 3 months pregnant again via artificial insemination

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Yesterday Kelly Chen attended the DAKS 2012 Spring and Summer Women Fashion Show in a Halter back-revealing dress. When Kelly appeared on stage, she had her hands over her stomach and her dress was a tight fit, so it was clearly seen her cup size increased. Also, Kelly didn't wear her favorite high heels to the event, but instead changed into flat shoes. She walked calmly and was very careful in her steps. There is a strong possibility that she is pregnant!

When Kelly was asked if she was pregnant? Kelly at first appeared shocked, but after glancing over to her assistant and manager, she admitted she is pregnant through artificial insemination (IUI). She said: "Actually I can say it now! (The baby is over three months?) Yeah, it was because before my stomach wasn't showing, so I was able to wear heels. Once my stomach started showing, I switched to flat shoes. (Is the baby a boy or a girl?) Not sure, haven't checked yet. We are not at that stage yet. (Just one baby?) Yes, it is an AI baby." As for the expected due date, Kelly was unwilling to reveal.

Kelly said her feeling for this pregnancy this time is not too different from when she was carrying her son (Chace Lau). She hasn't experienced morning sickness and only gained a few pounds. Kelly said her entire family is very happy and excited she is pregnant again. Chace still doesn't know he's a big brother yet. Kelly laughed and said her husband hasn't been much of a help: "My son is always fussing to be carried, my husband can help carry him, since he's too heavy, sometimes I can't even carry him. During the evenings, I get tired, especially after dinner. So now, I skipped many meals because I can't eat too much, otherwise I would feel too sleepy! (Are you the Queen at home?) I never have been!"

Kelly Chen currently stars in Raymond Wong's Lunar New Year film The Eight Happiness with Louis Koo, she said: "Nobody on the crew knows, I fear they would all try to accommodate me. In fact, I will be more careful when we are shooting, but all of my scenes are just speaking. I just stand around every day, very easy to accommodate and there are many laughing scenes."

Selena Li's suspected involvement in a pyramid scheme, damages reputation reserves right to take legal action

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Selena Li has been said to be involved in a case of beauty cash-planting scheme (or a pyramid scheme). A 18 year old girl complained that a salesperson tried to sell her Body 9ine Culture product coupons, in which Selena is spokesperson for. The salesperson also tried to persuade her to borrow money using false information and join the marketing industry. All she has to do is buy a course of beauty treatment, take a course at Selena's Technique Beauty School (TBS) and sign a contract to become the company called, Enlighten, business development director. Soon after, the girl felt uneasy and disclosed the incident. Yesterday Selena appeared at TVB City to clarify the incident has nothing to do with her beauty school and she reserves the right to take legal action.

More Details (Spoiler):

[Apple Daily 11/16/2011] It all started from a survey. A salesperson asked a young girl (let's call her Katie) if she's interested in participating in a survey and to buy a coupon for beauty products (Body 9ine Culture). After some time of chatting, Katie handed over HK$290 to buy a coupon and even left her phone number with the salesperson. A few days later, Kate was brought to Selena's beauty school, TBS, that she opened in Jordan. Katie was persuaded to become a salesperson with the company (Enlighten), all she had to do was pay a HK$600 registration fee and to get the marketing rights. The company gave her 520 coupons to sell. If Katie is able to sell 1 coupon, she would earn HK$250 cash and if the customers use the coupon, she would earn 12% commission. If she was able to get more people to join the pyramid, however much they sell, she would get 4% commission. It sounds great, but Katie first has to pay HK$28,800 for makeup courses and beauty products. Katie is only working part-time, but only earns little over HK$1,000, so of course she won't be able to pay it off. Katie was urged to use false information to borrow money from a financial company. With the false information, she was able to borrow HK$30,000. She would repay the amount over a 5 year period, each month she has to pay about HK$1,000. When added up all together, she will have to pay back over HK$70,000. Katie, successfully becomes the company's business development director, but the false information given is illegal.

Yesterday afternoon, Selena appeared at TVB City for an interview. She stressed the beauty school she opened earlier, TBS, is not involved in this case. Selena expressed "Enlighten" is one of TBS's business partners, responsible to market the school's products and courses. If there is success in recruiting new students, there will be commission earned. So, sometimes there would be new students that go up to TBS for a tour. Enlighten's offices are also neighboring TBS, but Selena does not know of Enlighten's internal operations. It was only yesterday when Selena saw the report that she realized how much confusion there is in Enlighten's business operations and that they didn't fulfill the requirements, so she immediately cut off the collaboration with them. Also, she stressed she is only Body 9ine Culture's spokesperson and is not involved in their business operations. Her beauty school (TBS) is completely independent of the company.

Selena reiterated that her beauty school has nothing to do with this incident. If she really was involved in the fraudulent case, she believes she would already be in the police station. Yesterday after Selena saw the report, she wanted to cry, but she knew she had to face matter with maturity and handle it. She also felt the case affected her reputation, so she is currently seeking legal advice and reserve the right to take legal action.

Selena made a final comment that anyone who paid for a course with TBS through Enlighten can contact her beauty school and request for a refund. When asked if Enlighten's marketing strategy brought her a lot more income? She said it's been ok, TBS can still live without them, so it's not that flourishing.

Joey Yung can't bear pressure, lets out a rain of tears

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

Joey Yung's Joey & Joey Metro Radio Concert was held last night. Joey appeared in a see-through back-revealing dress, but when she started singing she had 'hard luck' repeatedly and tagged the wrong songs. She couldn't help but 'pout': "The first time is usually like this!" Then when she performed her familiar song Sob (啜泣), she was unable to stay on key with the acoustics due to the lack of rehearsal time. Joey frowned with embarrassment, but of course as Joey progressed into the concert, her performance became smoother and smoother. She performed her classics that were re-composed with an all new arrangement, so audience can listen to something new. On stage, Joey showed off her abilities, singing as she played the guitar.

Later, Joey appeared in a sexy outfit and expressed: "Deep down in each individual's heart, there is a song that belongs to them. I am happy that among all my songs, I was able to find a song that represents me. My everlasting fantasy is Yellow Gate (黃色大門)!" When Joey began to perform Yellow Gate, she suddenly started tearing up and then a rain of tear drops came running her face.

After the show, Joey was asked why she started crying in the middle of singing that particular song? She expressed: "Actually I was performing the song while I was into my emotions. Since this song represents me, it was just an emotional moment for me! (What were you thinking about?) I have always thought of myself like a child, but in reality I am in the adult world, doing adult things, sometimes it's just so pressuring! (Asked if it's because the song triggers a 'good friend' (referring to Denise Ho) or past memories?) No no, not at all. Not what you all think." Reporters then asked her, what did she think [reporters] were thinking? She pouted: "Just not like what you all are thinking!"

When speaking of her junior Vincy Chan announcing her love relationship, Joey said she does not know about it. Does she envy Vincy? She said because she is concentrated on work, she hasn't been able to 'grow' a romance out.

Charmaine Li gets a surprised proposal, cries as she agrees to marry Ricky Fan

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

Charmaine Li and Ricky Fan will be getting married on January 15, 2012. The two have already taken their wedding photos, but Ricky hasn't officially proposed yet. The other day, he and a group of good friends including Bobby Au-Yeung and Timmy Hung teamed up and gave Charmaine a surprising proposal. Ricky suddenly got on his knees for the proposal and surprised Charmaine so much she teared up emotionally.

For their wedding, Benny Chan, Vivien Yeo, Janet Chow and Toby Leung will serve as either the groomsmen and bridesmaids. Since Ricky hadn't officially proposed to Charmaine yet, he and his friends decided to come up with a surprise proposal. That day, Bobby was eating and deliberately told Charmaine to play a guessing game. Charmaine lost the game and had to drink, but Ricky quickly interrupted: "There's so much, don't drink!" Bobby pretended to be upset and walked away and then turned to Ricky to say: "She lost and didn't drink, such bad character." Ricky said: "No need, Charmaine and I leaving." Charmaine was clueless and didn't know what to do, then Yuen Biu, who rarely knows what's going on, came in and prepared to be the 'middleman'. To avoid the act to get out of hand, Ricky took out a 1 carat diamond ring and flowers, got on his knees and proposed to Charmaine. Future bride Janet Chow was very emotional and teared up as well!

Later, Charmaine said over the phone, at the time she was stiff. Aside from feeling emotional and tearing up, she also praised how attentive Ricky was. He first told her parents to be at the scene and prepared a whole act. She said: "Never thought I'll see such a scene, really 'surprising'! No wonder people told me to put on makeup before I went and asked me if there was a video camera. (Were you pleased?) Very pleased. (The ring is a whole carat!) He even said if he earns enough money, it won't be a problem if he gives me a bigger diamond each year." Yesterday on Weibo Charmaine emotionally thanked Ricky and his group of friends for giving her such a surprising wedding proposal. She also thanked Ricky for giving her favorite champagne roses.
