Wayne Lai tells his son never to go to the Philippines

Saturday, August 28, 2010 Posted by Admin 0 comments
Famous child’s arts and crafts program Mister Maker began its Asian tour recently. Yesterday, Wayne Lai was invited to be the program’s guest for the Hong Kong region – the show will air on BBC’s children’s network. Asked how he felt about ‘debuting’ on the international scene, Wayne smiled and said he felt very happy.

Wayne expressed that he constantly works on craft projects with his son at home and feels that this is a great way to strengthen their father-son bond. His son likes to make little presents for mom and she loves to receive them. Asked if he is worried about his son drifting apart from him and his wife when he grows older, Wayne laughed and replied: “Probably won’t be that quick; in fact, just yesterday, he was listening to a ghost story and got so scared that he didn’t want to sleep all alone by himself, so he came over to sleep with us in our room -- it was quite cute. Of course, we were young once and so we definitely understand that some day, our son will want to be independent and move away, but hopefully, that will be a long ways off.”

Regarding the tragedy in the Philippines, Wayne indicated that he felt all sorts of emotions about the situation – deep pain, helplessness, sorrow, and anger. “I don’t understand why so much time was wasted and the hostages still couldn’t be saved. I saw in the newspapers today that the gunman only requested 1 million pesos, which is equal to about HKD$100,000 – that amount would have been easy to raise with contributions from just the tour group members alone – so why didn’t the Philippine government agree to the amount? If a few hundred thousand dollars could have saved the tourists, Hong Kong citizens would have most definitely paid the money without question!”

After seeing how the tragic situation in the Philippines played out, Wayne admitted that he is utterly disappointed with the country: “I told my son never to go to the Philippines, I won’t go either. The police force is supposed to be a safety net, but yet they can’t even do their basic jobs correctly – this is a reflection on the government and their inabilities when it comes to ensuring people’s safety.”

Donnie Yen to Star in Comedy with Carina Lau, Louis Koo, and Angelababy

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Media Asia’s most popular martial arts star, Donnie Yen Chi Dan, has become a mainland box office magnet. Although his filming fee has increased astronomically to $25 million (Yuan), Donnie continues to be in high demand. Recently, Raymond Wong Pak Ming convinced Donnie to star in comedy, All’s Well, Ends Well 2011 "至強囍事 2011". In All’s Well, Ends Well 2011, Donnie will portray a make-up artist and have a romantic relationship with model, Carina Lau Ka Ling. This will be the only film in his career where Donnie will not have any fighting sequences. Louis Koo will also portray a make-up artist.

The new All’s Well, Ends Well 2011 will be directed by Chan Hing Ka and released during the same time as the sequel to TVB’s 72 Tenants of Prosperity "72家租客". Since All’s Well, Ends Well 2010 "花田囍事 2010" lost box office sales to 72 Tenants of Prosperity last year, Raymond has strengthened the cast by adding Donnie Yen, Carina Lau, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Lynn Hung Dai Lam, and Angelababy in the new movie. Mainland actress, Yan Ni, will pair with Raymond Wong.

Since the success of Ip Man "葉 問", each of Donnie’s subsequent films have grossed over $100 million (Yuan) in China . Last year his filming fee was $15 million (Yuan), which has increased to $25 million (Yuan) this year. Allegedly, Raymond Wong will be paying Donnie $15 million (Yuan) for only ten days of filming for All’s Well, Ends Well 2011.

After completing Peter Chan’s Wu Xia "武俠" in Yunnan , Donnie will return to Hong Kong to film All’s Well, Ends Well 2011. In November, he is scheduled to film the $300 million project, "大鬧天宮". In a telephone interview, Donnie said, “I would like to film a comedy and test the strength of my comic skills.”

Raymond Wong said, “Earlier, my mother passed away, so I did not have time to plan the production details for All’s Well, Ends Well 2011. I decided to cast Donnie Yen because he has potential in comedies. I also know that he is interested in changing his image and film comedies. In Ip Man, he can fight against ten people at the same time. In the new film, he will play a make-up artist who can apply make-up for ten models at the same time.”

Regarding Donnie’s filming fee, Raymond said, “Let’s not discuss it, otherwise people will say I elevated the fees in the industry! Each time I produce a Lunar New Year film, I put forth a large investment because I want to produce a quality film.” Raymond also mentioned that if Sandra Ng Kwan Yu were not pregnant, he may cast her in the film too.

Cherie Ying Choi Yee and Jordan Chan Siu Chun got married earlier in February 2010 in Las Vegas , USA . The couple will be holding their Hong Kong wedding celebration in Disneyland in November.

Appearing as a guest on TVB’s Super Trio Game Master, Jordan was questioned by Eric Tsang Chi Wai as to when he will be holding a wedding banquet in Hong Kong . Jordan said, “If Cherie and I do not have an argument, we will have a celebration in November at Disneyland .”

Jordan joked at Eric and said, “How come you guys have not ‘died’ yet? Aside from Enjoy Yourself Tonight "歡樂今宵", your show has been very long-running!” Chin Ka Lok teased Jordan by referencing his alleged grudge against Sandra Ng Kwan Yu. Chin Ka Lok pointed at Jordan and said, “This veteran is impossible!”

Since Jordan hosted the first generation of the Super Trio program, Chin Ka Lok pressured Jordan to sing the theme song for the initial show. Amigo Chiu Wins Back Natalie Tong’s Heart

Posted by Admin 0 comments
After the physical assault incident between Amigo Chiu and his ex-girlfriend, Elizabete Kwong, subsided, Amigo returned to work in June. Although he is currently hosting TVB’s entertainment news program, The Scoop "東張西望", Amigo’s popularity has continued to plummet. Throughout the entire scandal, Amigo’s ex-girlfriend, Natalie Tong, continued to support him in front of the press. Allegedly, Amigo realized that he could not lose Natalie and pursued her intently once again.

Over the past several months, there were frequent rumors that the pair had reunited. In July, the paparazzi spotted Amigo giving Natalie a lift at her apartment. Afterwards, Natalie spent the night at Amigo’s home. However, the pair vehemently denied the reunification rumors. Allegedly, Amigo won Natalie’s heart by promising to cut back on his partying habits. His also traded his former Audi sports car (used to impress other women) for a more practical Mini-Cooper, giving Natalie reassurance.

Earlier, the reporter discovered Amigo shopping at a mall in his free time. He bought the Kick-Ass DVD (rated Category III for its violence). Perhaps the reformed Amigo will only resort to watching films to cure his boredom.

Joyce Tang Ends Love Triangle with Derek Kwok

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Since the broadcast of Beauty Knows No Pain "女人最痛", Joyce Tang Lai Ming gained recognition for her “ugly” character, Bibi. Her career picked up again, filling the void in her current love life. Three months ago, Joyce finally ended her three year relationship with Derek Kwok Jing Hung, who has a daughter with another woman.

Derek finally got married with his mainland girlfriend, giving his daughter legitimacy. The family recently moved to a new home. On August 17th, the family were spotted at an arcade center with their Filipino maid. Derek did not wear a face mask on that day, indicating that he was ready to acknowledge his relationship with his wife and daughter openly and become a “good man” again.

Joyce and Derek’s Dating Timeline

In 2007, Joyce announced the end of her nine-year relationship with ex-boyfriend, Marco Ngai Chun Kit. Half a year later, during the filming of War of In-Laws II <野蠻奶奶大戰戈師奶>, Joyce and Derek’s dating rumors started. The pair were teased on the set of The King of Snooker "桌球天王" for dating during work hours. Their relationship became a known secret within the entertainment industry. Tabloids also photographed Derek entering Joyce’s house in Clear Water Bay .

Joyce and Derek’s dating relationship was brought to the media’s attention in March 2008. The pair attended TVB producer, Tommy Leung Ka Shu’s elder daughter’s wedding banquet. Liza Wang Ming Chuen uploaded a group photo taken at the wedding, in which Joyce and Derek shared an intimate embrace.

In September 2009, while Derek was dating Joyce, he was also involved in a relationship with a woman in China . Tabloids revealed that Derek even had a nine month-old daughter with his mainland girlfriend. On the girl’s Chinese visa, Derek’s name was entered for the father’s information. Joyce may not have been aware of Derek’s other relationship. When confronted by the media, Joyce said, “I have always been single!”

In February 2010, Joyce and Derek attended a TVB director’s wedding together. During the group photo session, Derek turned his face away from Joyce. Deflecting the media’s attention, the pair pretended that they “broke up.”

Despite the exposure of his illegitimate daughter, Derek continued to date Joyce. In February 2010, Derek was photographed wearing a face mask and visiting Joyce’s apartment in the middle of the night.

In May 2010, Joyce and Derek may have ended their three year love relationship.

Jackie Chan makes a public apology for Twitter comment on Philippines hostage tragedy

Posted by Admin 0 comments
The day before, Jackie Chan commented on the HK tourists held hostage and killed by a gunman in the Philippines on Twitter, leaving 8 dead and 7 wounded. The comment was suspected to support the Filipino police and he extended a 'friendship hand', representing the people of Hong Kong that there is no hatred. Jackie's comment sparked public anger, saying that Jackie is not qualified to represent the HK People, even good friend Eric Tsang thought that he was really wrong this time and that he needed to provide an explanation to the citizens. Yesterday afternoon, Jackie expressed that the Twitter comment was made by his assistant from the U.S. and his actual intentions are different. He stressed that he is a 100% Hong Kong person, and is feeling sorry over the tragedy that must be investigated. Towards the misunderstanding caused through the Twitter message, he apologizes.

Angered Netizens

On Wednesday (8/25), Jackie extended a "friendship hand" to the Filipinos on Twitter, expressing that the HK people have no hatred towards the Filipino police and that even if the police first killed the gunman or negotiated with him first, there still be criticisms. Jackie's comment seems to be giving a good word to the Filipino police. The Philippines presidential spokesperson (Chan Hin Dak) expressed their appreciation to Jackie's comment. However, Jackie's comment led to public anger, denouncing that he does not represent the HK people. Some Netizens even accused him saying that its all due to his coffee shop business opened in 2006 in the Philippines , that he wants to support their government.

Yesterday afternoon, Jackie Chan made a public apology. He started off by sending his deepest sorrows to the victims' family and then explained the content on the Twitter message. The message was written on behalf of him by his assistant in the U.S, but lost its meaning through the translation. He said that Hong Kong people that were held hostage and killed in the Philippines is indeed a tragedy. He strongly stressed that he is a Chinese, 100% Hong Kong person and he does feel grief for this unfortunate event. He is deeply sympathetic to the victims' family and sends blessings to the injured, hoping they recover soon.

The real meaning

Jackie restated his true intentions: He will not hate Filipinos just because of this awful tragedy because there are still hundreds of thousands of Filipinos that are working in Hong Kong and there are too many Hong Kong people working in the Philippines. If we are to hate them just because of this one tragedy, then will cause great harm between HK and the Philippines. He feels that the tragedy is a result of improper command by the Flipino police, of course will need to investigate and should leave this matter to the professionals. Finally, towards the misunderstand caused by his incorrectly translated Twitter message, he sends his most sincere apologies to everyone.

Eric Tsang explains on behalf of Jackie Chan: It wasn't him who wrote

Posted by eujean lee 1 comments

Yesterday Jackie Chan's remarks on Twitter has been interpreted as "supporting the Philippine's police", inviting many comments expressing their unsatisfactory towards the message. Yesterday Eric Tsang attended the mourning ceremony, he expressed, "I did see the remarks, the words didn't seem like they were from him, it's someone by his side wrote it, his English is not that good, maybe he's not in Hong Kong, he didn't watch the live telecast, that's why he didn't feel it too much, he doesn't understand our feelings. He cannot represent the feelings of Hong Kong people, he did not handle it well, he should explain to the public, he's wrong everytime, this time his mistake is even worse, everytime he doesn't convey his message well."

PakHo Chau also expressed that he saw Jackie Chan's remarks, "The meaning of the contents were deep, I don't really understand, that's why I won't make any comments, this is a personal opinion, I believe he had good intentions."

Patricia Ha attended a fashion event yesterday and responded to Jackie's remarks, she said, "Maybe he's doing something to get people's attention, nothing to comment. This time Philippine's way of handling the matter, we can describe it as stupid, really retard. I don't understand how their President can still be smiling?"

Prince Fung collaborates with 10 years old mental disable Ah Sheh

Posted by eujean lee 0 comments

Almost every Siu Sang that has collaborated with Charmaine Sheh has got rumours with her, but she seemed to have no fate with Raymond Lam. The both of them would collaborate again in their new series and Raymond Lam hoped that the rumours would help to prove his charm. Ah Sheh said that she doesn't dare to dislike Raymond.

Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam, and Toby Leung attended the praying ceremony for Colorful Life of Sister Fa yesterday. In the series, Ah Sheh plays the role of a 10 years old mental disabled person. She had to cut her hair short and looked like she was mentally disabled. She also went to the school for mental disabled kids to interact with the children to learn more. In every series that Ah Sheh films, there would be rumours with the actor, however in her previous collaboration with Raymond Lam in Drive of Life, there was no rumours about them. Raymond joked and said, " Before this I collaborated with her, but she was rumoured with someone else, I really need to examine myself again, maybe I'm not charming enough, there should be rumours in this series la!" Ah Sheh explained that it was the media's problem that she and Raymond did not have rumours, "It's good that there wasn't any rumours!" (Are you afraid that there will be rumours saying you dislike Raymond?) "Why would I dislike Prince Fung? We have collaborated a lot and knew each other for a long time, most important is we collaborated well."

There was hope for Raymond Lam to get the TV King award, but unfortunately his new series ( Growing Through Life) did not receive good ratings, he expressed that he was abit disappointed, " Disappointed of course, I took 5 months to film this series, I also had to prepare for concert, it was quite tough filming it, I feel there's unfamiliar Mainland artists, Mainland also broadcasted the series earlier than us so it affects the ratings as well." ( Affecting you in competing for TV King?) "Don't start this too fast la! Don't start this on me again. Every year I don't know what should I say, I really want to concentrate on my own work." (Feel pressured?) "Concentrate too much on TV King I'm afraid you all would be bored."

Besides this, although Can't Buy Me love received good ratings, Ah Sheh said that because of the Manila's incident, everyone was not in the mood to celebrate, and Phillipine's mourning cannot compensate anything! She hopes that Can't Buy me Love would bring joy and comfort to audiences.

Sandra Ng took the lead and expressed that they were in grief : "There's nothing worth to celebrate. In the first place the whole incident can be avoided, but now there's no use to say much, only hoping that Hong Kong and Phillipine's government would do their job." Sandra said that the previous night she was at home watching the news coverage of the Manila bus hijack live on TV, "They are like my family members. I will not go to the place for the time being." Vivian expressed that she was praying all night for the victims, hope they'll rest in peace.

Initially William Chan has prepared a set of red suit, but after he learnt about the tragedy he quickly asked to change for a new suit, "Now I'm looking if there's any related charity funds, I want to donate some money to the family of the victims." Besides this, the crews and cast planned to change the dates for the premiere night, but because they have blocked the dates for the actors and actresses earlier and also booked the venue, it's very hard to make sudden changes, therefore it has to be carried on. Fung Bo Bo and Deanie Yip Dak Han also attended the event.

(Miriam Yeung's moment of slience)

8 Hong Kong tourist were killed in the Philippines from a hijacked tour bus. Hong Kong, Taiwan and China artists all express their pain for the lost innocent lives. Some artists canceled promotions, events and held a moment of silence in respect.

Shawn Yue couldn't sleep because of the tragedy. He saw the news at 6 am in the morning and felt very angered of the Police's confusion in their operation. The bus door needs to be "pushed" and not "pulled."

Miriam Yeung felt shocked and grief over the incident. When she found out, her company decided to hold a moment of silence before the press conference and all artists are to wear black to mourn for the lost lives. Miriam felt fustrated and sad, she did not understand why the gunman was so heartless to kill the innocent. She hopes the victims' family can stay strong. The people of Hong Kong will support them, it necessary, she can give a helping hand. Life is short, cherish your loved ones.

Sammi Cheng: "Can't sleep! A real tragedy swallowing us. Swallowing up all Hong Kong citizens! Praying for the injured and the hospitals working hard to save lives! Sending out the most positive strength! Keep going! Keep going! Keep going!"

Charlene Choi: "Last night, I did not sleep well...kept tossing and turning. At 3am, I forced myself to sleep... 5 minutes later I woke up again... after seeing the news, I just felt so much pain for those who lost their lives innocently and the injured. As an outsider, I feel pain.. I believe the witnesses are 100 million more times in pain... really hope the nightmare can disappear soon for them... As for us, we have to really cherish our own lives!"

Edmond Leung: "I really haven't let down a tear for many years, but today I woke up and read the paper like usual and I really couldn't hold it in."

Steven Ma: "I just watched many news clips. Grief? Not even! Is disgusted! I am disgusted because of just 1 person's fault causes everyone to be buried with him! Everyone buried? Where is the source? Who is responsible? Nonesense, really nonesense! How to handle such terrifying situation, know how? Don't know how? Then please don't act recklessly! Why must take others' valuable lives to prove your incompetence? Even if the victims are gone! I will still ask my country to help us get our justice back! Of course, I don't hope that a tragedy become a racial confrontation, but an explanation? Absolutely cannot avoid it!

Joey Yung attended Metro Radio for recording, but canceled the media interview that was suppose to occur after. The media contacted Joey by phone and she admitted the incident has cause a big impact to her: "Today I don't want to do interviews or promotions. I feel it's a little weird, I'm not in a very good mood. So pitiful! Feel so much grief for them, hard to believe they were tortured in the nus for 11 hours, it is really painful! Because the gunman wanted to prove his innocence and just sacrificed so many innocent lives like that. Not only was he unable to help himself clear the charges, now that he's caused so many other deaths, it is bigger crime! I send my deepest condolence to the victims' families. I hope they will recover soon, the incident is the past, the people of Hong Kong will support them."

Alex To blasts at Philippiness Police inability to rescue HK tourists

( Right: Alex To)

Yesterday a Hong Thai Travel Agency tour bus going to Manila, Philippines was hijacked by a former police officer, he held the tourists in hostage. Eight Hong Kong tourists were killed from the hijack, the incident shocked the entire city! Alex To and Jessica C. who are both of Philippine descent expressed their grief and felt the incident were terrifying.

Alex To's father is a Hispanic-Filipino mix, he just returned to HK from Taiwan yesterday. Alex expressed that this whole family were at home watching the incident happen live on TV. He said: "I heard there were hostages that died, really hard to believe. I will pray for them. (There were some hostages rescued?) Lucky that there were survivors, the earler reports said that all the hostages dies, really terrifying. This kind of things cannot be said so randomly. The hostages' family members who see the report really can get frightened to death. If I were them, I would definitely have fainted."

Speaking of the slow rescue by the Philippines police, Alex could not help but blast at them: "The police should have worked faster in the rescue. They were too slow in the operation, too afraid and no planning. How can they use a rope to pull the door down? It's a whole team of police officers against one person, it's a pity that those hostages were killed, there wasn't even a helicopter. They should have use two big lights blasting into the tour bus, how can they just throw a few glow sticks and go in like that? Useless! My father seeing the Philippines police being so inefficient is very disappointed!"

Also, although Raymond Lam has to film TVB new series Colourful World of Sister Fa, he still paid attention to the incident. He reveals that he currently has relatives living in the Philippines and felt the incident was shocking: "When I have time I will call my relatives and ask about the current situation.
