Female artists upset at new term "remaining women" describes the single middled-aged

Saturday, August 07, 2010 Posted by Admin 0 comments
Lately, Mainland Netizens fried up the term "the remaining women" (剩女), describing women who have passed marriageable age and are a success in their careers, but are still single. Plus recently the government announced that there are more women than men in Hong Kong now, particularly more middle-aged women. "The Remaining Women" is also seen as a derogatory term. Have once been classified before, Miriam Yeung got married last year and separated from that group, but she still felt grief for her 'sisters' being labeled as 'surplus women'. She voiced out her feelings on Weibo and got thousands of retweets and 400+ replies. This stirred up heated feedback by Netizens.

Not fair to middle-aged women

Even 1989 Miss Hong Kong winner Monica Chan expressed her support on Weibo. Yesterday she accepted an interview and strongly stressed that Miriam Yeung was not being emotional: "I saw the two words 'remaining women' on the news and felt that I have to voice out my opinion. This term is strange, not fair to women, why are they only talking about women and not men?" Monica stressed: "If I wanted to get married, I would just do it for love, not the age!"

Just turned 30 years old, the single Joey Yung felt that age is not the focus, a splendid life is what's important. She said: "Why do they have to talk bad about us? Female experiences can make others have more charm, the word 'remaining' sounds pretty unpleasant. Don't label such valuable girls, no love does not mean we have nothing. Treasures are found underground, maybe the best one is me! More importantly is to love yourself and to live life the fullest. I will not let other people affect my mood."

As for Taiwan's pretty girl Da S was seen as a strange person by her friends and stopped introducing guys to her, she was accused to be the greatest 'remaining women': "That is highly impolite, saying 'the remaining women' is just like saying that the remaining women are 'scums' and means that women are useless in the human race, the reasoning is the same!"

Gigi sings her feelings out

As Gigi Leung who has recently announced she's single again, invited lyricist (Chow Bok Yin) to tailor a new song "Daughter Hero 女兒雄", the lyrics really describes the voices of 'the remaining women'.

Male group complains Mr. HK discriminates men, TVB may get protesters

Posted by Admin 0 comments

(Christine Ng boosts the atmosphere in previous Mr. HK shows taking out an oxygen mask)

TVB "Mr. Hong Kong 2010" is coming around the corner. Yesterday a group of Hong Kong men from the Love Parents & Family Association and the Equal Justice Society filed complaints. The group of men said that during the swimwear part of the show, the female judges can touch hands and feet and the fact that it's all-women judges, it is discriminating against men. The Broadcast Authority (BA) received 86 complaints since 2007, but the complaints are handled by the editorial from the organization independently, the BA cannot regulate it. So the complaints have to be passed on to TVB and the responsible organization to handle.

"Don't Always Protest this and that"

Highly popular 'leng mo' (pseudo model) in both the Book Fair and Animation Festival Chrissie Chau was invited as this year's MC for Mr. HK. However because she had jobs on hand and declined the offer, Mr. HK loses another selling point. Although the cooperation did not work out, she expressed her support for TVB: "I really wanted to be the MC for the night, but I have to film a movie. The film production company won't let me take the time off, so I had to decline the offer, such a pity! But, I will try my best to be one of the guest, wearing my contacts to aim at the boys. (What do you think of an association protesting the show?) Hong Kong is getting more and more advisory groups, don't always protest this and that. In this world, if it's not guys aiming at girls, then it's girls aiming at guys. If it's girls aiming at girls, then there won't be complaints?"

Koni Lui who is one of the MCs for Mr. Hong Kong said: "All-women judges is not discrimination! This is conventional, both husband and wife goes, the wife definitely won't let go of watching it!" Carol Cheng said: "This is TVB's decision, I personally do not have any comment."

TVB will try to listen to opinions

TVB Foreign Affairs Director (Tsang Sing Ming) responded to the protests, he said: "The show tries to boost the atmosphere, TVB did not discriminate males. This year's Mr. Hong Kong will be broadcast live at the movie theatres and Olympian City. Both men and women can cast votes, it's a balanced fan community voice. If there are protests, TVB will try their best to listen to the opinions. TVB will tell the female guests to try not to have too much body contact with the men and be cautious with their words. The majority of the female guests are artists themselves, they will be into the performance and get a little intense." Mr. HK producer (Wai Sai Fai) expressed that he's not worried about protesters messing up the show, he has confidence for the TVB security.

Elle Lee needs to improve Cantonese before entering industry

Posted by Admin 0 comments
The Miss Hong Kong finalists who lost out for the crown were invited back to TVB City for a screen test. Elle Lee who was the hot favourite before the competition wore a strapless dress. She was one of the girls that dressed most sexy among the group. Elle stated that she is considering to enter the entertainment industry. She would most like to host shows and film dramas. She said "I will need to find someone to teach me Cantonese". (You can ask your boyfriend to teach you) "No, do you have any good recommendations?" (CNN have said that Miss Hong Kong's are Pork Chop?) "That's a big matter. I can't believe CNN have interest in the pageant". Phobe Pang wore a long sleeved jacket and refused to take it off. She stated that she felt relieved after the show had finished, yet immediately caught a cold and had a breakout of pimples. The reporter asked her whether she is interested in entering the industry? She replied "If I pass the screen test then I will decide. I still have a year and a half until I graduate my degree in England. I would still like to complete it". (Can't you continue the course after you have entered the industry?) "I will find it more awkward that way if I went out to socialise".

New Miss HK Winners Deny They're Porkchops

Posted by Admin 0 comments
CNNgo published an article recently, calling this year's Miss Hong Kong pageant a "porkchop pageant" (link here). Yesterday the three new Miss Hong Kong winners attended to a charity dinner party and they denied they're "porkchops." Winner Toby Chan replied: "They are not purposely exaggerating this thing right? Should be saying this year's winners are out already. I won't be upset because of it. They only posted our winning pictures? That's not fair to us. Maybe it's an angle problem. Anyways there are some pictures that look better."

Second runner-up, the one who is said to be the ugliest, Lisa Ch'ng replied: "Doesn't matter. Hope after this report is out, more people would want to see us in real person. When they see us in real people, they won't think we are porkchops." Asked whether they think they are porkchops, Lisa said: "No. I won't introduce myself as pork chop." Toby said: "I won't give myself this title." As for first runner-up Sammi Cheung, she said: "I wouldn't want others to call us by this name, just want to use our real names." Talked about responses from residents when they are on the streets, Lisa said: "Some said it's all good if I fix my hair, okay in real life! They also said they want to redress my hairsyle!" Toby said: "They would praise us pretty when they meet us in real life."

As for whether they would stop eating porkchop? The three said no and Lisa said: "This title appears in many years previously!" 2005 Miss HK winner Tracey Yip supported them: "Hope everyone look at them with an admiring heart. I'm not surprised to hear this incident. They are very pretty girls."

TVB & CASH royalty issues, JSG Awards may stop at any time

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

TVB and HKRIA (universal, Warner, Sony, EMI) have been in a royalty dispute since last December. HKRIA increased the royalty fee from the initial 5 million, TVB felt that this was not reasonable and refused to pay the large fee.

The chairman of the 4 record companies (Cheng Man Chiu) admitted that there has not been any progress, the issue has already entered the legal state, let the lawyers from both sides handle the issue. When asked if they will make a concession? He said: "Ah, making a concession does not mean we have come to an agreement. Right now TVB still has many series and shows using the Big 4 record companies music. (TVB is breaking the law and doesn't know?) I don't dare to say that, just feel that it's strange, don't know how to calculate it. We have to see what the court says, see if it's reasonable."

Joey Yung, Leo Ku affected too

The royalty issue has been quite troublesome for TVB. Although TVB produced their own music program (The Voice) abd having to push their own artists to become singers, unfortunately the success is only average. As for the Big 4 singers, because they get less exposure their popularity is going down. Both sides are suffering. It was understood that TVB recently encountered another dilemma. More than a year ago, TVB has already started discussing royalties with CASH, but up until today they're still deadlocked. Although CASH only require the royalties to be 10-20%, this still amounts to millions of dollars. TVB chairman "6th aunt" Mona Fong felt that the price is not reasonable and requested that CASH reduce the fees, causing the two companies to not come to a contract agreement. An insider said that the situation is not going well, this greatly involves TVB because most of Hong Kong's music composers and lyricists are CASH employees. Once the relationship between the two companies are broken, TVB's flagship music program (JSG) or even the (JSG Top Ten Music Awards) may get cut at any time. If that happens, besides the Big 4 singers being cut off including Eason Chan, "god-son" Hacken Lee and Kay Tse, even Joey Ying, Leo Ku, "biological son" Raymond Lam will suffer. Once the 4 station music awards gets affected by the royalty issue, it will officially canceled.

TVB General Manager (Lee Bo On) said: "The royalty issues have already been sent to the Copyright Royalty Tribunal. We don't guarantee we will use other ways to solve this. (The CASH Lyrics Writing Competition) will continue to happen at the end of thr year?) Will still happen, there was never anything between us. (What about JSG Selections?) No plans of not doing it!"

CASH representative (Elton) reveals: "This issue involves the whole world, composers, lyricists and the benefits to 170 million people. (Need to have results this year?) Yes, TVB should respect the composers and lyricists. As for our relationship, we have collaborated well in the last 10+ years. (Rumored that the discussions aren't going well!) If the discussions are successful, it is not convenient for me to say it! We will still continue, nothing to hold us back." Since this issue involves composers and lyricists to every son, if TVB don't agree to the royalties with CASH, does that mean TVB can't use the majority of the song's? Elton frankly said: "You can say that. To TVB it is a really big impact, but cannot just look at it that way because this also involves many other musicians." Does TVB have to pay very high royalty fees? Elton said: "Can't say that it's very high, it is reasonable because every song they use is public broadcast." Ask if the (CASH Lyrics Writing Competition) in December, will that be affected? Elton said because this year they are working on another project, so the competition will happen.

Sherman Chung and EEG artists produces EEG's first gospel album

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

There are many artists in the industry devout to a religion. Just entered the embrace of God, Sammi Cheng successfully spread gospel pop music. EEG singers who are Christians including Yumiko Cheng, Wong Cho Lam, Sherman Chung, Steven Chung and Don Li recently released EEG's first gospel album. Responsible for producing the album, Sherman Chung, also produced her solo and photo album and is aware of God's footsteps.

EEG's first gospel album (Love For Real) uses gospel music to spread the love. This time Sherman has participated in much of the production. Besides singing two of the songs, she also have a duet with Wong Cho Lam and there are two songs composed by her. At the same time, she has to balance the time of releasing her own solo and photo album. As for if she's able to complete so many jobs at once, she felt that it is God's footsteps.

Part of the gospel album has surging rhythms, the whole album includes 11 new songs. One of the tracks is in the form of rap, MC Jin and Kay Ho are responsible for that. Unlike ordinary gospel songs, they hope that this album can change the general public's feeling towards gossip music.

Yumiko Cheng is the lead singer for (New Sky New Land). Because the short time since she converted to a Christian, so it was hard for her to grasp the feelings needed to sing a gospel song. So Sherman and Wong Cho Lam especially does the composing and lyrics of her song. They also invited MC Jin to do the rap, eventually they were able to complete the job. Yumiko is also very grateful for the out of ordinary gospel song.

Joey Yung says no feel, Ah Sa praises No. 1!

Posted by eujean lee 0 comments

Raymond Lam's new released album had very good response. He also filmed kissing scenes with both seniors, Joey Yung and Charlene Choi (Ah Sa). Joey Yung expressed that there was not enough feel, however Ah Sa sweetly said, "It was so good! Really No.1!"

Raymond Lam, Joey Yung, Ah Sa and Wong Cho Lam's new EEG series, (Emerald Pearl) revolved around 4-angled-love. Joey Yung and Ah Sa both had kissing scenes with Raymond Lam in the film. Ah Sa who has a lot of experience in kissing scenes was asked if Raymond was nice to kiss? Her expression showed she enjoyed and said, "It was so good! Really No.1, I have never had such a good one!" On the contrary, Joey said that she only had a very mild one, no wonder she was disappointed saying, "I couldn't feel if it was nice to kiss, because there was too little to feel, the funniest thing was I had to be still, cannot close my mouth when I kissed, so afraid that my saliva would leak on him, next time I'd better kiss Cho Lam." (The height is not compatible!) "Then I'll carry him la! Haha!"

Regarding the news about EEG's executive Ng Yu saying that (Emerald Pearl) might stand a chance to be nominated in the film awards next year, the three of them were asked if they have confidence? Didn't expect that Raymond Lam would forget that he once acted in (Bie Lian) 9 years ago and said that he's new in the film industry. Ah Sa and Joey who laughed aloud said, "Now what, film industry's "evergreen"!" Ah Sa shook her head and said, "I really can't help you." Raymond who knew that he said the wrong thing could only laugh to conceal.

Joey Yung who last acted in Crazy n' The City 6 years ago expressed she hoped that this chance would allow everyone start to know her in the film industry again, "I haven't been filming for a long time, that was why when I filmed I was so nervous and scared, afraid that I'll bring trouble to the team, thankfully after filming I saw the results were quite good, and there was also Movie Queen Ah Sa to teach me!"

Ah Sa also expressed that she and Cho Lam have known each other for years. This time they had a chance to collaborate in the film, moreover there were Raymond Lam and Cho Lam, and few other young people which made filming much more fun. They were asked if they have confidence on ticket sales? Joey Yung joked by saying, "I'm afraid it'll be better than Toy Story 3! I've set a high target, but the film will also be aired in Mainland, so I'm quite confident too."

MHK Toby Chan admits resembling like Yu Mo; Neitzens criticize looks like HK Porkchop

Thursday, August 05, 2010 Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

This year's Miss Hong Kong winners Toby Chan, Sammi Cheng, Lisa Chong and Miss Photogenic Crystal Li accepted their awards at the travel agency. After the rumors of Toby and the travel agency's young master (Jason), he still helped her film clips. As to the MHK results accused of being a cheat, Toby said: "Jason is not my rumored boyfriend, I believe the judges has justice. (He's especially good to you?) Don't feel it. (Feel awkward seeing him?) No, not anything, no need to avoid." She frankly said that her boyfriend currently in Mainland was questioned by friends, she said: "He told me it's really funny, but we have 100% mutual support. We both know what we are thinking. (Does he feel proud for you?) He is of course happy for me, his family is even happier than him."

As for Jason who seem to purposely avoid Toby during the group picture, he was asked if he minds the rumors. He said: "I don't mind, it's just a rumor. She deserves her winning title. (She has a boyfriend, are you disappointed?) Many are disappointed, but I am not."

Neitzens said that Toby Chan looking like Yu Mo and the Hong Kong pork chop. Towards this she said: "I have noticed the comments, there are good and bad criticisms online, but I will not be unhappy because of these things. I will face them in a positive manner and improve. Perhaps in some angles, my mouth looks like hers. This is not a problem, it's not negative news, the description is interesting, my family thought it was funny too.

Sammi Cheng: I have thought about reconcile with Andy Hui

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

Yesterday afternoon, Sammi Cheng posted a thousand character article entitled (Among The One Small Piece Of The Sky) on both Weibo and Facebook, revealing her and Andy Hui's linked in countless ways 20 year relationship. Carrying the "third party" offense, Sammi seriously stressed: "Again, from the beginning to end, we have never gotten back together. Broke up almost a decade ago, in these several thousand days, if you ask me deep down have I ever thought about getting back together with Andy, I will honestly answer 'I have'. I confess that I have thought about it, but did it eventually happen? No, never, never did it happen. About Andy's break up with his girlfriend, under the media's pen Sammi Cheng is duty bound, never have we developed into the reconcile stage, I'm suffocating."

After break-up, Sammi and Andy remained as loyal friends, like a guardian: "Does this have love? Of course, I met this person when I was 16, in unseen words we have become a guardian mutually. Love turned into friendship, I treasure it."

About the public accusing them of getting back together with an old lover, Sammi frankly said that is not a simple matter: "We have broken up so many years ago, we have many of our own experiences thereafter, as time goes, we changed a lot. Andy and I are not the same as we were 20 years ago. To be together again, it is not based on the past memories that will make it happen.. in the last decade, I have bumped into Andy at most 10 times, actually a lot of my habits, preferences or even ideals have changed. I guess what I like now and what he hates now, we have to learn again."

As for Andy and his girlfriend Michelle Yu's break up, as an ex-girlfriend Sammi said: "I am not qualified to comment on anything. For this issue, I cannot avoid being directed at by the public, you ask me, is that hard to bear for me? Of course, but I put myself in a different role, play an outsider? I know I can't I can only let the issue slowly become the past."

It was inevitable for Sammi to mention Michelle in her article, she also complimented her: "(We) met once....I do not know her well, but my first impression says that she is a cheerful and lively person. As my 10+ year relationship with Andy made a deep impression on many audience' hearts, Michelle and Andy's relationship has me in their shadows. If I am her, it would also be difficult for me."

Sammi cited the song (Don't Disturb Love): "There are some relationships, I honestly cannot disturb, don't dare to disturb. Even if living alone, I occasionally feel lonely and have long been adapted to being lonely. I also won't randomly step into some unknown situations just because I'm lonely." With her music queen status, Sammi pleaded: "Is it possible? Possible to temporarily let me go, let go of Andy, let go of Michelle?"

To end, Sammi noted: "P.S God, please don't make me wait too long, is that possible?"

Regarding Sammi's thousand character article, Andy accepted a telephone interview and said: "From friends I heard about the contents of Sammi's article, I know that is what she wants to express. Sammi feels that she has to let it out, she wrote it really well. The Sammi I know, those words are from her heart. Getting accused by the magazines is already unhappy enough, other things I will not respond."

Joyce Cheng and Jennifer Tse doing a photo shoot for Levi's Jeans. Joyce invited Jennifer out for a meal before going to the photo shoot, but Jennifer wanted to be in the best status for the photo shoot so she declined the invitation. The day before, Jennifer only ate a little to keep the best figure. Recently busy losing weight, Joyce has to learn from her senior sister.

Joyce and Jennifer appeared in different styles for Levi's Curve ID advertisement photo shoot. There were also 4 other female artists Hilary Tsui, Kary Ng, Bernice Liu and Denise Ho with them. Raymond Lam gives Ah Sa 'open sound' sweet tea to make her loved

Posted by lucychoi559 0 comments

Yesterday, music pop queen Joey Yung, Charlene Choi (Ah Sa), Raymond Lam, Wong Cho Lam and Miriam Yeung were recording for (JSG). Earlier Ah Sa was in Mainland shooting and because the local area has a lot of mosquitoes, the bug repellent caused a reaction to her windpipe, she expressed: "Today I was suppose to sing two songs, but now I'm only singing the duet with Raymond. He gave me some 'open sound' tea to help my voice back! (Raymond's tea is really expensive, HK$5,000 for one?) I don't think so, he only said that his singing teacher recommended it to him. (How will you repay him?) I'll tell my mom to make a 5,000 dollar soup for him! But his tea is different from the one I drank before, it's sweet."

More compatible than Linda Chung

Asked if she would consider the single Raymond? Ah Sa embarrassingly expressed that she doesn't match him because he's just too good, she has a lot of bad traits, like she's often getting sick.

As for Raymond, when reports told him that Ah Sa said she doesn't match him, he said: "Don't play! (Another rumor, so it's not always rumored with Linda?) Pretty good, Ah Sa and I have quite compatible personalities, good to chat with, more compatible than Linda. I always see Ah Sa around the company, she and Joey are so funny! (Who would you choose) Ask my mom first!"

Carry Cho Lam to kiss

In the movie, Raymond, Ah Sa, Joey and Cho Lam are involved in a square of love. Both girls have kiss scenes with Raymond, when Ah Sa was asked if Raymond was good to kiss, she said: "Awesome, he's number 1, never experienced that good of a kiss."

Joey, on the other hand, only had a light kiss with Raymond, no wonder she frowned: "I couldn't even feel if he was good to kiss because it's such a small one. The funniest is we had to stand there, can't really put the lips together, I was so afraid I'll splash my saliva on him. Next time better just get Cho Lam. (The height difference?) Then I'll just carry him! Haha!"

Bernice Liu kiss Kevin Cheng, feels like fruit basket

Posted by eujean lee 0 comments

Bernice Liu and Kevin Cheng were filming a kissing scene for their new series (The Residential Army) yesterday. The scene talks about Kevin Cheng kissing Bernice Liu while confessing his love for her.

This is the first time the both of them kiss in the series. Because of some angle problems, Bernice had to kiss for 4 times, but she said she was not shy at all, "I don't know about him." (Is there any "feel"?) "I treat him like a senior, haha! He is so much older than me, I don't know what kind of girls he likes." (Is it nice to kiss?) "Okay ah! But there's only one kissing scene in the entire series, not as much as Kenneth Ma and I in the previous series."

Before they started kissing, Bernice Liu brought a lemon flavoured gum for Kevin Cheng, but didn't expect that Kevin Cheng already brought his own strawberry flavoured gum, "In the end when we kissed the two flavours mixed together, like a fruit basket."

Raymond Lam, Charlene Choi, Joey Yung and Wong Cho Lam attended the premiere for their new movie (The Emerald and the Pearl) and had great confidence for the box office sales because there are a lot of seniors in the movie. When they were dancing, Christine, whose Cantonese is less fluent expressed that she didn't expect that the young people there loved traditional music, later she said the English word, "high" in a different tone which sounded like a vulgar word, she said, "Earlier, the atmosphere here was very X (high)."

They laughed at her saying that, " can't believe she uses vulgar words". In the program, Christine Kuo said again, " Seeing the people so X (high), I'm also very happy." However, Christine has yet to respond to this.

When giving out gifts to attract more viewers, Christine Kuo expressed that it is her first time doing such promotions, she said, "I believe the crews would protect us, this time is my first time filming movie, acting as a foolish princess, it's very different from me in reality, I tried learning from Carlo Ng and Chapman To. (No improvement in Cantonese?) " There's two teachers teaching, hope to get some luck."

Bosco Wong attended to Ani-com's beyblade event yesterday. He said: "Many friends thought I'm good at beyblading. Actually I don't know too much. There are many kids wrote to me, saying they want to challenge me. When I was little, I was very into mini 4WD, like crazy. Besides buying it with my red enevelope money. I also acted like a spoiled child and asked my dad to buy them for me." He said if he has a daughter in the future, he definitely can't overcome her whining and would listen to her. Then that means he would be conquered by women? He said if they're girls around his age, then he might not listen to them. He said: "I like candid girls. (Whether Myolie Wu is his type?) She is a candid girl. I dislike vexatious women the most."
