Fala Chen had cried over false and negative news before

Saturday, March 20, 2010 Posted by Admin 0 comments
Yesterday Fala Chen accepted Eileen Cha's radio interview and revealed that she cried over untrue news reports before: "My manager told me not to worry too much about them. (Which news?) I had the most rumors in 2007-2008, saying that I had bad attitude, personality is even worst than a villain. I was suffering from great pressure that time!" As to the verbal battle with Marie Zhuge? Fala said: "The situation has died down! We should not think its true. (Troubled?) Whatever I say would become a verbal war, I'm going to keep the habit of not responding."

As for Marie Zhuge who exposed that Fala is already married to Neway young master (Sit Sai Hang), asked if she planned for marriage? She said: "I thought about it... when I was young. (Boyfriend proposed yet?) No, I hope to have mutual agreement because it is for a lifetime!" Also, she frankly said that her longest good friends in the industry are Tavia Yeung and Steven Ma.

Anita Yuen and Chilam Cheung a bickering pair in public

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Yesterday Chilam Cheung and his wife Anita Yuen attended the "FOREVERMARK Genuine Touch and Passion" press conference at Peninsula Hotel. It is the first time they collaborated as a husband and wife team for work. Anita said that advertisers have always approached them for jobs, however some products are kind of weird, like toothpaste and they don't want to deliberately sell their 'married couple' status, therefore they rejected them. This time, they agreed to do the advertisement because of the good price and because they like the concept of the advertisement. Is it because her relationship with Chilam is very strong? She said: "I also hope so, but when it comes to relationships, it's hard to say."

Anita and Chilam were on stage constantly bickering, attracting laughter among the audience. Anita said that the set of photos for the advertisement have many memorable memories, Chilam continued: "Yes, never appeared so lovely dovey in front of so many people. We usually bicker with mutual hatred. Pairing us up this time, really is infinite morality." Anita said: "It's been a long time since we've been so loving and warm, I really want to hang up these photos at home, but I'm afraid he won't allow it." Chilam said: "I want to too, she misunderstood me, usually we don't have much to talk about, she doesn't know my intentions."

Asked if the would work together again in the future? Chilam said: "I am a cash cow. I have to make money in the future, so she doesn't have to work." Anita said: "Exactly." Afterwards, Anita said that she doesn't mind if Chilam refutes her at home or in public, she felt that it's rare that someone speaks the truth to her. She also reveals that Chilam often gives her diamonds, approximately 10 pieces already, the most is 2 karats. She said: "He doesn't like too exaggerated, he said that buying such big diamonds, why not buy a car or a house?"

TVB in crisis, ATV artists send cynical remarks to them

Posted by Admin 0 comments
ATV invited Korean artists Lee Pil-mo and Son Hyeon-Joo who stars in Korean drama "My Too Perfect Sons" which ATV brought the right to broadcast. Yesterday the two cast members came to Hong Kong for the drama promotion, accompanied by several ATV female artists including Manecy Chen, Eunis Yao, Karie Cheung and Lam Tsz Kwan. They played games and demonstrated roast pork cutting live at the scene.

Stephen Chan's smiles are so fake

Dress in a low cut outfit Lam Tsz Kwan expressed that the outfit was provided to her by ATV. She only found out about having to cut roast pork when she arrived at the event. Towards Stephen Chan's press conference in response to the recent reports, Lam Tsz Kwan said: "I don't know how to comment, I just saw that the press conference was a bit boring. Although it was really short, there is not much meaning in speaking up now. Stephen was acting, his smiles were very fake, especially when he was talking about shaving, it was not necessary for him to say that." About the giving expensive handbags to executives rumors, Lam Tsz Kwan expressed that the materials she owns is in exchange of her hard efforts in work. She never gave handbags to executives before.

Regarding Stephen Chan's press conference, Manecy expressed: "At this point in time, only nonsense will be spoken, nothing about the case will be discussed." As for the giving expensive handbag gifts to executives, she said that this type of thing happens in many other companies, however she strongly stressed that she has not heard of anything like that happening in ATV, she said: "I have friends in TVB, many people have to do that to get more jobs, but we ATV are very exciting. I've been with ATV for two years and already switched managers three times, but never had so much negative news." Eunis expressed that she read a little of Stephen Chan's news, she said: "I heard about the expensive handbag gifts, fortunately there is no such thing at ATV. ATV have executives too, but there is no need to do that, not even treating executives out for dinner."

Analysis of TVB’s ‘Parties’ and ‘Cliques’: Real-life "Beyond the Realm of Conscience"? -- Part 2 (FINAL)

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Part 2: Competition

Tsang Party vs Leung Party: Won’t Concede to Each Other

Between Catherine Tsang and Tommy Leung, all this time, they refuse to concede to each other. Back in the days, at the height of the “Tsang/Leung Competition”, Catherine forced out Tommy’s wife Siu Siu Ming, which solidified his desire to stand in opposition to Catherine. Subsequently, Siu Siu Ming’s “favorite” – Louis Koo – also left TVB. Not too long after, Catherine also forced out ‘golden’ producer Gary Tang Duk Hei, which resulted in the demise of popular series such as "Healing Hands". In this particular battle, the Leung Party was defeated.

Every year’s anniversary gala is the event where the ‘competition’ between all the Parties is the most intense – for years, the Tsang and Leung Parties have battled each other for the awards.

In 2001, the TV King award went to Leung’s party [Louis Koo], however the TV Queen award could not be fairly settled between the parties, so it eventually went to Liza Wang.

In 2002, the Tsang Party sacrificed Ada Choi in order to guarantee that Charmaine Sheh would get into Top 5, so the Leung Party had no choice but to sacrifice Jessica Hsuan, however the results were opposite of what was expected [Flora Chan became TV Queen].

In 2003, with the hit series "Square Pegs" favored to ‘bag’ the major awards, which would mean a victory for the Leung Party, Catherine Tsang sacrificed Charmaine Sheh and Ada Choi in favor of Maggie Cheung to win the TV Queen award – not only that, but Gigi Lai and Kenix Kwok also became “fish in the pond.”

In 2004, with the overwhelming popularity of the series "War and Beauty", it was pretty much a guarantee that the Tsang Party would ‘bag’ all the awards this time, however the audiences would not vote for Charmaine Sheh, causing Sheren Tang and Gigi Lai to be the top 2 contenders for TV Queen. As for Ada Choi, she didn’t even get into the Top 5, so she obviously became the sacrifice that year.

In 2006, the Leung Party’s "Drive of Life" was poorly received and miserably defeated – in addition, Tommy’s actions of promoting his daughter Toby Leung harmed his years-accumulated image of being fair and just. Another defeat for the Leung Party.

In 2009, the Tsang Party’s "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" also defeated the Leung Party’s "Born Rich".

Lok Party vs Tsang Party: Mutually Restricting

Catherine Tsang is known for reacting swiftly and decisively, therefore, she has made countless enemies throughout the years. In 2003, Virginia Lok “took flight” at TVB, becoming the ‘artists manager’, which undoubtedly put some of the Tsang Party artists in an awkward position; Catherine’s “god-son” Steven Ma was one of those affected and ended up having to ‘reduce his workload’. However, the series that the Tsang party produced were traditionally highly regarded in terms of public praise as well as ratings (series like "War and Beauty" and "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" for example).

In the 2004 Anniversary Awards battle, Gigi Lai’s actions of ‘exchanging her contract’ for the TV Queen award stifled the Lok Party’s Charmaine Sheh from rising to the top, so she (Charmaine) had to wait until 2006 to successfully become TV Queen.

Therefore, it can be seen that the struggles between the Tsang Party and Lok Party would rise and fall in succession, oftentimes surrounded by peril.

Chan Party vs Lok Party: Not Accepting of Each Other

The relationship between Stephen Chan and Virginia Lok can be said to one filled with contradiction – primary reason is because the 2 of them refuse to be overruled by each other, which made their competition especially fierce. Virginia Lok’s ‘rule’ for promoting artists is pretty much in line with TVB’s conventional method – “loyalty” is number one and “internal conflict” is frowned upon. Stephen Chan’s method is completely opposite – his approach is “if you are not able to promote them to stardom, I will” – which, in a sense, was a means of “belittling” the opposing Party. Fala Chan is the ultimate example of this, as she was single-handedly ‘promoted’ by Stephen Chan to the position of Best Supporting Actress; it was rumored that Fala’s personality was too ‘open’ – every couple days, she would be ‘in the news’ or ‘out getting attention’ – causing both Catherine Tsang and Virginia Lok to dislike her. So Stephen took Fala under his wing and started promoting her.

Over time, internal conflict escalated between Stephen and Virginia.

****************

Part 3: Possibilities

Will Virginia Lok ‘smile’ until the end? Will the Leung Party and Lok Party collaborate to ‘overcome’ the Tsang Party?

With Stephen Chan’s arrest and the chances of him returning to TVB very slim, the ‘Party politics’ that has played out behind the scenes at TVB for ages will undoubtedly undergo significant changes. Due to Virginia Lok’s advantage of having a group of immensely popular younger generation ‘siu sangs’ and ‘fa-dans’ in her Party, plus the so-called ‘support’ of Mrs. Shaw (Mona Fong) behind the scenes, there is a high possibility that the Lok Party may join forces with the Leung Party to “stifle” the Tsang Party. However, Catherine Tsang has been known to have “Nine Lives” [comes back strong each time she gets beaten down], so this particular “battle” will definitely be very interesting.

The Lok Party: Siu sangs and fa-dans become the ‘pillars’ of TVB

It is rumored that Stephen Chan’s “fall from grace” will ‘elevate’ the status of the various siu sangs and fa-dans in the Lok Party. Virginia Lok’s number one favorite (and god-son) Kevin Cheng, other favorites Bosco Wong, Raymond Lam, Moses Chan, Myolie Wu, Charmaine Sheh, Linda Chung, etc will likely be heavily promoted. Even Kate Tsui – who chose to ‘get close’ to Virginia Lok on her own accord – will probably have a lot of acting jobs coming up. In addition, rumor has it that TVB’s internal production team has received “secret orders” to promote all the above artists – whether through new series or variety shows – so that they can eventually become the ‘pillars’ of TVB. As Mona Fong’s ‘favorite’, there is a huge possibility that Virginia Lok could be ‘smiling’ until the end [come out on top].

The Tsang Party: Rely on true talent and praiseworthy performances to stay on top

Though Catherine Tsang may not be as strong in the competition between the Parties, it cannot be denied that her view of people as well as series is extremely accurate – in addition to the palace-scheming, war-themed hit series "War and Beauty" and "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" (which were produced by her Party), part of the success of last year’s award-winning "Rosy Business" can also be contributed to her, as she was the one who personally picked Wayne Lai to star in the series. Also, she possesses the ‘big card’ that will surely be an advantage to her Party: “Golden Producer” Lee Tim Shing. With the high anticipation for this year’s "Rosy Business" sequel (produced by Lee), there is almost sure to be a ‘ratings surge’ for the series.

The Leung Party: Continue to “run with the pack”; possibility of joining Lok Party

With veteran artists Jamie Chik, Ray Lui, Kenix Kwok, Gallen Lo, and Anita Yuen returning to TVB last year, the Leung Party seized the opportunity to have their series "Born Rich" elevated to the status of ‘grand production anniversary series’ alongside the Tsang Party’s "Beyond the Realm of Conscience". Unfortunately, the ratings for "Born Rich" did not even come close to those for "Beyond the Realm of Conscience", with "Born Rich" lagging way behind. From this it can be seen that Tommy Leung’s “golden years” have long since passed and his Party is pretty much in the position of ‘running with the pack’ now. However, because Tommy Leung is enemies with Catherine Tsang, if he is not able to make amends with her, there is a possibility of him joining forces with Virginia Lok to go against Catherine.

Part 4: Conversation

Hong Kong veteran media reporter Huang Si Nong accepted an interview with our paper yesterday. He analyzed Stephen Chan’s “fall from grace” situation as well as the impact on TVB. He states that Stephen Chan being arrested by the ICAC is not necessarily a bad thing – it’s like knocking down a beehive so that it can’t do any more harm. In addition, Huang feels that even though this situation is very damaging to TVB at the moment and ATV may jump on the opportunity, it is his belief that the grand TVB Entertainment Empire that Run Run Shaw created will not be destroyed that easily.

Q = Reporter
A = Huang Si Nong

Q: Have you heard of Stephen Chan’s arrest already? Did you get a chance to look into the details yet?

A: I’ve been in Hong Kong the past few weeks, so I did hear the news. In my observation, the ICAC has never been this ‘high profile’ in terms of arrests – in the past, it was always “invite for coffee” type situation (drink coffee, have a conversation) – plus they are usually very protective of the person they are “inviting” for coffee. This time, it’s directly “arresting,” which shows that ICAC must have some type of confirmed information. Also, there were reports that TVB themselves were the ones who “unveiled” the scandal – if that is true, then the situation is like the real-life version of TVB’s palace wars dramas.

Q: This time, TVB did things very publicly and high profile, which has caused people to speculate that this was planned all along by them and was a result of internal power struggles. What do you think is the primary internal struggle/contradiction within TVB?

A: Internal power struggles within an organization is usually due to people not being able to get along with each other. It’s just like animals will always try to compete and fight with each other. For instance, I own a few rabbits as pets and sometimes when they fight, one usually tries to kill the other one that it perceives as its enemy. Not sure if using this animal analogy makes sense.

Q: Currently, TVB is controlled by Mrs Shaw (Mona Fong) and internally they are separated into 4 ‘parties’ or ‘cliques’. What role do you feel each of them play in TVB?

A: I’m not too familiar with the so-called ‘parties,” but I am familiar with Mr. Run Run Shaw. In terms of the battle between the 4 parties, I’m not too clear.

Q: What do you feel will be the impact of this situation on TVB?

A: It will help eliminate the “cancers.” In a huge organization, if there is someone who utilizes their power [within the organization] to earn outside money, it is a very serious matter. Especially since the creation of the ICAC, they are very strict on this type of stuff. Back when I was a social reporter, we had to interact with many people as part of our jobs and of course with that came financial implications; therefore, we set a policy that we absolutely were not allowed to receive any “red envelopes.” As for Stephen Chan, he’s a public figure and already has high pay, so for him to still take money (if true) is really a shame. One good thing though is that the situation being revealed can serve as a “warning” to others. If someone does this and they are captured, then it is good because it can serve the purpose of eliminating the “cancers” in the organization.

Q: TVB’s biggest competitor ATV has been going through management changes again recently. With Stephen Chan’s situation, is this then the perfect opportunity for ATV to rebound?

A: If I were ATV, I would absolutely seize this opportunity tightly! In a competition, those in the same industry are usually like enemy nations in a war – whenever there is a “weak point”, it should be immediately grabbed up. It’s just like with horseracing – when the opponent starts to slow, you need to take advantage of it and crack the whip to go faster in the hopes of overtaking the competition.

Q: So will ATV take this opportunity to recruit TVB’s resources, thereby causing even greater harm to the network?

A: This can be answered with another rabbit analogy – a rabbit will go in the direction where there is fresh green grass. However, currently, TVB is still an Entertainment Empire – a massive mother ship created by Mr. Run Run Shaw – so it won’t be easily destroyed. This “punch” (the current situation) will perhaps be a heavy blow, but after the air clears, the empire will still remain standing. Also, one last point – ATV’s talent pool can’t compare to TVB’s, as TVB is full of resources.

Tavia Yeung focuses on filming series, don't care about executive changes

Friday, March 19, 2010 Posted by Admin 0 comments
Tavia Yeung attended TED BAKER's Spring Fashion Show as a special guest model yesterday. She modeled two new spring fashions. She exposed that when she did the catwalk, because the heels were too high she almost tripped. Luckily it didn't happen in the end.

It was rumored that TVB appointed rumor-free Petrus Au to replace Stephen Chan's General Manager position? She expressed that she has seen him, but does not know too much about how the executive functions, it is more important to do well on your own part, do well on the series. It was said that there was a possibility of new manager new style? She felt that there is a new image, there are always people coming and going in every profession.

Regarding the rumors that artists sends expensive gifts to 'suck up' to the executives? Tavia said that she would just give mooncakes on holidays, it is part of the Chinese tradition. Has she ever given birthday gifts to the executives, like Virgina Lok? She said that last year on Miss Lok's birthday, she had to work and was not able to attend the party, however she believes that the soul purpose of the party is to provide some happiness for every artist.

Yoyo Mung travels to Japan to buy soy sauce

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Earlier Yoyo Mung flew to Japan to shop and re-energize herself. Turns out that she'll choose to travel to Japan 80% of the time. Although she doesn't know Japanese, she went so often that she became a Japanese literate.

In Japan, Yoyo often goes on a shopping madness for clothes, but in the recent year she has changed this habit, instead she goes on an eating spree. She says: "Nowadays I buy food more often, like even soy sauce I'll buy! Half of the trip is placed on food." Although the bill is quite high, after buying and dumping all the stuff she brought out on the bed at the hotel, she feels great satisfaction.

Analysis of TVB’s ‘Parties’ and ‘Cliques’: Real-life "Beyond the Realm of Conscience"?

Posted by Admin 0 comments
The recent scandal over TVB GM Stephen Chan’s arrest for alleged corruption has so far played out like one of the station’s own dramas. Though Stephen Chan and 4 others have now been released on bail awaiting further investigation, there does not seem to be an end in sight to the ongoing saga, with one person after another ‘spilling the beans’ on the inner workings and disarray at TVB. Of course, the ‘biggest’ news so far has been the rumors that Stephen Chan was ‘turned in’ to the ICAC by none other than his employer TVB due to his ‘falling out of favor’ with top management. As for TVB being overrun by ‘parties’ and ‘cliques’, this is a well-known ‘secret’ by almost everyone in the industry. Virginia Lok, Catherine Tsang, Tommy Leung, and Stephen Chan are the ‘head’ of the executive team and have the power to control and promote artists. If Stephen Chan loses all power due to the scandal, then the competition of the ‘4 parties’ will be greatly affected, resulting in only 3 parties remaining (Virginia Lok, Catherine Tsang, Tommy Leung). Out of the 3, it has been rumored that Mona Fong’s ‘favorite’ Virginia Lok would likely prevail and the group of young artists under her would become the ‘face’ of TVB in the future.

With the commotion surrounding Stephen Chan’s case now, the developments and the way things are playing out in the media rival that of the inner palace conflicts and struggles in TVB’s highly-rated hit from last year "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" -- except that the real-life events are even more dramatic and interesting.

Part 1: The 4 Parties

The Chan Party – Leader: Stephen Chan

Stephen Chan: TVB’s General Manager, used to be a DJ. Prior to being arrested, he did the ‘voiceovers’ for various TVB variety and specialty shows and simultaneously hosted the interview show "Be My Guest". Since becoming GM, Stephen’s presence has been quite strong and his flamboyance has attracted many to him. It is rumored that Stephen ‘loves’ promoting the artists that others [managers] don’t want – the greatest example is Fala Chan, whom he single-handedly pushed to the “Best Supporting Actress” position. TV Queen Sheren Tang, who is known for constantly going against Virginia Lok, is also highly favored by Stephen. In addition, Patrick Tang, Amigo Chui, etc. – also his favorites – were able to win many awards at the 2007 TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony, though there was a lot of backlash afterwards.

Favorite Male Artists – Amigo Chui, Sammul Chan, Patrick Tang, Wong Hei, etc.

Favorite Female Artists – Sheren Tang, Fala Chan, Tavia Yeung, etc.

The Lok Party – Leader: Virginia Lok

Virginia Lok: TVB’s Production and Resources Manager, with primary jurisdiction over all matters related to TVB’s artists; also one of the “official” representatives and spokesperson for the artists. The “Lok” Party consists primarily of the newer generation ‘siu sangs’ and ‘fa-dans’. With her position, it can be said that the fate of ALL TVB artists is in her hands. Virginia Lok has made quite a few new artists popular through promotion – Kevin Cheng is the biggest example of this. Back in the days, Kevin Cheng had been in the industry for a long time, but was never able to become popular until he officially became Virginia Lok’s “god-son” – after that, he started getting lead roles in series after series (most of them grand productions), which paved the way for his ‘TV King’ award in 2006.

Favorite Male Artists – Kevin Cheng, Moses Chan, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng, Bosco Wong, etc.

Favorite Female Artists – Charmaine Sheh, Myolie Wu, Linda Chung, Kate Tsui, etc.

The Tsang Party – Leader: Catherine Tsang

Catherine Tsang: TVB’s Production Department Head (Series); was once a broadcaster at RTHK; affectionately nicknamed “Jen Jie” by the artists. Catherine started with TVB in 1974 and has been credited with launching the careers of HK’s biggest stars such as Chow Yun Fat, Andy Lau, Tony Leung, etc. She has gone through both the ‘Run Run Shaw era’ as well as the ‘Mona Fong era’ and has remained strongly standing to this day. The Tsang Party consists almost entirely of the most skilled and talented artists (in terms of acting) in TVB, however because Catherine’s focus has always been on directing behind the scenes, coupled with much of the power being in Virginia Lok’s hands, so her artists are never heavily promoted.

Favorite Male Artists: Bobby AuYeung, Steven Ma, Wayne Lai, etc.

Favorite Female Artists: Ada Choi, Maggie Cheung, Shirley Yeung, etc.

The Leung Party – Leader: Tommy Leung

Tommy Leung: TVB Producer; Head of Series Production. Started with TVB in 1973 and is considered an ‘elder’-type figure [started with the company from the beginning]. His specialty includes grand commercial productions. 2001 was the “Year of Leung’s Party”, as the ‘siu sangs’ and ‘fa dans’ under him at that time – Louis Koo, Gallen Lo, Jessica Hsuan, Flora Chan, etc. – were all “high ratings guarantees”. After strong competition with Tsang’s Party for many years, Leung’s Party had already lost some of it’s steam – then, when Virginia Lok came to power in 2003, his Party had to battle with hers as well. Currently, almost all of Leung’s artists have left TVB.

Favorite Male Artists: Gallen Lo, Roger Kwok, Louis Koo, etc.

Favorite Female Artists: Sonjia Kwok, Jessica Hsuan, Flora Chan, etc.

Myolie Wu Blamed Bosco Wong For Creating 'Romance Troubles'

When Myolie Wu accepted Cha Siu Yan's phone interview, with regards to the photos of rumored boyfriend, Bosco Wong, holding onto a lady being leaked out, she said, "I've nothing to comment about. We'll contact each other through the phone from time to time. But won't talk about these problems. (Tell him not to hold onto girls?) It's not within my control. Every time also leave such 'romance troubles' to me! (Which is more tiring - responding to such matters or filming action scenes?) Of course responding is more tiring lah! Recently, I haven't got to see him. I'm more into playing on my cell phone all the time."

Ronald Cheng eyes red reluctantly gives up Ah Sa

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Ronald Cheng and Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) dated for 6 years, and suddenly announced their break up the day before yesterday, making them the media's main focus. Yesterday, Ronald, Stephy Tang, Gigi Leung and Alex Fong attended the press conference for their new film "Once Upon A Chinese Classic" in GuangZhou. The Hong Kong media surrounded Ronald for interviews even before the conference started. It was rumored that the break up was due to Ronald being a playboy, he expressed: "You ask me, of course I won't admit it. You should ask Ah Sa. (Is it because of a third party?) Not at all, we both feel that its the best for us. (Because you were rumored with Angelababy, so Ah Sa broke up with you based on her instincts?) This is clearly for the film's promotions." Ronald implied that the rumors were for "All Well Ends Well 2010" promotion.

On the day the two announced their break up, there were rumors that they were already married, towards this Ronald expressed: "Right now, I have already said too much about my private life. Before the rumors about breaking up and then the secret marriage has led to too many unnecessary speculations. (You didn't denied to the marriage rumors, so there are many speculations?) That's because I don't want to have any more speculations, I just feel that its better that way. I don't want the rumors to hurt either Ah Sa or me, so I don't want to respond anymore." Ronald expressed he didn't want Ah Sa and his entire private life put out into the public for them to analyze.

Asked if he felt that its a pity the 6 year relationship just ended, Ronald paused for a few seconds, appearing very hurt, he expressed with his eyes turning red: "Well, we decided this together, thank you all for the concern. (Any chance of reconciling?) Not answering." Then Ronald's assistant pulled him away, when the press conference started, Ronald looked depressed on stage.

Director teases Alex Fong's lies

Alex Fong just found out about Ah Sa's break up yesterday, towards the marriage rumors between the two? He said: "I don't know, I didn't even know they were dating." The director, Jeffrey Lau who was right next to him laughed loudly when he heard Alex's response and said: "That is so cute! I just love Alex's jokes, he even tells lies worse than others." Then he patted Alex and embarrassed him.

Gigi Leung says artists have to share private life with everyone

Gigi Leung expressed that she heard someone say that Ronald and Ah Sa already broke up, but at the time she thought they were just saying it. Gigi said: "I won't bother asking, this is Ronald's privacy, I will respect his decision. During the "Once Upon A Chinese Classic" promotion, he was very professional, nothing strange." Gigi expressed that artists are very miserable because they have to "share" their private life with everyone, she said: "It's okay to share happy moments, but even breaking up we have to announce it! Of course one wouldn't want to mention it, but have to provide an explanation to the media, I totally understand what they're going through." Gigi is not someone who is lavish, she just hopes to keep everything low-key. Asked about her current love life? She said: "Don't ask me! Let fate decide."

‘Fire of Conscience’ to hit the sceens soon; Leon Lai, Richie Ren matchmaking Michelle Ye

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Leon Lai, Michelle Ye, Richie Ren, the three leads in police-bandit action mega production ‘Fire of Conscience’ were present at Hong Kong’s 34th International Film Festival’s press conference promotion event to introduce their movie which will premier on 23rd March, and hitting the screens officially on 1st April.

Leon Lai plays a sloppy looking full of action detective in the movie, his ruthlessness caused him to be suspended from his job. Michelle Ye transformed from her gentle image in the past into an action actress, playing a loyal to love police officer who stays with Leon Lai, supporting and assisting him to solve several major cases, the two works together facing all challenges, while senior police officer Richie Ren acts in strategy plotting and firing battles.

In the interview, when asked of the challenges of filming, Leon Lai complained the moustache of his sloppy image in the movie is a big irritation for him, it was uncomfortable to stick the ‘hair’ to his face for long hours. Michelle Ye replied the many action scenes and stamina requiring stunts are the biggest challenge. When they were playing question and answer games onstage, there were audience who mismatched Richie Ren and Michelle Ye’s roles, causing Richie to laugh helplessly on ground. When reporters asked Michelle ye is she has found her perfect match in real life, Michelle laughed saying she has yet found one, but she has Richie Ren, Leon Lai and several other good friends who were very enthusiastic to matchmake her, so she has nothing to worry about

Michael Tao is not part of any ‘cliques’ or 'parties'; speaks out against TVB

Posted by Admin 0 comments
After Stephen Chan was arrested on alleged corruption charges last week, his ‘power' at TVB has disintegrated. Recently, it has been rumored that TVB’s Assistant Manager Au Wai Lam has already taken over some of Stephen’s GM responsibilities and may eventually take his place. According to reports, Au Wai Lam is not only a low key manager who does not belong to any ‘cliques’, he is also highly favored by TVB Vice-Chairman Mona Fong. If this is true, it has been said that those artists who don’t belong to ‘cliques’ and previously fell out of favor with TVB’s management because of this – artists such as Michael Tao, Lawrence Ng, Ada Choi – may finally get a chance to ‘resurrect’ their careers!

With regard to rumors about possible ‘changes’ at TVB due to new management, Michael Tao – who ended his contract with TVB last year – expressed that he did not know whether the rumors are true or not, but took the opportunity to ‘reprimand’ TVB for not knowing how to properly utilize their resources [their people]: “TVB really needs to be more pragmatic; in the past, those artists who worked hard were not given opportunities, yet those who were ‘lazy’ and ‘don’t know what they are doing’ were given a lot of opportunities! When it’s questioned, there is no response given! I hope that TVB gets back on the proper path – a TV station is a place for ‘production’ not a place for ‘cliques’!” He also pointed out that the reason he decided to leave TVB last year was because he did not agree with the way they operate: “It’s too biased toward one side – since they use mostly their own ‘sons and daughters’, artists like me had to ‘sit on the bench’!” (Since you’ve been at TVB over 20 years, have you seen these so-called ‘cliques’ in existence?) “Of course there is favoritism – and it is unfair! They need to find a better balance and not let it get so disorderly.” (How about giving gifts to upper management?) “Well, since I’m not ‘heavily utilized’, I don’t have money to buy gifts for them!”

Former TVB actor Lawrence Ng indicated that if TVB really does make ‘changes’, it will definitely be a good thing, as having ‘cliques’ will not produce any good results. Being at TVB over 20 years, he indicated that he has never given any gifts to management and has never participated in any ‘cliques’ or ‘parties’: “I’ve worked with both Catherine Tsang and Tommy Leung in the past and both of them have been very good to me – they give me a lot of series to film and we collaborate very happily together. However, I have never given them any gifts.”

Since she just returned from Beijing, TVB veteran actress Liza Wang indicated that she is not aware of any new management taking over and will await the decision of the company. Also, she pointed out that she is not too familiar with ‘cliques’ and has not heard of artists giving gifts in exchange for ‘opportunities’: “I just returned to Hong Kong from the mainland, so there are a lot of things I still don’t know. Most of what I have heard has come from the media. I actually do want to know who will be taking over as GM, however I feel that whoever it is, the effect won’t be that huge, since this is a big company after all. I’m not worried, since I usually do what I’m supposed to do anyway.”

As for Jessica Hsuan, she indicated that she is not very close with Stephen Chan, however if he says he didn’t do it, then he should have nothing to be afraid of. In terms of who the new GM will be, she says that it should not matter – plus the ‘rumored’ names that have come up so far are all ‘TVB people’.

Michelle Ye transforms into action actress; cuts hair short and runs 7 streets in one breath

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Director Dante Lam of ‘The Beast Stalker’, Leon Lai and Richie Ren leading in police-bandit action movie ‘Fire of Conscience’ will soon hit the screens on 1st April. Besides the two male leads having war zone action scenes, sexy actress Michelle Ye too sacrificed her long hair, becoming the one ‘lady officer’ in the film.

‘Fire of Conscience’ (in Chinese it is literally ‘Fire Dragon’) title originates from Hong Kong’s fire dragon dance show. In 1880 mid-autumn festival, there was an epidemic breakout, the people then depended on fire dragon dance to battle with this epidemic. Director Dante Lam expressed: “Fire dragon dance allowed me to recall everyone has an ‘epidemic’ within them, when your will is weak, it will win over your rationale and conscience, thus I think the significance of fire dragon dance and the people I usually film with matches, a very suitable simile.”

Michelle Ye’s tough appearance in ‘Fire of Conscience’, sacrificed her long hair to become ‘lady officer’

Michelle Ye plays Leon’s assistant in the film as a police officer and is assigned a tough appearance. She specially cut her years of long hair short, however she did not feel that it was a pity: “I feel that short hair is the best portrayal of a police officer’s style, since I’ve accepted (to play) this role, I will put my best efforts in, long hair can be grown again.” Meanwhile, during filming, she too has numerous action scenes to accomplish, among them she was to dash seven streets in one shot with Leon Lai, when talked about this, she expressed: “I do workout usually, but I really have no idea how far I actually ran that day, director filmed a few times, he wanted to give audience a longer (running) scene, we ended up running down 7 streets, after we finished the scene, I no longer know where I actually was.” Towards Michelle’s performance, Director Dante Lam gave her very high praises: “Michelle cut her long hair of several years just for this movie and brought to life a frontline and earnest police officer, she is the few Hong Kong actress who is able to handle war zone and action scenes well. She used to give the impression of gracefulness with a tad of sexiness, but it seems like she is good with tough too. After watching ‘Fire of Conscience’, (audience will) definitely have higher regards for her. Because be it chasing scenes or firing (guns) action scenes, they’re all very nice to watch and you can definitely feel her diligence and efforts in filming.”

Sighing it’s ‘cool to have guns’, praises Leon Lai to be tender, hard to forget ‘admiration’ scenes

Michelle Ye has been using her sexy female image in the past works, when talked about her transformation into a resolute police officer, she was very excited: “it’s definitely very different from my roles in the past, it was more feminine in the past, wearing glamorous clothes, but I like the simplicity of this movie, sexiness is not in what you wear, but what your spirit is, I feel that holding a gun is sexy.” Talking about her relationship scenes in the movie, Michelle Ye expressed: “She is a weak person in relationship, she admires Leon Lai yet dares not confess and silently helps him with everything, she is a reserved person.” Talking about her having numerous scenes with Leon Lai, Michelle Ye humbly expressed: “He is a very easy going person, and very nice, tender and delicate towards girls, there were several times when we filmed dangerous scenes, he took care of me well.”

Stephen Chan held a press conference

Posted by Admin 0 comments
2010/03/18 Today at 3:30 pm Stephen Chan held a short press conference at Regal Hong Kong Hotel at East Tsim Sha Tsui to address the ICAC case. Since his arrest on 3/11, this is his first time responding to media questions. A hundred or so reporters gathered at the venue. When the conference starts, Stephen’s lawyer, Ivan, makes his appearance first. Stephen, wearing a black jacket over his pink shirt, appears soon after, and stands behind the table letting the reporters take his pictures.

Stephen thanks his friends for their concern, as well as the Mongkok flower vendor for his buy one get one free pomelo leaves. He expresses that his daily life continues as usual, like going out to eat and for personal health check-up. And that the purpose for arranging this press conference is to avoid chaos arises from wrangling interviews.

Stephen expresses that due to the ongoing investigation, he cannot discuss the details just yet but he can speak of things that media might find interesting. Such as: “Why he wore a mask after leaving ICAC?” Stephen jests because he knew the press would be waiting for him so he wanted to look presentable, but when he was shaving he accidentally nicked his face, hence the mask. He did not want the press to misunderstand that the wound on his face came from ICAC.

Stephen also asserts his life is fine, don’t worry and thank everybody for their concern. He candidly admits that ICAC case has brought changes to his life. He says: Whose lives do not go through changes? If you are confronted with some inexplicable changes, please don’t be afraid or gripe, more importantly, don’t give up, because Truth can’t be faked, falsehood can't become truth. "

Then he left the scene without responding to the reporters’ questions. Apparently during the conference, Wong Hei, who has previously visited Stephen at this apartment, was there too to support his support.

Beauty Scheme:Myolie Wu:doesn't bother about rumours with Shao Feng

Thursday, March 18, 2010 Posted by Admin 0 comments
On the 15th, Myolie Wu accepted Ent.163 exclusive interview. Myolie Wu: Cannot say like that. The filming process and other perspectives in China and in Hong Kong are different. Can't say which side earns more.

Myolie isn't bothered about the rumours when she works with Feng Shao Feng.

Ent.163 exclusive reports. On 15th, Myolie Wu accepted Ent.163 exclusive interview. Beauty Scheme is Myolie's first drama in China. Her co-actor is China's Siu Sang, Feng Shao Feng, whom she has worked with in The Drive of Life and had rumours with. Myolie expressed that both of them are just friends. During filming, she isn't bothered about the rumours and isn't worried that her "good friend" Bosco Wong will be jealous.

Working with Feng Shao Feng, isn't bothered about rumours

Ent.163: Let's talk about your character in Beauty Scheme.

Myolie: Luk Yu is actually from a noble family, but because her mother is not the first wife, they have been chased out of the palace. Her mother is a gambler. Since young, Luk Yu has been selling fish to make a living. Then she met Feng Shao Feng who is acting as General. He is attracted by Luk Yu's gentleness and strong character. For the sake of his own career, my brother match-made us, but in the end, he had a misunderstanding with Feng Shao Feng's character. The wedding day was supposed to be happy but because he thought that Luk Yu has lied to him, he became unhappy. of course, in the end, it is a happy ending.

163: This is your first time filming in China, what attracted you to film this drama?

M: In the recent years, there hasn't been any big productions in China where the ladies are the leads. I have been wanting to work with Yu Zheng and he has approached me many times but my schedule hasn't been able to work out. In August last year, i happened to be free so i thought why not try filming a drama in Chinese, and treat it as a training session.

163: Do you have any different feelings when you say your lines for the first time in Chinese?

M: I was quite nervous during the first scene. Initially it feels weird, but now, it feels more fluent. The filming was quite smooth, no NG. I am quite satisfied with myself.

163: You have the most scenes with Feng Shao Feng in the drama. The last time both of you worked together was in The Drive of life and there were rumours about both of you. Was it awkward working together again?

M: No, we are quite good friends and didn't bother about the rumours and fake stories.

163: Do you more interactions with Feng Shao Feng? Are you worried that Bosco Wong will be jealous?

M: There were more interactions because my scenes are with him. I already said we are good friends, so why would there be jealousy?

No need to play with one's mind when filming Beauty Scheme

163: There are many ladies scenes in Beauty Scheme. Will the ladies be fighting for attention? How will one let her role stand out?

M: We are acting according to the script, doesn't have to snatch and can't snatch too. In the drama, every role has its own character and distinguish feature. Hence, doesn't have to specially think of how to stand out.

163: Heard that the pay is higher when filming in China instead of Hong Kong?

M: Can't say that, the filming process and other factors in China and Hong Kong are different, can't say which side pays more.

163: Is it more tiring and hard filming in Hong Kong or China?

M: I feel that it is different. I can't go home when i film in China, and this is hard. In Hong Kong, the filming process might be longer but i can go home. This is a different situation.

163: What are your next plans in your work?

M: "Happy Mother in law, Pretty daughter in law" will end the filming tomorrow. I will return to Hong Kong and in April, i will be filming a modern drama.

Charlene Choi disclosed that she and Ronald Cheng have split up

Posted by Admin 0 comments
Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) disclosed yesterday that she and Ronald Cheng have ended their 6 years love affairs. Ah Sa was in Beijing attending a promotion activity for the movie "Beauty On Duty" yesterday. The reporters kept asking her whether she has accepted Ronald's proposal? Ah Sa was in flood of tears and she told the reporters that they have in fact split up for a while. However, Ah Sa said they are still friends.

Yesterday, a magazine reported that Ah Sa and Ronald secretly got married in Los Angeles in 2006, parents from both of them attended the wedding ceremony. iT gave everybody a shock to hear that they have split up. Ah Sa said "We have split up for a while. We didn't intend to bring it to the open, but there have been so many rumors about us recently. I feel I have to clarify our relationship now. We have separated because we have understood each other so well, not because of a third person or the wedding rumor. We have good memories together and we are still friends." As Sa was in tears and she added "This is the last time I will talk about my person affairs. I have split up with him for a long time and I hope the media don't portray us as a happy couple. We are not together anymore." The reporters were all stunned after hearing that. Afterwards, some reporters contacted Ronald who was in Chengdu to clarify if it is true that he and Ah Sa have separated, Ronald told the reporter it is true that they have split up a long time ago and they are still friends.

Ah Sa and Ronald were working on the movie "Sniper August 15" in 2004. They were dating underground for a while. It was not a good start because Ronald has been in trouble for being drunken and disorderly. Ah Sa has been busy working on her own since "Twins" were disbanded. They didn't spend a lot of time together. Also because they were seeing each other secretly, they could only spend time together staying indoors. Most of the time were spent at home watching DVD or out some where far away from the crowd for dinner or to watch a movie.

Ronald spends a lot of time abroad, but Ah Sa often knows his where about. If she can't find him, she gets very jealous and upset. That is why last year, Ronald made a point of talking about his girl friend in public. He also mentioned about getting married. Even recently, when he had a magazine interview, he still maintained that he is saving up to get married. There was another rumor that Ah Sa had thought about getting married to him, but she is not 100% confident about their relationship. Since the Edison Chan/Gillian Chung's (Ah Gill) sex scandal, Ah Sa has learned how to protect herself. Ah Sa and Ronald started having different directions and goals in life, leading to their separation.

In January, Ah Sa had an interview by MingPao. She gave some hints about the state of their relationship, but did not reveal that they have split up. She said she has discovered that there are more important things in her life than love and relationship. She was hoping to change her lifestyle. Last month, Ah Sa and Ah Gill were guests in Stephen Chan's "Be My Guest". Stephen asked her if she is worried that her boyfriend had a lot of history of love affairs? Ah Sa said "He wouldn't be my boyfriend if he is flirting around. But everyone has a history, so is he and so am I. Nobody is perfect. The most important thing is whether we can get along well together."
