(East Asia Singers)
RTHK's Top 10 Chinese Gold Songs Awards will be held on January 7, 2011 [Oriental Daily] received news from a reliable source that the two major record companies EEG and East Asia will cut their attendance with RTHK. All singers under EEG and East Asia will not only boycott the RTHK music awards presentation, but also be absent from the "10 Excellent Singer" nominations event held on the 31st of December. This clearly not giving face to RTHK.
It was said that the royalty issues between TVB and the Big 4 exploded a bomb. In November, for the "4 Station Joint Music Awards", RTHK proposed to stop the 'Media Award' for this year. As RTHK did not consult with the other major labels about the their good friend Big 4. Since then, EEG and East Asia announced together they will never take part in the '4 Station Joint Music Awards' again. Two weeks later, RTHK announced that they have cut the 'Media Choice Award', even Metrolnfo did not dare to oppose and make excuses.
Denise Ho not RTHK's cup of tea
Since EEG is angered with the Media Award suspension, Joey Yung's perfect dream is over, while Raymond Lam had no songs charted on the Top 10 Chinese Billboards all year long. Instead ATV singer Aldason Lo broke into 3rd place on the Top 10 Chinese Billboards beating Raymond. Coincidentally, RTHK's music award presentation producer (Chow Kwok Fung) became the judge for ATV's Asian Million Star. No wonder, EEG was upset. East Asia also is angered with RTHK because Miriam Yeung was once the MC for the awards presentation, but back then she left empty-handed. Also, East Asia singer Denise Ho have never been RTHK's cup of tea, as she never been on the "Top 10 Excellent Singers", both sides have been rumored to be on bad terms for several years.
EEG strongly supports their singers to boycott RTHK, after Joey attended the JSG Song Selections Round 3 the night before, yesterday she attended a Metro radio event. Metro Radio announced that she has 355,005 votes and is currently in first place for "Metro's Radio Hits Female Singer Award", Joey frankly said that she has confidence for the award. Asked how many awards she thinks she'll get this year? She said: "Quality not quantity. Most important is to have people feel that I deserve the award. As for Big 4 and TVB breaking the ice, Joey said: "Hope they can go to all 4 award presentations. Although the Hong Kong music scene isn't big, the coming together force can make the music scene even better. (Don't always have to go on JSG anymore?) The highest record is 3 times in a month, every enjoyable. I am grateful myself." Joey has great success, no matter which award presentation she misses, it will be a lost.
