At the end of 2008, Ron Ng received a gold medal for being in the industry for 10 years. He wasn’t the most well known the all of the TVB Siu Sings but he managed to get many lead roles for many series. Out of the 5, he is the most calm- cold blooded. Emerging as a siu sing these 10 years has given him a long list of opportunities and has allowed him to really mature.
The Cold Blooded innermost feelings- hardly speaks a wordUnlike others he doesn’t talk, in The Four it definitely raises an eye. It’s the first time the four siu sings have acted together, and the one who has a scar on his face; Ron Ng doesn’t have a lot of time on screen and has the least lines but was able to slightly grab the audience’s attention.
“In actual fact, not having to say so much is much easier, the lines are mostly said by the other characters and only having to use my body language to bring out my character is ok la. But in this show every one of us has our own character and stories. When it aired I watched it right through till the end and I thought that it wasn’t bad”.Cold blooded- in the outside he’s as cold as a fridge but on the inside there is cold internal heat. Even though he has nothing much to say he must make the character appear ‘cool’ therefore examining the characters personality is first priority. Even though he’s played many vigorous youths, Ron actually really likes these kinds of characters. “I actually like these types of characters. Lang Huet is like this, and also in the Brink of Law when I played Tong Yut Jun it was pretty much the same.
10 years- only needs one reasonIn 1998 Ron Ng managed to get into the TVB dancing class, the reason was very simple because
“before I had only learnt to dance and never learnt to act”. But one day the company asked whether he wanted to join acting class, but his mum said to him
“Once you enter the industry, you can never turn back”. Even if his mum didn’t say this, Ron knew that in the industry there would be a lot of worries. At this time Raymond Lam was starting to become more popular, many friends convinced Ron and he had to think for 3 months before he decided.
“At the time I thought that I’d give myself 5 years to give it ago”. But who knew that in the five years he trained and played many minor roles right until the last year when he filmed Triumph in the Skies there was a reason for him to continue on…
“In that series my character was more important. When it aired in Hong Kong I didn’t dare to watch it, but in the end I thought it wasn’t bad. He then realized that filming each series was pretty much the same, one after the other I managed to learn different things from each series I filmed and the different characters I played, it was fun and I could earn money as well”.
After Triumph in the skies, Ron finally managed to have a lead role in Find the light. After these five years, his generation finally started to emerge.
Sohu entertainment (SE): In these ten years as an artist, which series has meant the most to you?
Ron: The first one would be Triumph in the Skies, then Find the light and if there’s one more it has to be Twin of brothers.
SE: Find the Light was your first time as the male lead, what were your feelings like back then?
Ron: Actually in the beginning when they asked me to act in it I didn’t know I was going to be the main lead and until we started filming. When I found out I was really happy. Afterwards I actually realised how nerve racking it could be but at that time I didn’t really think about it that much and I didn’t give myself too much pressure. I never thought of myself as the lead but just a newcomer. The director taught Bosco and I many things; teaching us how to film ancient series, how we had to say our lines, the way we had to use our body language and the way we had to walk.
SE: You’ve filmed many series, which one do you like the most?
Ron: Twin of brothers because this show was really interesting. Raymond and my character in the story was actually like our real personalities except we switched personalities. So we had to rely on each other to film this series. Everyday when we filmed we’d treat each other as our mirror, it was like seeing ourselves. From this series I learnt how to really communicate and act with my partner.
SE: In Twin of Brothers which was your most memorable scene?
Ron: The one where we reveal our butts. In the story there actually wasn’t this scene but the director wanted us to film it. We thought that in Hong Kong they wouldn’t air in but the director said he’d wait to see the outcome. After it came out, on the second day there were complaints. But I actually didn’t think it was that bad because it really suited the series.
SE: Being in TVB for 10 years, what is your biggest feeling?
Ron: Since young I’ve been watching TVB cartoons and I’ve always thought of TVB as a big family. In these 10 years I’ve learnt many things. It doesn’t matter whether it’s thinking about how to film the show, how to portray the character its all part of filming. If it was 8 years ago and I was sitting here and I had to accept an interview like this I probably couldn’t take it. The reporter would speak more than me and I just wouldn’t know what to say.
SE: If you didn’t become an artist, what do you think you’d do?
Ron: I’d probably do something with commercials or design, something more creative, a job which changes a lot.
Maybe what Ron said, If it was that Ron 10 years ago, this interview would just be the reporter asking questions for half an hour. But today the Ron in front of me may not be that fluent with Chinese but he speaks with confidence. He said that this is his conscience- In actual fact in filming a series there is a lot of things you have to learn therefore communicating with others has really influenced his work. No matter if its 10 years later, he’s still the Ron he was 10 years ago, there are some things that will never change. With his own words he describes it as

Each year, Raymond Lam takes on the role of "Big Brother" to treat his fellow colleagues to a New Year reunion dinner. Unexpectingly, this year his two "little sisters" Yoyo Mung and Bernice Liu were unable to attend due to work. That night, Raymond ate with newcomer Aimee Chan and good friend Joel Chan.
