G.E.M honestly revealed at the function that she didn’t expect an award, she laughed and said: [I thought I came today to sing, I just came back from Shanghai and am sick at the moment so I actually thought about not singing just then but now that I’ve gotten an award I can’t not sing!] G.E.M was also concerned about giving a poor performance and singing out of tune whilst worrying about being filmed singing off tune by the students: [I seriously wanted to die, if I sang badly I was scared the students would film me singing off tune with their mobile phones and post the clips on YouTube!]

Like a friend rather than an idol

Also, G.E.M stated that maybe she got more votes because her age is similar to the students: [Maybe because of that the students feel closer with me and that’s why they voted for me!] G.E.M has also revealed one of the comments a fan left on her blog saying how she feels more like a friend than an idol, when asked if she has confidence in receiving [Most popular female artist] G.E.M modestly said: [Most probably won’t be me, but I’ll still work hard!]
