Myolie Wu Just Want to be Happy

Initially thought it was a simple question but Myolie Wu pondered for very long before answering. Whereas thinking the question is quite complex, she was able to answer it very quickly without much thought. On screen, Myolie’s image keeps changing. She is able to put on weight, be mentally handicapped, cunning or even obedient. Behind the screen, although she is fashionable and strong, straightforward, unwittingly, she still revealed her feminine side, wish to have an eternal love relationship, and wish to hold a concert, even though she did not have a “dreamy young girl” look, luckily there was no “xx” look described by the netizens too. From clinching the 2nd runner up in the 1999 Miss Hong Kong till now being one of the bella in TVB, not sure when did Myolie Wu finally find the secret in acting? She expresses that if she really have to give an answer that will be 2003 “Triumph in the Skies” even though she already won the “Most Improved Actress Award” in 2002 by acting as a mentally challenged girl, Ting Sin Yan, in “Golden Faith”.
“Even though I managed to win the award by acting in “Golden Faith”, but I wasn’t too sure what I was doing. After I accepted the role in “Triumph in the Skies”, best actor, Francis Ng really taught us a lot. I was finally able to find the secret about acting. In acting, there is no Number 1. expression and Number 2. smile. I feel that it is not a onetime deal in being able to find the secret in acting. It is being able to see different things at different age and different roles. For now, I still have a lot of roles I have not try before and there are a lot of people I have not collaborated with before.
Talk about the most challenging character she had acted in till now, she actually listed “Burning Flame 3”! “I need to revolved between 2 guys, need to let the audiences feel that I have made the right choice. Although Ko Wai Ying is a good girl, but she doesn’t have a prominent character, the more ordinary the character is the harder it is to act!”
When Myolie Wu acted in “When a Dog Loves a Cat”, she was being labeled “Wu XX” by netizens and media, not sure whether she mind the criticisms? “This is something we have to shoulder as an artiste. I don’t mind!” If she gets to choose between rumours and not getting along well with colleagues, which will she choose? She sighed deeply and said, “Can I choose none of these? Does she rather not be in the news? “Artistes ultimately still need some talking point…, nope! I’m not that extreme.”
Age is just a figure
This is the 3rd year Myolie Wu is collaborating with Adonis. Ask how will she describe her relationship with Adonis? She expresses, “Very happy to get re-contracted, this is already the 3rd year I am being the spokesperson, my relationship with them is like a war-partner, they enable me to be prettier and make my conditions better.” She laughed and said, besides Hong Kong, Malaysia is the 2nd most frequent country she visited. “Whenever I am here, I will received treatments, am on very close terms with them.”
Myolie Wu will be celebrating her 30th birthday on November 6. Ask what are her views on the age of 30 years old? Maybe she misread the reporter meaning, with a bit of resistant on her face answered: “It is just a figure, not really very old!”

Who is the Real Destined Man
Myolie Wu and Bosco Wong “Good Friends” relationship is an undisclosed secret. But due to the relentless denying by the people involved, so during the interview, Wong Chung Chak this three words till the end was not able to be spoken out loud, instead ask what kind of wedding she will like.
As Myolie Wu mentioned before that she will only get married once she has a successful career. So to her, what is a successful career? Winning the best actress award during TVB anniversary? “Yup! It is to have a higher expectation for oneself. Like me, I just started singing, hope to have good results in the music industry. I also just have the chance to start filming in China (referring to acting in Beauty Scheme with Ruby Lin etc), hope to be able to try more new things in future, so not so fast.”
She adds on, “I will only be 30 in November, so I am only 20 plus now, young at heart. Marriage to me, should have a very mature mentality, must be very ready, besides also need to find the right person too.” (Does this mean that she has not found her destined man?)
“Men are Physiological Animal”
What kind of wedding will she look forward to? “I love liveliness, wish to celebrate the occasion with my family and good friends. In the past, I will prefer to have a big wedding celebration, but I have already changed my thoughts now. Don’t wish to be so elaborate. Even though it is a simple but grand wedding, I will still be very happy.”
Ask which couples in the entertainment circle she envies? She looks lost and said “Don’t have!” Guiding her to continue answering the question, listing Tony Leung and Carina Lau, or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie etc as examples, didn’t expect to receive such an answer. “Brad Pitt is a divorcee! What’s more, Angelina Jolie is the third party. The newspapers always write about how they quarrel and broke up…”
She is against divorced? “Of course no one wish to be divorced! I hope to be able to find an eternal love because I still believe in love.” After that she sincerely said, “In fact, I think it is very hard because there are a lot of temptation, man’s thinking are different from woman. I am not saying men are bad, but men are physiological animal, made to spread the seed…” After hearing this, I couldn’t control my laughter, she also laugh along with me and said, “But I would not reject love just because of this!”
Used to study in Northern Ireland
Myolie Wu is the third child in her family. She has two elder sisters. As her father is a public servant, he enjoys the rebate for sending his children to study overseas. Myolie Wu was being send to Northern Ireland around the time she was in secondary school. Ask how she manage to maintain a close relationship with her family considering her busy schedule? She said that she is currently staying with her 2nd sister.
“My elder sister has already married, she has 2 cute babies. My relationships with my sisters are very good. We will share our problems together. I love children; I feel that my sister is very happy and fortunate now. As for my parents, they live by themselves, although I am also on good terms with them, but ultimately they are still the elders, so I am still closer to my sisters.
Ask what other wishes she wants to fulfill, she replied that it is to hold a concert. Ask her which song best represent her feelings now, she think about it for very long, in the end she did not choose her own song. Instead she chooses Alanis Morrisette’s “Hands In My Pocket”.
Listen to her humming enjoyably “I’m broke but I’m happy. I’m poor but I’m kind. I’m short but I’m healthy. Yeah!” The image of her filming for “On the Road” “The happy tales of Italy” filled my mind. At this moment, she suddenly smiled and said, “I might not have the best, but I still try to be happy, enjoying whatever I have at the moment.”
The moment when she is most alert
The interview was being arranged at 10.30am, but Myolie Wu needs to set off of Malacca and Batu Pahat at 11am for Adonis functions. For the first part of the interview, she was still “styling her hair”, when the hairdresser left to look for hair clips for her, she smiled at the reporter waiting at the side and said, “I’m sorry, you can start asking questions.” Halfway through the interview, she finally finished doing her hair and she had also put on her necklace. Myolie Wu who strives for perfection finally was able to smile more. Ask who are the people she can learn from in this industry, after listing Liza Wang and Francis Ng, she stops. What about people from her generation? She said, “those from my generation are good. Able to say this person, will miss out another. So I don’t dare to list.” Aiya! Hong Kong wouldn’t be able to see this interview! She stares with both eyes wide open and said, “What! Malaysia news can be found online.” Wawawa! This is her most “alert” moment for the whole morning.
