"Miss Hong Kong Pageant Final" history book has to be rewritten. Edelweiss Cheung, who was the Miss Hong Kong missed crowning her successor. Loretta Chu, who is regarded as the most beautiful Miss Hong Kong in the history of the pageant took that role to crown Sandy Lau as 2009 Miss Hong Kong. Edelweiss was in hiding at her Kowloon Tong home. She had to call the police as there were reporters waiting outside her house.
Miss Hong Kong Pageant started in 1973 and last night's pageant was the 37th session. Edelweiss is the first Miss Hong Kong who was unable to crown her successor in the history of the Miss Hong Kong Pageant. In fact, through mediation, Edelweiss had been negotiating with TVB. In the end, TVB still maintained the original decision to invite 1977 winner Loretta Chu to present the award to Sandy Lau. Edelweiss was not even invited for the event last night, and last year's Miss Hong Kong runner up Skye Chan was sitting next to the big boss Sir Run Run Shaw.
