Miriam Yeung continues to renew her contract with TVB
Tuesday, August 26, 2008
In April this year, Miriam Yeung decided to follow Kelly Chen's footsteps and didn't want to renew her contract with TVB. There were rumors stating the reason behind it was because she sat through "TVB Jade Solid Gold Music Awards" last year and only received 1 award the whole night. The 2 big awards "Most Popular Female Singer" and "Asia Pacific Region Most Popular Female Singer" went to Joey Yung and Twins. Therefore Miriam felt very unhappy about the situation and decided not to renew her contract with TVB. However, 4 months later Miriam has started to mend her relationship with TVB and has recently renewed her contract as a TVB artist. She will also be attending this years "JSG Music Awards". It looks like Joey Yung who had no competitors will once again have competition with Miriam Yeung in competing for the "Most Popular Female Singer" award and being the No 1 Pop Queen status.Contract is handled by Management
Yesterday Miriam attended Commerical radio's "Live Music" conference. The reporter asked her about renewing TVB's contract. She claimed that she didn't know much about it and will have to ask her Management later on to confirm. She says "My contracts have always been handled by my management. Actually, I personally feel what is most important to me is doing a good job in singing and acting, what I worry most in life is not doing the job well enough." (Is it because you had renewed your contract in order to host the "Mr Hong Kong 2008 contest"?) "When TVB executive Ho Lai Chuen visited me in Sichuan while I was meeting up with the earthquake victims, he asked me whether I was interested. He said because I gave people a happy impression and was often laughing that I was most suitable to host the show. Actually, I feel the work I have received from TVB has always been Okay."
Renewing has nothing to do with getting more Publicity
(Did you feel that you didn't have as much publicity coverage as before that's why you have decided to renew your contract with TVB?) Miriam says "It's nothing to do with that. When you attend promotional events you will get publicity. When you are resting and not working then you have no targets. But when you are working what is most important is that your work shows quality, has a meaning and that is what the audience enjoy seeing. If you are often getting publicity but don't even know what you're doing then the audience will start to become annoyed in seeing you."
